I've never gotten that behaviour from the maximize button on X3270, but I regularly use
its -oversize option. Works great, if it will be enough for your customer.

They don't desire a odd model configuration, just a way to blow up a mod
2 screen, then put it back.

Why don't they just drag the corner of the window to resize it?
Or from the menu: Options - Fonts - pick size

I resize my window by dragging the bottom right window corner and the
font changes automatically to fit in the window. What version of x3270
are you running? I am using version 3.3.4p7.

Dragging the
Interesting. I have 3.3.20 installed (with SUSE 10). Did you build
from source?

I don't really know. :-)
I downloaded the package and ran the stuff mentioned in the
html/Build.html file. On SUSE 10/pro.
BUT, I have been able to resize with previous releases. I just tested
version 3.3.2 and it worked there also.

That's a function of the window manager, not the application (although
the application will need to respond to the appWinResize X event). Which
window manager are they running?
In general,
The intent is to start x3270 with four sessions on each corner (much
like a 3290). The operator would then want to maximize a screen on
occasion to see it easier.
When I try to maximize the window, I very briefly get a gray block on
the screen where the image might be, then it just drops

Thanks for the tip, Rick.

Unless you have security or support policies prohibitting it, I STRONGLY
urge you to build it from source. This is a fairly straightforward app
to build. (X apps are the worst, but X3270 is the easiest X app I have
ever built.)
That is exactly what I did.
