or may be that is all what he learned from him. :) making great music

arr was just a keyboard player in his studio, I reckon. not his disciple. i
honestly can't see any *need* to credit him. and besides, it is a personal
matter. why should we care ?

Nice to see some real Rahmaniacs.I hope everyone
remembers that "Thiruvasagam" by IR was released by
ARR and he just heaped praised on IR and about the
album. And as indicated, he has numerous times talked
about the "discipline" that he learned from IR.What
more you want, Do you want him to go and
I completely disagree with ur point. While Illayaraja is gud
composer, he leaves a lot to be desired as far as recognising others
go. I remember umpteen interviews where he had lot of bad things to
say abt ARR and how he has degraded tamil music. But wat the hell is
his son yuvan doing. after '
Well said sundar, infact i also read an interview with arr some years ago. In
this interview he said that he misunderstood that music directors will have
the habits like smoking, drinking etc. When i worked with IR i could know that
it is absolutely false, he said.

I don't see "much" issues with that
May be ARR did not like to mention his name. It's OK...
He may have had some bad experience with IR. IR never gave due respect to
his musicians. He is very emotional & had clash with many. He is known for
that. That's what it makes me think
Also both o

Incorrect...
ARR has said so many times..that he learnt the "DISCIPLINE" from IR.
One major reason why every likes ARR is his discpline leave his work...
ARR didn;t mention IR in this interview, doesnt mean he doesnt have
gr8 respect for him..

Yaa. Thats True.. Ilayaraja always remains to be the Maestro and our Boss

hey anish from counter 8:40 note & at 8:45 he mentions Ilayaraja :-) and
when he spks about 60s & 70s mainly not much of IR at that time. End of 70s was
start of IR... & Arr had mentioned many times about IR as one of his
mentors & playing keyboards to him in his career initially before
I think its perfectly alright for him not to mention Illayaraja's
name. What if truly he doesn't like his songs..Atleast he is not
going around saying bad things about Illayaraja, like wat Illayaraja
does when asked about Rahman.

well there is no doubt that IR is a legend.. but our boss just answered the
question asked by the interviewer.. our boss did say about MSV- ramamoorthy and
K.V mahadevan and P.Susheela but he told that those era of 60's and 70's are
the golden era of india music. he not only mentioned these nam
HI!
I dont dispute the fact that ARR revolutionized Indian Film Music, but IR
belongs to the generation before ARR. Besides, ARR is a humble disciple of IR.
So, it would be nice of him if he credits his guru when he talks about learning
music. He can credit many others too, but the fact th
does IR credit ARR for the music revolution ARR has made to the Indian music
industry? how can u expect the other way around? the interview was good and
ARR was spot on.
