It looks like you are trying to install the testing version of
locales. Since you have a woody installation, check your
/etc/apt/sources.list to make sure it includes
an internal glibc
symbol that they shouldn't have. I think someone has told me that
blackdown has released a fixed 1.3 release, otherwise you'll have to use
the 1.4 and complain to Sun :)

I'm trying to setup a machine for development and I just can't get
glibc-2.2.3 to build on potato.
background
In the past I've used debian-unstable for doing development, the

I just installed CUPS 1.1.9 on a machine running 2.2r3 (2.2.18pre21
kernel). It is working fine.
Next, I installed it (with the 2.4.* deb file from http://www.cups.org)
on a machine running 2.2r3 with the 2.4 support packages and with the
2.4 kernel.
CUPS installs okay, but when I try to start
Hi Randy,
I've got the same problem when trying to install the 2.4.* deb-file
for cups 1.1.9. They've linked the executables against the new version
2.2 of glibc. I like to run a stable system, that's the reason why I
still stay with potato. So for me it was no choice to upgrade such a

When trying to dselect upgrade to woody, I keep running into errors that
say that GLIBC_2.2 is required, I tried adding things that say they have
glibc, but it doesn't seem to fix it. Any recommendations?

The easiest way to upgrade to woody is with 'apt-get dist-upgrade'.
Also note that the most durable way is to use dselect.

potato is based on glibc-2.1 -- woody is based on glibc-2.2
So although a libc6 package is installed it may be the case that it
is not the one from woody. As already

Hello folks,
I am struggling with getting nisplus to work on Debian. I installed the
(unofficial) nisplus packages from http://www.realbodo.de/ and set
everything up correctly. I've already set up nisplus successfully on
RedHat, so at least I know what I'm doing and that I can get it right.
