I've tried to restart session and to enable this opengl option on a couple of
different machines but I can't see any difference in term of speed, also
launcher and dash are not trasparent if I don't enable metacity compositor.

I get low frames per second using glxgears, the half of what I got with Natty

Yesterday didrocks made me notice the issue is still present in the other parts

It happens when I log in "Ubuntu" session (instead of Ubuntu-2D) in a system
without 3D extension so the system automatically fallback to unity-2d.

Unfortunately there were some issues with frambuffer/fbdev (and X doesn't

Yes, I tweaked grub default colors some months ago so I've probably messed up
this file (instead of working on linked file!).
Removed it manually and update-alternatives completed succesfully.
You're right is not a plymouth bug, it was me not remembering what I've done!

Omer I still have this issue... session hangs completely after a few minutes
with nouveau drivers,
no problems with proprietary 270.xx drivers.
I have a Nvidia 250gts 1gb and fully updated natty

Karl, I don't see the issue no more, now it always open the preferences applet
correctly.
Strange thing I haven't done any updates or manually change. I've tried to do
some reboot, tried to launch it from terminal and directly from
indicator-datetime menu, it works well.
Don't know, I hope it is
"ps ax | grep indicator-datetime-preferences"
shows no running process:

I think the bug you pointed out is the correct one.. i tought it was related to
evolution removal.

If I uninstall evolution package I cannot open anymore
indicator-datetime-preferences, from both the indicator and from terminal.
It doesn't produce any output or error/debug information
