I have spent some time adding the ability to go to and from web
map URLs in my program for viewing tiled maps.

The part that parses web map URLs is:

for highway routes, can we do
something similar for street names in addresses?

or level of importance as road editing. As one person who has
edited Georgia land use boundaries manually I would be fine with
replacing the whole import including my edits if a newer/better
dataset or import strategy wanted to replace the old one.

P.S. I don't want to distract you all too much with another
project, but this idea reminds me of Distributed Proofreaders:
http://www.pgdp.net/
They have had a lot of success with making it easy for people to
help proofread texts for Project Gutenberg, one page at a time
error if these are.
Thank you for this contribution to OSM, this seems much faster
than waiting for us to notice each of these links and fix them
manually.

look I can see it would leave many named streams
disconcertingly disconnected from the network because the stream they
flow into lacks a name.
