RE: [tips] Has anyone ever received this inquiry from a student about APA style?

2013-12-04 Thread Tim Shearon

Actually most of the physicists I've known have been willing to (or eager to)
engage in magical thinking. Yet remaining quick to question psychology as
unscientific or targeting to study something too ephemeral to capture.

Hmm, a more vexing question, I think, is how do you cite the voices
in one's head? Should one just identify this as a "personal
communication"

or is there a more appropriate citation and reference?

I also wonder if the physicists ever get asked questions like this?

[tips] Books on teaching

2013-12-04 Thread Reaves, Celia (Psychology)
Forgive the cross-posting if you see this request in multiple places. As this
semester comes grinding to a close, I'm looking to re-energize myself by
reading one or more books on best practices for teaching either the Intro Psych
course or Research Methods. I already have the collections of activities; I'm
looking more for new ideas about how to structure the courses at a higher
level. Does anyone have good ideas to share? You can email me off-list if you
prefer; I'll collect any responses I get and post the whole list to the group.
Thanks.
