I am just wondering about these things:
- What is LittlePenguin ?
- What are these [LP RPM] announcements that show up on these list ?
- Is Christian Zoffoli really working for Mandrakesoft ? (Because, then I wonder if
LittlePenguin will result in a new Mandrake distribution ?)
Thanks for
1 Version is returned as "1" instead of "2.2.17-21mdk"
2 System.map is specified with "-F", not "-m"
Thanks

Hello,
I am working in a company that currently uses SuSE as its standard
distribution.
This weekend, we tested some Distributions, Mandrake included.
Mandrake was very good (probably the best !).
I would really like to use Mandrake, but there we miss a great
Initscript that SuSE includes. It
I dont know if this has been addressed before but ISDN setup is still not
working very well (at least in 7.2). Yes, I can get my hardware to work with
isdn setup and manually calling
ifup ippp0
isdnctrl dial ippp0
route add default ippp0
You're absolutely right, I had the same problem.
KPPP doesn't dock anymore. I missed KDE1 when KPPP can dock into the
panel when it dials up. Note that I didn't try this yet on 1.99
though...
kppp --- setup --- misc tab and select dock on connect.
I think you're wrong. KDE2 doens't support docking of KDE1-Apps.
(But perhaps kppp
Why does DrakX show up "German (Germany)" and "German (Austria)" in Languages
selection display ?
I don't know any differences between these two choices...
During installation process, people have to create a new user (no root !) with
adduserdrake.
I would like to have three buttons in this program:
- Cancel (if he doesn't want to add a user)
- Finish (if he just wants to add one user)
- Add one more user (if he wants to create more than one user)
When I try to start mousedrake, I get this message:
"Please wait while probing serial port ..."
"Undefined subroutine mouse::names at /usr/sbin/mousedrake line 25"
There the program stops.
Any idea ?
Is it normal that Mandrake automatically starts "inet" AND "xinet" services ???
If not, please add a checkroutine that de-activates inet (since xinet is
default) when xinet is choosen.
This is Version 1.1 of kimon, a ISDN-Monitor for the KDE Desktop
Environment. This program opens a small window in the taskbar showing
the status of two ISDN-channels.
I do not think this will be needed, because LM 7.2 only ships with KDE2, not KDE1.
KDE2 does not support docking of

a cd-burner. But the problem is that the ide-scsi module is not loaded
automatically. After doing it manually everything works fine.
isn't scsi_hostadapter written in /etc/modules?

- ISDN is absolutely not working with my card. It's an AVM Fritz plug 'n play.
Problems:
- Harddrake doesn't recognize the card (Type is 27)
- After setting Type, IRQ and IOPORT in /etc/isdn/profile/card/mycard manually, I
tried to start /etc/rc.d/init.d/isdn4linux, which fails:

0.7.99 was just a short step to get back from 8 months of no changes.
Since 1 or 2 weeks, there is already 0.8.0 out.

I have a problem during the installation of LM 7.2 beta.
After choosing my mouse in expert mode (it's an IntelliMouse PS/2), the mouse
hangs.
I have already posted this here some time ago. It works if you scoll your wheel.
So that's OK.
But what if a user doesn't know this?
What about:

When installing Mandrake in expert mode and choosing single packages, the
installer reports sizes in wrong units:
It says a package is about xxx Megabytes instead of xxx Kilobytes.
I had reported this one week ago (before Beta 2), but it doesn't seem to be
fixed.
Perhaps this is only in German
I have a problem with a computer that has a 20 GB IDE harddisk.
The problem is that Diskdrake doesn't recognize it's partitions. I know this
has to do with a limit at about 7.8 GB if I remember right...
no such limit under linux. Can you give the error message *and* the partition
table?
As described above.
When I install Mandrake and want to choose single packages, I always have to
choose my own list.
What about an option to save this list to disk and to read the back in a later
installation?
This is not the same like the Auto-Install-Disk. It's just the package-list.
Anybody who wants to add
These are some bugs that I have seen while installing Mandrake 7.2 beta 2:
- My Matrox Produktiva 8MB isn't recognized by the setup program. After
selecting it from the list, it works. 7.1 recognized it well...
- I see that inetd is still selected as the standard (I think it should be
xinetd ?)
Hi all,

Hi all,
since there is no support for KDE1-docking-applets (see http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-develm=96546797005320w=2
to learn more about this), why don't you remove these apps from LM7.2 ???
Right now, I only know "kimon" which is useless whithout the panel
feature.

Hey Mikey,
please stop posting mails with this crap like signature and pgp-key. I
think this is not required for posting ...

Thank you

Hi all,
I recently got LM7.2 beta. Here are the problems and bugs I have
reported during setup: (Everything was seen during "Expert" mode)
Important bugs:
- Perhaps it's not a bug, but I've seen that the standard security for a
workstation is now "low". In LM 7.1 it was "medium".
