This is probably one of the scripts you use for Admin Mod
i've solved it. one of my admins did it. but hlds should have logged it.
and it's linked to adminmod.. not hlds.

After checking everything on the server and unable to find anything, I
decided possibly something had gone funky with the steam install. I deleted
the entire install, and started again. No more system cpu usage spikes, and
seems to be back to its old self. Something obviously went bad with the

Yes but his concern was cpu usage, he didn't mention any problems with
pings.

Uhm why don't you remove it to check? Is this how low this mailing list
sunk?

Yes but my understanding was that 1000MHZ is better way to do the same thing
as ping boost.
The idea is to get pings down I still have some CPU left, we were running at
80% CPU last
night with 32 players and pings are better then they were with pingboost
before the re-compile.

1000Mhz option will actually increase the cpu usage and not decrease it.
Also pingboost 1 on some systems causes more cpus on others it doesn't. On
my freebsd system I saw cpu usage drop with -pingboost 1 and increase on my
readhat.

This is what we have done on our Red Hat Linux 7.3 with P4 2.4GHZ and 1GB
ram
What I would like to do is get the server up to 32 players and we did last
night but my ping was 150 that's about 8
Just a quick question. If I remove the pingboost 1 option from my DOD server
will the CPU usage decrease noticably?
Thanks,
Tony

I think that I just caught the end of this one ...
What does HLSW do on ports 7130-7135? (dest or source ports from the point
of view of an incoming packet to the server - I guess dest but worth
checking?)
Thanks,
Tony

yes it's hlsw causing _a lot_ of lag because all your logs are transmited
live to a remote box. i use this for irc-bots.. but only in competition, with
only 1 hlds running on that machine. it's very cpu consuming.
change the rcon_pass or block the ports.

Yep, it's Cheating Death 4.3.0! Had exactly the same problem.
BTW: Also had problems with 4.2.0 crashing too.
Currently I am using the most stable 4.1.0, even though this creates phantom
double processes of hlds_run.
A very disappointed ...
