Looking at a map, there ain't much South of Pahokee. It looks like it's all
swamp! I am dropping out of this, becasue evidently the only thing that is
South Florida is the Caribbean Sea being that Key West isn't
Generally, the term south Florida refers to the greater Miami area, and
implies everything urban that goes along with that.
Geographically,as pointed out here by the pedantic among us [smile], there is
much more to south Florida.
In terms of culture, I'd put Key West closer to the Caribbean

When I lived there in the early 80s, Miami was truly and international city.
The population back then was about 1/3 Anglo, 1/3 Hispanic, 1/6 Black, and
1/6 Haitian. Of the Hispanic population, there were significant Columbian,
Venezuelan, and Nicaraguan populations. In the Black population there
LOL. Jacksonville to NYC is about twice as far if you're measuring by driving
time but less than twice as far in miles. I've driven them both. I'd much
rather go to Key West from Jacksonville.
