I'll call it Temp-home(TH) to save typing
On previous installs of Ubuntu, I use an existing seperate /home, I'll call it

OK, Unity / status bar problem resolved in both 12.10 and 13.04
Solution:-
From 12.10(gnome-panel) copied all files from TH to PH, and re-booted.
Unity/status bar are back on both 13.04 and 12.10.
Got some tuning to do on 13.04, currently using X.Org X server driver, but all
looking good so far

work. I have to change this value by CCSM every login on to Unity.

After uninstalling the new kernel 3.8.0-19 and reinstalling of the
fglrx-updates-packages all works again!

I have a Sony Vaio with Nvidia video card and I can run 2 monitors off it
(TwinView or Xinerama via Nvidia configuration).
I also have 2 USB adapters to run two additional monitors. I can do this on
Windows easily, but the laptop suffers due to Windows size.

Fairly recent, I only changed the default for SNA so you would only have
experienced the change on the switch in raring. Considering the
limitations upon hardware, the change is advisable for both gen2 and
gen3 (more so for gen2 than gen3), and a very popular customisation
amongst gen2 users.

I am running the latest NVIDIA driver, and I now have the correct screen
resolution, but it is crashing after a few minutes, especially when web
browsing. The browser will become unresponsive, turn dark, then the
mouse will freeze, then the entire machine will reboot after about 20
seconds or so.
In any case, how to I set the depth to 24, regardless of the arguments
and indecision over the default setting?
Note X -configure is problematic.

After installing ubuntu I had some internet disconnecting problems, and tried
