[Bug 1227569] Re: individual characters frequently corrupted

2013-12-16 Thread jayhawk
I too had this problem on my Lenovo SL510 with Ubuntu 13.10.
However this solved the problem for me:

In Synaptic I found 4 ibus related packages with status 'installed, but
upgradable'. I upgraded these, and now the corrupted chars problem seems
to be gone.

[Bug 643212] Re: ntrig touchscreen no longer works

2010-10-18 Thread Jayhawk
I have found that the single-touch version (if the firmware is removed--
it also does not provide a firmware version) is no longer reporting
correctly. I am pretty sure that the Vista firmware will report the
same issues. The hid-ntrig.c source is only calling report_frame when
HID_DG_CONTACTCOUNT is received. However, in the Vista firmware and
single-touch, it does not send that event. It ends when HID_DG_HEIGHT
is sent. Therefore the N-Trig Touchscreen (single-touch/Vista) version
will never report anything. I have also found that the system will
crash occasionally when you touch the screen.

Attached is a patch that is currently working for me in single touch and
multitouch. I hope this helps.

** Patch added: Patches to allow single-touch events to be reported.

[Bug 318942] Re: no sound from speakers on HP Mini 1000 (hda-intel, IDT 92HD75B2X5)

2009-04-23 Thread Jayhawk
Bigbrovar,

I have similar problems. However, I believe the problem occurs when
trying to play two different sound sources at once. For instance, open
RhythmBox and play an mp3. Sound will work fine. Keep that playing and
then open a browser and watch a video or any other sound producing
content. Audio stops entirely for me. This happened after using the
update mentioned above to fix my sound.

[Bug 301719] [NEW] Kubuntu Juanty 9.04 64-Bit Alternate Install .iso Fails on Install

2008-11-24 Thread Jayhawk
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release:9.04

Package using: I forgotten the name of the installer.

I downloaded and tried to install Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 1 64-bit on my
laptop. I ended up using a DVD since the .iso was too large to fit the
CD. The md5sum matched and the CD check passed. The install did make
it through the base install but fails after asking if you want to
manually install the security updates. I tried to complete the install
(one step remaining) and I skipped the boot loader option. The system
was able to boot up but packages were missing.

I ended up booting up in another partition and chrooted into Jaunty and
installed kubuntu-desktop. It appears that there libplasma2 and
libplasma3 were listed as broken. I went ahead and installed it and
things look ok, but I am thinking that I am still missing packages but I
have no way to confirm it.

[Bug 222265] Re: Kaffeine cannot install libdvdcss codec

2008-04-30 Thread Jayhawk
It looks like the call for /usr/lib/kaffeine/install-codecs ffmpeg does
not get called when libxine1-ffmpeg is not installed. Instead it looks
like it does the call for dvdcss instead. Since this is the case, the
user thinks that kaffeine is having problems with libdvdcss even though
it really has an issue with libxine1-ffmpeg not being installed. If you
call /usr/lib/kaffeine/install-codecs ffmpeg, it does the call correctly
and installs the missing package.

The other possible issue is that /usr/lib/kaffeine/install-codecs seems
to find libdvdcss2-dev (in search_pkg) first and since it is not
installed, it says that it needs to install libdvdcss2 even though it
really is installed. If the user requests to have libdvdcss installed,
would it be possible to add the medibuntu repository, do a repository
update, and have adept-batch do the libdvdcss install instead of calling
the kubuntu.org? This will allow the package to stay up to date.

2008-04-29 Thread Jayhawk
The issue still occurs with the current kernel 2.6.24-16-generic and it
is like how Michael DePaulo said. The 100.14.19 driver is the last
driver that worked. The issue is not on the Ubuntu developer's side
because the same problem occurs in other Linux distros (I am also using
Arch and Gentoo). I have been trying to see if I can get a copy of the
2.6.25 kernel to see if 100.14.19 will work on it. I tried 2.6.25-rc6
and I was unable to get the Nvidia driver to work.

[Bug 182743] Re: hardy xorg not detecting for compaq evo n410c

2008-02-09 Thread Jayhawk
I think that I might have posted my info for a different reason. I am
not using an ATI card, but Nvidia. Normally the install will find my
hardware info (touchpad and nvidia card) and have no problems, but this
time the only problem that I experience is that my touchpad was not
recognized but it realized that I had a 1280x800 monitor.

[Bug 182743] Re: hardy xorg not detecting for compaq evo n410c

2008-02-09 Thread Jayhawk
I am having a similar issue with my HP dv6338se. After the initial
install, my xorg.conf is similar to the one that is posted by
linuxer101. Normally the install will detect the touchpad but it did
not find it this time. I ended up using my xorg.conf from Gutsy to make
it work.

2007-12-31 Thread Jayhawk
Viaken,

I am running 2.6.22-14-generic #1 currently and still have the
problem. Our laptops use the same chipset, in fact, they are almost
identical (running MX3414). I just tested again to make sure last
night, and the problem still applies as soon as I join a WEP network.
Are you still running WPA with WPAsupplicant installed? Maybe that is
the difference.

I'm running the RTL8185 as well. I just downloaded and installed a new

fix this? Similarly, without WAP or WEP, I have no problems, but with
encryption enabled, I get the hard freeze along with the blinking caps
lock light.

[Bug 123853] USB port stops working after irq 7 disabled

2007-07-03 Thread Jayhawk
Public bug reported:

At any point when logged into the system, a message will come up in the
terminal saying that it disabled IRQ #7 and that nobody cared. However,

ever happening on Feisty.. Here is the info from dmesg:

[Bug 78255] Re: [2.6.20-12] rtl8180 gone missing.

2007-04-10 Thread Jayhawk
The module worked in Edgy too, but with one serious problem that still
remains. For people like me who use their laptop in a building with
lots of access points with the same essid (school), the lack of a signal
level is very troublesome. The wireless will drop from one access point
and pick up another every minute or so. This means that wireless
disconnects, and you have to manually reconnect it.

[Bug 95304] Wireless card not detected after upgrade to Feisty

2007-03-23 Thread Jayhawk
Public bug reported:

Gateway MX3414,

Upgrade from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn. After reboot, my wireless card is

show signal strength (big problem anyways when there are multiple access
points). Now, the card is not detected at all. No wireless detected.

[Bug 95303] Upgrade installs incorrect graphics driver

After upgrading from Edgy to Feisty (Proprietary driver installed in
