IMHO, the question is quite a simple one.
If you have a written (or oral) agreement which does not explicitly state
that you should hand over the source code, you should not need to do so.
If you have been hired to do a product, then the Product is what you need to
hand over. Nothing else.

Dear listees,
I am working on a movie that represents a tangoing couple dancing with in a
perspective screen. I have scaled them via an index of the y co-ordinate.
The floor of the ballroom is of course a rhombus. The constrain behaviour
work with the bounding box of the containing sprite. Hence
Give them the code. What are they going to do with it?
1. Hire some other dir developer who is equal to or beyond
you in ability,
and will likely just toss your code in the dumpster while
replicating the
functionality in his own style.
2. Is not as good of a coder, and will struggle to
Hi,
thanks for the replies. Wow, such a divide. :)
While I agree with Kurt's comments re: 'we constantly give away our lingo to
the members on the list', lists are a pretty unique environment (IMHO), with
the purpose of asking the community/like-minded individuals for help and
putting something
By the way, don't you think most people in here learned a great deal thanks
to the people who share their findings???
Books are one thing - but books can't tell you everything, unless you've got
the time to read em all - I know I don't.
And still yet, the books would be quite useless without
You know, I even go a step farther and comment out all of my code as to
what each bit is doing.
I've never had an issue where someone ripped apart my stuff so they could
do it themselves -- although I was paid to train a few people in
basics...I had no problem with that.
Personally, I have
ooops sorry, it is Windoze only, and dir8.5...
thanks,

Doesnt' work for me - first tried it in D8 - said filetypewas too new.

Hello there
I have question to share
Well, I'm going to work on a project using flash-director to build
interactive demo for local accounting s/w... The bad news is the lowest
spec for client is Pentium-100 Mhz-16Mb and recommended at p166MMX-32Mb
(for lowest functional system)...
I don't
Basically, I have done three things in the past:
1. Give the source code to them for 10x development cost (which was clearly
stated in the contract prior)
2. Gave them the code but ran it through an obscufier first. This one was
only when the client threatened a lawsuit because they failed to
I agree with you to some extent..but..in this day and age I would be even
more hesitant to hand over anything to a corporate client that deals with
code. I enjoy helping the people on the list, they usually are not asking
for us to do the project for them so no big deal. But your statement on I
Hi Victor,
I'm sure you will receive some wonderful suggestions from this list in regards to your
situation. Let me begin by suggesting the use of an xtra to gain information about
the end user's processing capabilities. Buddy API can return the following
information about the user's CPU.
How do you do a volume control for an MPEG Video being played through Direct
Media Xtra?

HI All
I have a funny problem.
I want to generate a list with some specific data
everytime I create a
sprite.
The name of the list should always be like list1, list
2, list 3 and so
on...where the number corresponds to the sprite number
which is stored in a
variable say count.
so basically i
look into the do command.

thanks again, tom. i came to a solution with a repeat coomand that sent back
all the sprites to their default value through spriteNum, but yours is
smoother and more clean, so i'll use it. also, i'll take a look to that
sendAllSprites command, it looks quite useful.

it may be annoying, but if you are a subcontractor, you always have to hand
over the code, ( i thought).
even if you have a direct contact with someone, the debate is what you are
selling, if you are selling the source with the finished product, you
should draw a contract with this

It works perfectly well in authoring mode on Mac and PC. However, when i use

I've got a little shockwave app that gets a list of video to link to from

them at a time and preloadnetthing them to the user's cache.

Not meaning to imply things, as I am bound by an NDA-type contract-- but the
winner doesn't receive the cash until up to 90 days AFTER the airdate. (I
