NuEra did a thing > on Trace Elements 3 on 21/22 (label linked to > Ele_mental, Titonton, Archetype/Monochrome and Todd > Sines are/were all Ele_mentals). Sorry I'm late on this thread, but have to mention there is a 4Hero remix of one of Titonton's tracks on his (I think second?) record for Metamorphic, the Endorphin EP (this was not the orange label one, which was the Embryonic EP). Also speaking of the Deepest Shade of Techno vol. 2, I think that is the one with the Claude Young track "the woodwork" on it, which in my opinion is one of his finest tracks ever. And the Art Forest track on there "Flow" (96 edit) is classic too. And to bring it back to present day, (speaking of Dego remixes) there is an amazing remix by him on the Joakim Lone Octet: Tiger Sushi remixes 12" (on the French 'Future Talk' imprint, [sublabel of Versatile I guess?]). ALso has a great Alex Attias (aka.- Catalyst, Mustang) remix ... I think there was more than 1 slab of remixes of JLO, some better than others. peace -- Matt MacQueen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.reverbmag.com archived radio shows --> http://macqueen.com/radio

Re: [313] kim rapatti
Hello, I would recommend avoiding "gloom" which was a full length that he put out on Dum in 96. I would try before you buy with Kimmo Rapatti, he has put out some great records(like the ones listed below,) but he has put out some real duds as well. What I would give my right arm for would be a complete collection of early Sahko records...Kimmo is good, but Mika Vanio's early techno output was much better. DJ Ben WU - Drum Damage
Once again it'll be a special Wednesday night from 2359 to 0200 at CJAM 91.5 (windsor/detroit). This week's show will be featuring the tribal sounds of DJ Ben Wu's latest mixes "Drum Damage" 1 and 2 as I continue to profile young, next generation DJs and producers from the Windsor,Detroit and Toronto regions. DJ Ben Wu's sounds and skills are are top notch and he'll take you on rides through techno, house, electro and more so tune in or log on and listen to the live web feed at www.uwindsor.ca/cjam/live More on DJ Ben WU: He wasn't born into a family of musicians, didn't go to a school of art and he didn't purchase his first pair of turntables at the tender age of thirteen. So what does Detroit's dj Ben Wu have going for him? Put plain and simple: An unwavering passion for electronic music. In early '95, while attending college, a friend let Ben borrow Fuse's (Richie Hawtin) "Dimension Intrusion" and this same friend later brought him to his first party where Richie was playing. These two events in Ben's life were major turning points and how the seeds of Techno were planted. It was Detroit's early rave scene where the passion was then cultivated and has since grown to a near obsession for all beats hard and funky. Over the past two years, Ben has proven to be one of Detroit's hottest up and coming DJs. He has played everything from large raves, to clubs, to the occasional house party. No matter what the size, Ben has always attempted to convey his passion to the crowd through his music. Among some of his accomplishments are winning a DJ spin-off at the now defunct clubnight "Solar", which was run by the Intuit-Solar label and was host to many national/international acts. He also held a Saturday residency at Detroit Science during the summer of 2000 and has opened up for the likes of Richard "Humpty" Vision and Danny Tha Wildchild, to name a few. Ben's style is to keep variety in his sets, while remaining true to the beat. His sets are hard to define. Tribal House? Tech-House? Breakbeat House? However you choose to categorize it, one thing remains true it will make you move. _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
T-shirt update
I have found the site with last years submissions, sorry I was not on the list at the time that took place. Thanks to all those who forwarded information so far. Some of the submissions from that first round are year specific, which makes me think that maybe we should allow some time for those to be resubmitted and new entries as well. I also think that the way those designs should be presented should be anonymous. Maybe an A,B,C kind of thing. This makes it fair for everyone who submitted( or makes it harder for list members for canvas for votes) I'm also of the mind to keep it simple with shirts. 313 is not the largest community out there and I'd like everyone who orders to be happy with the final product. I'd like it to be an affordable thing and running two sweatshirts here and three long sleeve shirts there will not be cheap. (I'm not doing this for the money by the way) T-shirts are pretty flexible and I think a good first step. Maybe 2002 will be something else. I'd like to get a plan together as to how we make this a reality and will post that this week. Anyone who has further information or contacts that they would like to pass along should feel free. thanks again to those who replyed so far dave p

minimal request
After finally cleaning my car and finding numerous old mix tapes under the seats (along with pens, french fries, and other interesting artifacts), I ran across one tape that Israel Vines sent me a few years back where he featured mostly minimal techno. Because of it, I have been on this Rob Hood kick since then and would like to familiarize myself with different approaches taken by DJs on 313 on his work. My request: please e-mail me privately if some of your recorded sets focus on Hoods work I would like to get a copy of it. Best regards. Reviews
