Guys,
I parted out a 72 SS Chevelle to build my clone(not
much left of the SS but a frame) It has the heavy duty suspension, and what
looks to be the original rear end. Can anyone tell me how to ID the rear end, or
the gear ratio? I've scraped off the road grime, and can't find much of
Yup, rule of thumb. starter heat shields are almost free. use one or
have some girl on the internet say I told you so ;-Diane

Well, speaking from years of owning chevys I can tell
you heat shields are a good investment. I had the same problem with several cars
and it went away instantly after adding the shield. Don't believe me? call "Mega

Chad;
To tell an N.O.S 72 grill check the part number. it should be on the
back near the edge(near the pass headlight) (pt# 6261911)I'm sitting
here looking at three of them..one is a reproduction with no part
number. :-Diane

Yes I am, me and my Marine. We have a pair of Chevelles. But I'm
headed for New York state soon. Taking the Chevelle on its maiden(pardon
the gender pun) voyage. I have been enjoying reading about the 200R
transmission here lately. Been wanting to put one in my 72SS clone for
better gas

Nice Chevelle! :-Diane

I hope so! We'll look for you there! Thanks for reminding me. I
wrote it down on something, maybe an issue of CHP (Chevy high
performance) A magazine that I think gets better with time. THANKS FOR
THE REMINDER ROCKY! This chevelle list is so cool...whooops, beer-thirty

Prairie village is a great place. Ereste used to live there about 17
years ago. Off 55th street and Roe.
So, you'll be working there, that is so cool. I've got to get a
camera for this.
I'm trying to get the engine compartment perfect, and there's a few
small details I need. What
Chad;
Interesting, mine says CAV#4 then the part #. its okay, that's an
original grill. now... maybe, you have a 71 grill... does the grill have
small ear like projections at the top and bottom of the headlight part
of the grill? if it is rounded its a 71. if it has ears to make the
headlight
John;
I'd bet Mega torque could get you one. Thanks, I appreciate
your thoughts. I just try to help. I'm new here, but I have loved Chevelles for
as long as I can remember. And yeah, the people here are great. I think this
chevelle-list is allot of fun. I admit I don't know it all, and big
Yo Joe,
So what's changed? I liked it when I joined it, just my first few
posts got lost and I got stern. My opinion hasn't changed a bit. You
trying to start something with me? ;-D Want to race? , , ah shoot,my
Chevelles in pieces right now. You just hold that thought...Pep
No,
went on with the starter if I remember right. I don't remember it being a big
deal. Pep

Have
you checked for vapor lock? Do you have a carb isolator? Lines too close to the
manifold? Cracked distributor that acts up when warm?...cracked fuel lines near
the tank? Mine did the same thing, found a cracked rubber fuel line. Its fixed
now. ;-Diane
Yeah,
that would do it!!
But don't forget to look up in the front of the gas
tank and check the lines. 30 years ago they were new...

Obviously Larry has an opinion. I've received it three times in my
email-box. Do you people talk at all about Chevelles here? I've posted a
question twice today with no response. I joined this list to talk about
Chevelles, not other people. Lets try this one again...
I have a 72 Chevelle
Hello and Thanks for getting back to me,
Yes, twice. probably more than that because I don't think I
sent it off right the first time, and I think I've tried reposting it
all in all three or four times today.
Sarcasm? I'll happily apologize for sounding off earlier, I never saw

Thanks for your input. I'm sorry for the sarcasm. I take it
my earlier posts are floating out in the web somewhere. Thanks for your input, I
don't think I should have to paint the grill either, but I had to ask. I don't
know what that other guy said to upset you, but remind me not to
John;
No, Its N.O.S and was listed as perfect. But it looks like
solvent got onto it in a couple places and bleached the black plastic white. no
damage or pits, and for $100 I don't know whether to send it back or just paint
it. But I hate to take it to a show and get dibbed for painting
John;
Sarge said to check with you about new Chevelle grills. Do
you sell them? How much are they? These blemishes are pretty small, I am being
picky, because I want to take this Chevelle to Shows. I was wondering if I
applied a slight amount of heat if it wouldn't bring the black back... I
Thanks
Kerry! I think I'll go for it! Diane
Mark;
I'm no expert, but I just replaced my drums to discs and was told
I could easily go to 15's which I did. I understand if the upper control
arm was changed to tubular its possible to go to 17's. I think CHP
(chevy high performance) did an article on it. Anyone else know? :-Diane
Thanks Trooper!
Its what I think I expected to hear. Did you pilot drill those
staples or just go for it?
In ref to my earlier post you had to be there. I sent two queries today
with no response, instead I did receive Sarge's (3) nastygrams to
someone else and I still don't know what
Thanks trooper, thank you all in fact. I've learned allot here today.
This is a great little forum. Was there a website that goes with these
emails, or is it just a list of Chevelle owners who get to chat? I can't
thank you enough for the instant responses. I hope to have pictures
later this year
