[Bug 1954970] Re: remmina "Cannot connect to the RDP server ... via TLS. Check that the client and server support a common TLS version"
The 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2 libfreerdp2-2 found on jammy-updates fixes the RD gateway access issue for me too. Thanks, I can use Remmina again. A bit disconcerting that Remmina seems to be the only GUI option for this task. Much depends on it working. Shocking that the bug made it all the way to 22.04 LTS release. Happy for the fix! [Bug 1875774] Re: lxqt-policykit crashes with general protection fault in libgobject-2.0
According to upstream this bug is fixed in lxqt-policykit 0.17.0. [Bug 1002978] Re: [meta-bug] Inverted Internal microphone (phase inversion)
On an Acer Aspire 5810TG running Ubuntu 18.04 with latest 5.3 kernel. HDA Intel. ALC269 Analog. Pulseaudio was monitoring minimal sound from internal mic with both channels on, but ok with either left or right off. Audacity and Gnome Sound Recorder had no issues. Audacity showed two phase inverted channels. Same issues as above re Skype and Hangouts and same workarounds worked. External mono plug in mic - no problem. Same problem on same machine with Debian 10 Buster. Tried remapping the Pulseaudio stereo channels to mono which allowed even output through both speakers. For instructions see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting #No_microphone_on_Steam_or_Skype_with_enable-remixing_=_no After this, Pulseaudio still has to have one internal mic channel off to function. However output is now through both speakers instead of one. In Ubuntu, Audacity shows two channels with same phase. In Debian, Audacity shows one mono channel. Same difference through the speakers. I believe this is still a bug as Pulseaudio cannot produce output from with a phase inverted stereo internal mic as Audacity and Sound recorder can. Nope. Same graphics problem exists for me with 4.2.5-wily kernel [sans xorg.conf]. Any good kernel is likely to be an earlier one, not a later one, as the regression is yet unidentified. dmidecode -s bios-version && dmidecode -s bios-release-date && dmidecode -s bios-vendor A08 03/03/2006 Dell Inc. Sorry, Christopher, the BIOSupdate made no difference. After a few seconds to a minute or two the graphics are covered with horizontal lines obscuring the screen same as the other bloke's screen shot. I think navigating the LXDE menu seems to trigger the behaviour, or not. The GUI eventually may crash to a black screen. Only resortis to ctrl-alt-F[x] switch to a command line interface terminal. Something weird about the new Ubuntu kernels which is not in the new Debian Sid4.2 or the previous 3.19 Ubuntu kernel.. On 25 October 2015 at 07:51, Christopher M. [Bug 1509556] Re: Kubuntu Wily upgrade screen glitch with 4.2 kernel
No sorrybisections are not appropriate yet. As the latest mainline after all still has the bug I am trying this work around as per Phil Hopkins: Older Intel graphics adapters may need UXA acceleration instead of the default. The work-around is to change the Xorg acceleration method to UXA. Edit (or create) as root or sudo a file named /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows (there should be a tab before each line except the first and the last): Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" EndSection So far on the stock 15.10 4.2 kernel no problems. Will give it a few more minutes. ** Tags removed: needs-bisect -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509556 Title: Kubuntu Wily upgrade screen glitch with 4.2 kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1509556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you, Christopher Penalver, for your prompt response. I updated the BIOS from 5.16 to 5.22 as you directed via the Windows Vista partition. All aforementioned Ubuntu Linux kernels, old, new official 15.04 and upstream now boot properly on the machine [and even the Debian partition kernels] :) The BIOS update successfully worked around the kernel bug. On 31 May 2015 at 23:27, Christopher M. Penalver christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com wrote: Bryan Cebuliak, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP- Pavilion-a6700-Desktop-PC-series/3823602/model/3830446 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (5.22). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460365 Title: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460365/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460365 Title: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460365/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1460365] Re: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system
Relativism depends on one's point of view. On 1 June 2015 at 21:10, Christopher M. Penalver christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com wrote: Bryan Cebuliak, just to clarify, if you updated your BIOS and a problem went away, then the bug was in the BIOS, not the kernel. Despite this, this bug report is being closed due to your last comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460365/comments/35 regarding this being fixed with a BIOS update. For future reference you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed drop down box. [Bug 1460365] [NEW] 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system
Public bug reported: Since upgrading from 14.10 [3.16 kernel] to 15.04 the 3.19 kernels including 3.19.0-20 will either stall on bootor leave me without proper graphics or nil keyboard and mouse even on recovery boot . Re: [Bug 1455852] Re: 15.04 will not boot on MacBook 2,1
another possible candidate re boot hang: commit 0e126cfab3928e8b01e17e1e707eec2bfdb4f1c2 Author: Len Brown len.br...@intel.com Date: Wed Jan 15 00:37:34 2014 -0500 sched/idle/x86: Restore mwait_idle() to fix boot hangs, to improve power savings and to improve performance commit b253149b843f89cd300cbdbea27ce1f847506f99 upstream. In Linux-3.9 we removed the mwait_idle() loop: 69fb3676df33 (x86 idle: remove mwait_idle() and idle=mwait cmdline param) The reasoning was that modern machines should be sufficiently happy during the boot process using the default_idle() HALT loop, until cpuidle loads and either acpi_idle or intel_idle invoke the newer MWAIT-with-hints idle loop. But two machines reported problems: 1. Certain Core2-era machines support MWAIT-C1 and HALT only. MWAIT-C1 is preferred for optimal power and performance. But if they support just C1, cpuidle never loads and so they use the boot-time default idle loop forever. 2. Some laptops will boot-hang if HALT is used, but will boot successfully if MWAIT is used. This appears to be a hidden assumption in BIOS SMI, that is presumably valid on the proprietary OS where the BIOS was validated. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60770 So here we effectively revert the patch above, restoring the mwait_idle() loop. Wrong guess re 37ef01ab... , but there is a difference. After reaching the usual ..Created slice... message, instead of stalling on the message , the screen goes black then stalls. Re: [Bug 1455852] Re: 15.04 will not boot on MacBook 2,1
Remember similar stalling while booting in MacBook 2,1 issues predate the ubuntu 3.19 kernel. They are in 3.16 and previous I think also, just not as consistently or persistently as the in the 3.19. Would be nice for Ubuntu to figure this out and backport all supported kernels. Re: [Bug 1455852] Re: 15.04 will not boot on MacBook 2,1
No. 3.19.0-16-generic will not boot normally. In recovery mode it boots but with no mouse or keyboard function. My experience with recent kernels is the same as Nils'. The 3.16 kernels may take a few stalled boots hardware power key shutdowns and reboots to work. I think the 14.04 LTS kernels were ok and the original quetzal 12.10 ones were ok.
