Very nice! I like that idea, but thought
perhaps you could try implementing that into the sparkle ones. I agree
that the icons should be similar, but show a difference. However the up
arrow looks a little too much like a house to me. Makes me think of the
"home" folder.

the idea with different icons for different update sorts is very nice
and we should integrate that in future version.
My idea about that, don't use different icons, many users go crazy and
thinking on different apps. I would use colors, orange for "normal",
green for "all ok" and red for

I would think that the arrow icon would work well in conjunction with
the notification bubble that we currently get. Actually it would be even
better if the icon was on the bubble too. It would certainly draw a lot
more attention to the message.

just wanted to add that i think the Tango icon would, or does

That's probably not a good idea, since it's a metaphor based on language
(like the old "log" icon for the system log. We shouldn't do that,
because such metaphors won't necessarily work in all languages.
