As others have already pointed out, some people are extremely sensitive to light while they're sleeping. Others, myself included, are not bothered by this as much. As far as addressing your question about which room my players are in, I currently have a Boom in the master bedroom on my nightstand. The other players are in my family room, game room and home theater. The Radio (which should arrive today :)) will be going in the guest bedroom. Assuming I like the Radio as much as I think I will, I'll probably buy a second one for my kitchen. This would be another scenario where adjustable dimming would come in handy. Good question. I don't think we've really thought about it. I'll forward this question on to the UI designers to see how hard it is to change text color. I imagine it's quite simple. But I agree that some of us are very sensitive to light for sleeping. And for me as well, blue is really bad. I know from sailboat racing that most of their instruments use red lighting so as to not destroy your "night vision" ability. Our eyes seem to tolerate a fair amount of red light in ways that blue or white just can't do. I'm glad this has been asked and appears to have been addressed. I am also a sleeper who is extremely sensitive to lights in my room, to the point that I've had to put tape over the lights on many things such as the base to my Harmony remote that is in the bedroom. One of the questions that I have though is regarding the white numbers on black background. Are there plans to provide other colors for the alarm display? I've observed that blue is one of the hardest to sleep with colors and red is one of the easiest to sleep with. FYI, I designed the dimming circuit for the display, and I'm super paranoid about things keeping me up at night. I made it so that even in a darkened bedroom, the dimmest setting is just readable. The current software does auto-dimming, or manual dimming -- you choose. There is still some optimization that needs to be done on the dimming algorithms, but it's really pretty good as is. With the auto adjustment enabled the screen goes really dim. Do not be affraid. I sleep in a dark room, and the screen is so dim that it is getting hard to even read the time. I can only agree on the statements above! It goes very dim in a dark room. If you turn the knob or touch any buttons, it will light up so you can read the screen and then go back to dim after a short time. If you want it completely dark, you can set "off" mode to screen off. I'm pretty sure that in this case turning the knob would not turn on the screen. Per default in the 'off' state there is a screensafer, which shows a digital clock (white letters) on black. When there is no light around this dims very low, so you still see the numbers but it doesn't illuminate the surroundings. I'm not disturbed at all by this but still can read the clock. Before ordering the SB Radio some question's: I want to used it as a bedside radio/alarm. Is it totally dark when i want to go to sleep or is there a dim screen or so. when dark, is there a button for a back light or so, so that i can check the time. The reason why i'm asking is because i like the dark when sleeping, so it would be handy that the radio is dark and when i briefly wake up i want to check the time, then i click a button i have briefly light on the radio.
