RE: somewhat off topic--can i text someone's phone from my computer
Yes, you can text from your computer to a cell phone. If you don't know the carrier's SMS gateway address, no worries, just go here: http://www.freesmsgateway.info/ In the edit box, type the phone number of the person you want to send a text to and whack . Use the cursor keys to read the results provided. You should have both the SMS gateway and the MMS gateway addresses displayed and you can pick either to use for sending the text message from your computer. Re: somewhat off topic--can i text someone's phone from my computer
Verizon uses: 1234567...@vzwpix.com with the first part being the phone number of course. Marilyn At 05:10 PM 8/17/2016, you wrote: Unless you know the carrier of that person's cell number, probably not. Each carrier has its own way of accepting text messages from a computer. For example, AT's texting service uses the following: 1234567...@txt.att.net Other carriers will do something else. As far as I know, there's no way to determine by phone number what carrier the person to whom you want to send a text message has. Hope this helps.--Matt, N1IBB. Re: somewhat off topic--can i text someone's phone from my computer
here you go: This site aims to be the most complete and up to date list of email addresses that can be used to send text messages to phones. Hence email text messages or email-to-sms. This is the most simple way of sending text messages from the internet or from your computer to phones. These email addresses essentially act as a direct link to a carriers SMS gateway. Most other lists of carrier's text messaging email addresses are out of date and obsolete in 2007. The biggest change being Cingular consolidating everything to a new ATT email address for their wireless subscribers. This list can be used to help developers develop free text messaging solutions and services. The list includes US, Canadian and international mobile carriers for worldwide texting. Sure you can, depending on the carrier they have a particular email address where you can text. I think there are websites out there where you don't even have to know the carrier. Re: somewhat off topic--can i text someone's phone from my computer
Unless you know the carrier of that person's cell number, probably not. Re: Gold help
On my Win 7 64 bit system, Gold Wave, or Win Eyes would freeze fairly often. In fact, the longer I was using Gold Wave, the higher the probability of it locking up during that session of running Gold Wave. Always thought this had more to do with RAM getting messed up as this system only has 4 GB or memory. On my Win 10 system, I have more memory, and I rarely have Gold Wave freeze and Win Eyes also runs much much better. I too am not having the same level of access with the latest edition of Gold Wave. Re: My ctrl-alt shortcut combos are suddenly gone
Hey Rod, I'm pretty much the same as you when it comes to the placement of shortcuts, they are most always on the desktop. I access them both by letters or by placing punctuations as prefixes for the ones I use most often to accessed programs, or maybe a particular book or what ever. As for these troublesome ones, they were made by yours truly. I think I remember this happening before, but it has obviously been a long time, since I really can't say for sure . As for rehabbing them, it isn't really all that much trouble, just a PITA. The only reason I even bothered to put this one out to the list was because we had a brief suspension of our Internet service (oops), until my dear wife reupped with Comcast, and this just happened to happen either during or after service was restored. Since Windows 10 has been running so darn well over the past five months or so, and the update seems to run things a bit better and faster IMHO, I was kind of paranoid that my little technological world was beginning to fall apart. Not to mention that the day before yesterday, I was taking a look at and copying some files from various cds, and a couple of the cds that I put into the drive were of commercial origin from about 10 years ago, and at that time, some record companies took to putting cute little rootkits on their cds, both to prevent copying, as well as tracking the use of their products. So anyway, I don't know if those things are even effective on Windows 10 or not, but that kind of thing can be a bit unsettling. But so far, no other issues have become apparent. BTW, do you know of a product that might be able to detect such rootkits these days? I had a program called Rootkit Revealer that would detect such things, but the problem was that at the time Norton Utilities used the rootkit in their software, hopefully for non milevilant purposes, and there were I think literally hundreds detected, and those were never removed, but the cd ones were. Oh well, that was far more than I intended to say, so I will shut up and get on with the business of the day . Take care and have a great one, Larry On 8/16/2016 4:08 PM, Rod Hutton wrote: Hi Larry, I'm not sure where you specified the hot key, but, in my experience, they work most consistently if the icons you use to define the