Re: [Quantum Owners] Quantum ever let you down?
unlucky! in the v8 xtreme, having thought I had things on track and had started to use it, went to start it in the work carpark and ping the accelerator cable snapped.. lucky for me this time it happened when i was stationary... it happened in the last Q as i was accelerating hard with a beema right up my thankfully they backed off that time and I managed to fix it at the side of the road. this one needed two cables to get it sorted, the first attempt fell to bits - brand new too! glad it was an easy fix. [Quantum Owners] Quantum ever let you down?
Went down to Gosport to look another type of car and took the 2+2 RST and we (wife Diane) and I decided to have an icecream on the shore and the bloke serving noticed the 2+2 and asked what it was and when told said "how would my Focus ST get on against it"? I surprised myself by being diplomatic and lied when I told him we would have fun. In truth he would lose of course! However finally I will get to the point, and tell you that as we neared home the 2+2 backfired, suddenly all power was lost and I coasted into a lucky positioned layby 2 miles from home, so we walked the rest, and after collecting my "A" frame and Mondeo went back and dragged it home. Today I fixed the fault which turned out to be the small permanently live wire that is connected to the starter main lead live from the battery which had fractured and fallen off. I wish alll problems were so easy to fix. Jon -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group. I drove my quantum down from Manchester today thinking It was on today. Going to try and get back for it on Monday. I'm doing an nvq level 3 one of the Aston Martin apprentices. Yes it was me having the electrical issues. Fixed some of them now but would still be good if you could see if I should carry out any more work. Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: 2+2 headlamp "flaps" go mad
Erm, something of a revival (was this really 5 years ago?!) I still havent sorted it, but thinking of starting again on wiring in the thing again. There's that much wiring in the engine bay from a carb'd car, then EFi, then FRST that I think ignoring it might be a good option. Right now, my headlamp flaps are down permanently, everything seems plugged in that should be, but I think the wiper motor itself is now caput. Which brings me onto the point - would anyone be able to tell me / show me the alleged modification to the wiper motor for the 2+2 Thanks Andy On Monday, 15 December 2008 21:43:52 UTC, Matthew Wastell wrote: > > Have you checked the grease on the little contact wheel inside the mech? > > After many years of working the grease can pick up small particles of > metal which wears away from the contact wheel - it then has the lovely > property of being conductive grease which then leaves the flaps doing > exactly what you said. Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: how the v8 Xtreme is getting on
yep they do! they are these http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=174793 before I even drove with them I had bought some Halfords Extreme Brilliance bulbs as with the standard ones even in the garage i thought light output was down. there is just one H1 bulb in them and a solenoid shutter that lifts up when going from dipped to main beam (flat beam), so no 5w increase of power for main.. dipped it not bad at all, but main is not the same as I was used to.. but then on the red xtream i had added 2 extra mains so maybe i was a bit spoilt!
