A new PDF problem...
I'm a longtime Seamonkey user with multiple computers at different locations. They all run Windows XP and are set up identically, to open PDF links in a new tab. For the past week or two, each computer frequently has the same problem. Instead of PDF links opening, I get a blank grey screen that says Check for updates... Click here to activate plugin. This used to happen occasionally and could be corrected by closing Acrobat.exe in Task Manager and reloading the PDF link, but now it happens very frequently on every computer -- and my old fix never works. Lost Navigation Bar
For several months now I have not had the Navigation Bar displayed in my Sea Monkey browser window. I don't remember exactly when or after what process this first occurred. I have all the toolbars checked, except the sidebar, in the ViewShow/Hide settings and I have the Website Navigation Bar set to 'Always Show' in ViewShow/HideWebsite Navigation Bar. I have just downloaded and installed v2.14.1 and of course relaunched Sea Monkey but the problem is still there. I am running a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8. I have restarted my computer many times since the problem appeared and there's been no change to my Sea Monkey window. Anybody have any ideas? Re: Lost Navigation Bar
Dear Paul Nope, I have nothing like what you describe. I have 'Home' incl. the little house icon, then a vertical dotted line. To the right of that is 'Bookmarks' with a folder icon and all my various bookmarks. I know my eyes aren't what they used to be but I truly see no speckled bars. And my wife took a look and can't see anything either! I am considering uninstalling Sea Monkey (I have Mac Keeper which will totally uninstall it) and reinstalling. My major concern here is losing my bookmarks which would suck. Ok everybody, it's fixed. Yay! For a totally different reason (I could not easily see the little 'X' for closing tabs), I switched from 'SeaMonkey Default Theme' to 'SeaMonkey Modern'. Your Adobe Acrobat 9.5 -- is that the reader or the writer? I found out years ago that if you install the writer, you need to reinstall the reader. Yes, they will work okay without doing that; but SeaMonkey will then view PDF files in the writer instead of the reader. Also, you should turn off updates. On the reader's menu bar, select [Edit Preferences Updater], select the last radio button, and then the okay button. Periodically, manually check http://get.adobe.com/reader/ to see if there is a new version. The current version of the reader is 11.0. -- David E. Make certain that you have software that does a COMPLETE backup, including your registry, e.g. BounceBack. You can back up daily, weekly, or monthly, depending upon your needs. I would also suggest that you burn your desired photographs to good quality CD-Rs, such as T.Y. from Japan. In addition, consider keeping a set of backed up data in another building, because fires and floods do occur. Good luck, and Happy New Year. Depending upon your operating system, not sure about mac's or Unix systems but in Windows (vista for me) you need to find what is called the slt file mine looks like this kdz14sgr.default yours will probably be different. This is how you find it (again in Vista). open your C: Drive and look at the folders find the folder Users. Then you will look for a folder that is your computers name, not all users, default users, or guests, but probably the one after these depending upon what you named your computer. Inside that folder look for Application Data. Inside that folder look for Mozilla. Inside that folder look for Seamonkey. Inside that folder look for Profiles Inside that folder your will find the slt folder as mentioned above. Inside that folder you will find the Mail folder. Inside this folder you should find all your mail, broken down by where you get your mail from, I have gmail, yahoo, and a few others in mine, inside of these folders you should find your missing mail. Again, I'm not sure how to get it out of there, but there it should be. Hope this helps you some.