hot keys reside on the desktop. Indeed, it is wise to check to see if the software the icons point to has been updated recently and, at that time, if you gave permission for icons to be placed on the desktop, perhaps they wre overwritten with fresh copies of the icons, in which case your hot keys would be no longer defind, or perhaps defined by the developer. At any rate, as Netbat has suggested, it is a problem which usually can be remedied by either redefining the hot key, or by deleting the icon, copying a new one onto the desktop, and then editing its properties to redefine the hot key. As you can probably tell, I've been down this road before, and this is why I don't use them myself, preferring, instead, to press Enter on desktop icons. how to get thunderbird to stop repeting itself with the firs tline or first few words of A message when you are reading A message
Hi every time I open A message in Thunderbird. It will start reading and then. It will either repete the first few words of whatever message that I am reading. Or the first few lines or the first line of A message that I am reading. How do you get this to stop doing this. Also when you have Thunderbird open and hit control back space. It will say Thunderbird. As the set file that is selected. But then it will say selected non. So how do you fix that as well or can't you fix that? -- Casey ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. getting window eyes to read more
Sorry about the subjectline. I had a problem, and had to use the removal tool and install window eyes from scratch, so I am having to redo settings. How do I get window eyes to read more than 24 lines? It’s been a long time since I had to do it. I’ve tried looking, and I can’t find it. Thanks for help. Yep, while surveys are good, just watching people discuss things is a great way to gage feedback about what works and what doesn't. So instead of going to the start menu, if I just force a shut down it will start up without locking up the next time I start it. Now I found that this situation is related to Window Eyes. When I uninstall Window Eyes the computer turns on and off just fine. To make sure Window Eyes is the culprit, I uninstalled window Eyes and installed it twice with the same results. If you're wondering how I turn the computer off without Window Eyes, I have Kurzweil 1000 and that program has speech and the ability to turn off the computer. Re: Found Extended Dictionary app, but a question
Since this thread is a bit old, I won't start a prolonged discussion about the matter. I just want to ask what makes you believe there is a fee? When installing the app, you are presented a license agreement. The very first paragraph reads: ---Quote: You - the end-user of the Extended Dictionary package - are granted the rights to use this app, free of charge, on any computer within the license periode. You have the right to run it simultaneously, or individually, on as many computers as you want. ---End Of Quote. Read this paragraph carefully. It CLEARLY states, the license is "FREE OF CHARGE". How much clearer do you want it to be written? If you have a better way of phrasing that a product is free of charged for a licensed period, let me know. But even your freeware anti-virus software, will be free of charge, for the licensed period. I really am not sure, what in that phrase ever would lead anyone to believe there is a fee? If there had been a fee, would it not have stated so, and definitely abstained from claiming "free of charge"? Window-Eyes for Office, is likewise a product, offered to you as a "free of charge" product, for the time Microsoft keeps that licensing feature running. I have never seen any of you asking if there is a fee on that product. Do you claim that the free edition of AVG, Avast, Nod32 - is unclear if it has a fee, even if your license agreement on any of these products will (often in far more complicated terms) state that the product is under a free license? Again, should any of you have a better way of phrasing the FREE OF CHARGE statement, I am willing to have my English capacity adjusted. PLEASE, will you abstain from arguing why the license is limited. All developers of any product have their right to license their product for whatever timespan they may decide. Reasons may be many, and often deeply dug into more complicated conditions. Again, take the free offer of the screen reader, for MSOffice users. It is only licensed long as that arrangement is in place. When you use a free edition of your Anti-virus or -spyware, it is licensed for free, within a certain scope. Do you question why? I am not going to deal with a long discussion on WHY things are the way they are, only trying to figure why anyone has got the idea there is a fee on my product, all the time, the very first two lines you are met with, so definite and clearly states that there exists no such fee. Could it be a small suggestion for you all, to please read the text carefully? Should you have any further feedback on the matter, or the software itself, would you please contact me directly on: trailerda...@hotmail.com I will do my best, to answer your queries.
