Hi,
At our office, the dhcp server is NT4 server :-( By the way, i can get
an IP address from my linux box with dhcpcd or pump. But, the NT server
is couple with the DNS/NIS server (unix box) i.e. When the NT server
attribute a new ip address to an windows box (9x or NT) it transfer the

It sounds like you're running into a feature of sendmail. That is, it
won't accept mail from a system that doesn't resolve correctly both ways.
One way you can get around this is use the "smart relay" feature of
sendmail, and relay the messages through your ISP's mail server. This way

Hi,
I have seen quite a lot messages recently about failing smbmount mounted
shares from Win9x. Most people (including myself) experience disappearing
shares after some time - not reconnecting automatically - instead you have
to umount the share and smbmount it again.

I have just updated the kernel, kernel-headers and kernel-sources.
Guess what - vmware (1.1) does not work anymore. It refuses to make the
new vmware-modules with words: probably there is a small difference
between your kernel-sources and the running kernel. Try recompili

thank you all for the feedback!
I did get the tekram 390F and it works perfectly under mandrake 6.0. I
simply compiled it into the kernel under the NCM53CXXX (or something
close to this) driver When you do make menuconfig it tells you under help
for the various drivers which one is best suited f
Hi,
After applying the recommended update for Mandrake 6.1 to
wu-ftpd-2.6.0, I can no longer ftp in as myself. Anonymous access
still works. I've checked shells, ftphosts, ftpusers, and ftpaccess
in /etc. All seems to be in order (I can get access using
wu-ftpd-2.5.0).
Any suggestions?
Thank
I tried to compile the kernel source in updates (version 2.2.13-22mdk),
and got the error message listed below in the "make bzImage" phase of
the compile. Any ideas about how to fix this?

Just as a suggestion-
try killing one process then another and note if
the swaping to disk contiues. Be sure you execute
"sync" b4 doing so. and check the size of your swap
partition.

I can sing a ballade about current lpr-bugs... This is becomming utterly
annoying - i have been using linux for 5 years and NEVER BEFORE have i
seen such a grave bug (or is it better to say "such a beautifull bug-zoo"?)
persisting for such a long time in any linux distribution.

Just wanted to thank all people who gave me a lot of

As it turned out, I had a network card that:
a) requires setting under DOS, and my PC is 100% linux

b) that particular card is probably also bug

something really strange happend to the computer. On both computers
(server+client) I've installed Mandrake 6.1. The client only uses a

Hello,
I have started playing with mutt yesterday, because as nice
as kmail is, I also need a text-only mail user agent.
I have found the following problems, and I'm not sure if
they are a bug in mutt, kmail, or some nasty interaction
between them.
In mutt (Mandrake 6.1 version), I opened a mbo

I have heard of the hylafax before, but i do not know anybody who is
using it. As hylafax is not a part of the distribution, i decided to give
