While we empathize on the bathrooms (being a major morning coffee drinker
myself), what we REALLY want to know is:
- did CAMSAT have anything realistic to say about HO-68 ?
- any new satellite radios announced by anyone ?
- I'll settle for ANY new radios announced by anyone ?

I took my wife's and my QSL card from November QSO's, and the

Yes, Alan Kung, BA1DU and CEO of CAMSAT was one of the speakers at the AMSAT
Forum. He reported that HO-68 is suffering from a bad relay or relay driver
that is used to switch from the beacon to the transponder. The likelihood

Hi Jim!
I'm also starting to get my things together for the Dayton Fest. I think
hands down AMSAT has the best demo there. You can see and hear guys
actually work the birds, see the setup and ask questions. Hope to see you
there!
Mike/N8GBU.

I picked up one of the 100 that Alinco released this morning. I'll put
together a review as soon as I get home.

I picked up one as well, early in the morning. Need to see if any of
the Alinco dealers have accessories for it. Nice little radio, and it
is a cross-band full-duplex (for 2m/70cm
Chuck,
Nominally, there are a couple of DARA repeaters which are suggested for
AMSAT:
145.410 MHz -600 KHz 118.8 Hz Pl
442.375 MHz +5 MHz 118.8 HZ Pl
I monitor them when driving around, but don't hear much AMSAT-specific
traffic. Friendly folks though! Inside the arena, I don't even try, due t
Those repeaters have been suggested by AMSAT in the past because they
are close to the Fairborn hotel where AMSAT has its room block and
because the repeater owners have welcomed us.
Setting the record straight, however, they do not belong to DARA; they
are run by the Upper Valley ARC.

My mistake! Thanks for the correction on the repeaters.

James,
Great to hear you are coming! Dayton is always a blast, and we can always
use more "booth bunnies." It is a great opportunity to put faces to calls,
and see what is going on.
There is a note in ANS about how to sign up:

Thank you to everyone who responded to my Dayton request. My next step
in my Dayton adventure will be to "get on the list". I am a new kid on
the block with regards to satellites. For 50 years I kept thinking that
it was impossible for me to work through a satellite. One day I got up

I thought it was mandatory to have at least one rain storm at

This is sad news. I did not know Dee, being a relative newcomer to the AMSAT
community, but his posts here were always informative and it is obvious he
was well liked and respected. He always seemed to be the voice of reason
when the flames started to get too hot.
A big loss to the Community.

Hey John,
Thank you for posting this. I regret very much that I can't make Dayton this
year, but I hope you get a great AMSAT turnout!
10th floor, you say? Does it face west? If so, bring your HT and Arrow along.
I'd like to at least work the hospitality suite
73, and thank you again!
