Ipod Touch Sync Problems

Hello, I have an Ipod Touch 4G 32GB and Itunes for the PC. Whenever I try to sync, Itunes gets to "step 3 of 7" and won't proceed any further. I have to restart the computer to get out of Itunes. I'm running WE 7.5.3 on a Windows 7 HP laptop. I haven't upgraded to 5.1 or Itunes 10.6 yet. T
