Howdy, Although this is still very much work in progress, I thought I would put the new website in it's current state on a staging URL so that you guys can play with it: http://www.myhaiku.org There is still quite a bit left to wrap up the theme, so I will continue to work on my local copy as it is much faster. Feel free to use the staging site online and provide feedback on this thread, but please do not expect changes to it right away; instead, I will upload updated iterations of the site periodically so that you can see the progress. looks great jorge. On a more unrelated note is there anyone on us's team dedicated to social media? I work as a social media consultant at webconnection (a small web development firm in baltimore), and would be willing to do some complementary social media work for ubuntu. They can eventually be replaced with whatever is decided to be the official logo and/or tagline for the next release (just FYI, the current logo is a combination of the US graphic signature -- which tbh I don't remember where I got from -- with text using the Ubuntu font; the text is not an image, so the kerning may not be exact and I suppose it may even render differently depending on the browser/resolution/etc.; eventually, we will have to use an image for the logo). On a first walkthrough I found that I wanted to navigate the homepage's info carousel by clicking on the images below the text held in the unordered list with id=flowtabs. To a certain extent this section of the page feels like an accordion interaction, so when I couldn't click on the images I had to find out *how* to interact with it - ie. click the text. In the grand scheme of things, not to big, just something that *feels* like it should be interactive. Text looks awesome! I like the line spacing, and the subtle grey border below the h2 tags. There is only one thing I might play with in regards to text, and that is the post's meta content. The way it is currently looks beautiful, but the content isn't as *scan-able* By that I mean that when I scroll down the page the individual post titles (h2) stand out, but the content of the post doesn't stand out from the meta - ie. author, post date, etc... In terms of a solution - Hmmm... the quick thing would be to make the meta smaller. Another possible solution would be to not have it on the home page, or to have a limited amount showing, when the viewer clicks through to the single post they would get more details. I'm not as thrilled with that solution, but it could work. Anyway, keep up the good work! - Benjamin -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel

All the people who have access to the admin of the site, know how to get there without the clickable link. This just encourages attempted security intrusions. Only users with the admin role will see the links to the administration area, so no worries. 2) Is there a usecase for a user profile page? i.e. who will have authority to create content on the site? Permissions are fine-grained and can be based on user role and content type; moderation can also be used if desired (i.e., an anonymous user submits an article, it goes into a queue and it is published only after revision by a trusted member). Long story short, pretty much any desired scenario can be achieved. This can be discussed (perhaps on a separate thread?) at a later date, though. Right now I am trying to get the looks right. :) 3) Can we see a few screenshots outside of the admin login (i.e. a new blog post or story without the edit links above)? This coming weekend or early next week I will have something online for everyone to play with. And one not-so nitpicky thing that could be a major thorn for us eventually; the twitter feed - which is a great idea (I'm fine with just grabbing any #ubuntustudio hashtag post) - inherently relies on a new drupal module being loaded to the site. Any new drupal module will need to undergo a full scrutiny by Cannonical's web security team before their admins okay its upload. This means we need to decide upon which modules we'll need for this web update/revamp sooner rather than later and get that process underway. Although at this point in time I do not know with certainty which modules I will be using, I do expect to end up using multiple modules in addition to Drupal core, so this requirement may become a real challenge. Re: US website theme RFC request for screenshots
Howdy, I did a few more tweaks here and there, plus added and themed user profiles. Here are a few mandatory screenshots: News post https://picasaweb.google.com/jorge.g.mare/UbuntuStudioArtwork#5595278554459506242 User profile https://picasaweb.google.com/jorge.g.mare/UbuntuStudioArtwork#5595278554875022562 Blog post https://picasaweb.google.com/jorge.g.mare/UbuntuStudioArtwork#5595284881897234786 I think the theme is evolving nicely, but there are some things that I am not still happy with. Tomorrow if I have some time I will try to work on the front page slideshow. Speaking of which, I could really use some screenshots of US in action. If you have any, please send them over this way. ;) Cheers, Jorge -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel

Mare jorge.g.m...@gmail.comwrote: Howdy, As mentioned in another message today, I have posted some screenshots of the Drupal 6 theme that I am developing for the US website. You can see the images here: https://picasaweb.google.com/jorge.g.mare/UbuntuStudioArtwork# Input/feedback is welcome, but please note that this is still at a very early stage, so be nice and ignore the rough edges (which there are many). Also, please ignore the wording; I am using mostly borrowed text as placeholders. Now I have a request. I would like to have screenshots of US in action, particularly in the application space and user cases that US specifically caters to, to use as artwork in the front page and also as part of the Screenshot section that will be added later. So I am asking you, US users, to send me your screenies. Assuming this list does not accept attachments, feel free to email them to me privately. Thanks!
