append the 127.0.0.1 line in /etc/hosts with anything you want your computer to
think is itself. I think most of the time the system is set to first resolve
from hosts and then DNS.
hosts is good for setting up names in small networks where you can easily set
things up.

We have a new name! The Sig formerly known as SigLinux is now SigFree. The purpose of
the change is to avoid the idea that a GNU/Linux system is called a Linux system as
well as to make the name shorter. The other option was SigGNU/Linux, but SigFree flows
off the tongue much more easily.