I did a brief record shop yesterday with another flying visit to Rough Trade this afternoon. Here, in two categories, are the results: What I did buy: Blaze - Natural Blaze LP - Lifeline The album from which the excellent "Elevations" single was taken, "Natural Blaze" seems to be a vehicle for the vocalist Jon Toney, and is a superb double pack confirming Blaze's status as true dons of the NY soulful garage sound. The sort of music that David Mancuso's sound system was designed to play. A lot of it is very familiar: "Elevations" is surely just based on "The World Is The Ghetto", and there's another one that's a version of their "Directions" track for Spiritual Life. Blaze almost single handedly keep me interested in the kind of music being made for Body & Soul etc. for the simple reason that they blatantly have a lot of soul. Strand - Message 1 Frictional is, alongside Sound Signature, one of the only labels I'll buy on sight just now, and this release keeps the standard flying. Deep, soulful, and above all, original without sounding like a wide ass student. There might be a pressing fault - there's some serious noise at the end of the second side of my copy. In any case, if this was on Planet E a lot more would be said about it, which is a shame. Natural Electronics - Assimilated 2nd of two stunning releases on Frictional. Shakir has a knack of producing really experimental stuff yet it always sounds extremely honest, even when it isn't particularly dance floor friendly. I thought his remix of Inner City was a bit below par, but this is true to previous form. Shake really deserves a bit more recognition, now - he's been at it for years and, on evidence like this, he could rival the likes of Carl Craig for reputation. Moodymann - NMY Wagon I'm waiting for a vague feeling that KDJ is beginning to tire for me, but it never materialises. Deep, soulful, funny and with a kick drum that overpowers the USG remix of Urban Soul's "My Urban Soul" - which is a shame, because last night's mix tape was going really well 'til then. Infesticons - Gun Hill Road LP Mike Ladd's production sounds really thin on some of this, and all in all it's a hit and miss album. Might be a grower, but not my preferred candidate for the "experimental hip hop album" thread. Certainly has it's moments, though, particularly Rob Smith's "Chase Theme". The Saul Williams track is a let down, the P-Funk type of concept is too obvious and half assed and, as said, the Liquid Liquid styled production sounds, at times, extremely insipid. I bought it on sight, stupidly. Inner City vs E Dancer - Good Love I picked this up from work, as I suspected I'd love it. I wish I could, but I don't. Shake's mix is OK, but I was expecting a lot more. As for the other mixes, the main mix on its own (I forget which one's which remix) is the better, but the fusion of old school Inner City with new school E Dancer doesn't quite pull off what is, in essence, a superb idea. I'm undecided whether to return it to get the vouchers back, or file it away as part of an ongoing tribute to flawed visions. What I didn't buy: Latest Charles Webster - Peacefrog Top notch remixes of the old Love From San Francisco "Want Me Like Water" track. I should have bought this instead of that Infesticons LP, fer sure. Remixes of the above remixes - Peacefrog Less essential than the original remixes (excuse the oxymoron), especially as it's only 4 mixes spread over a doublepack and I'm a tight Scot. Herbert mix sounds good, though, so I'll keep an eye out for it coming in to work. The others are less impressive, though the Abacus one's alright - even if his old, talking female voice trick is a bit predictable. Ian Pooley on Transmat Bizarrely impressive, for a man who's released some real cack of late (with exceptions). Again, I'll try to pick it up at work. If I didn't buy that damned Infesticons LP I'd have got this and the original remixes above. Saul Williams LP Excrutiatingly bad at points. Damn impressive at others (particularly the opener). Bad outweighed good, though. Carl Hancock Rux - Lamentations Nobody has it. Though absolutely every shop said they were ordering in thousands of copies. By the time I get paid again it'll have sold out, no doubt. Jonny.
new kraftwerk
from : side-line newsletter [01 March 2001] Exclusive: Kraftwerk to release new album in June The belgian EMI office confirmed us this afternoon that EMI is to release a brand new album by Kraftwerk in June. The release has no title yet, but we'll keep you informed on the matter. There's no news either whether there will be a single release as well. Meanwhile you can listen to a special with lots of unrelesed live material by following the link below. - Download Kraftwerk special - http://audio.wmnf.org/ram/kraftwerk.ram
Re: [313] "Aerodynamic"
The whole damn album is off the hook, I can assure you! It's much better than Homework (more diverse) and One More Time is atypical. The point of One More Time was to bridge albums and it was meant to be more celebratory than innovative, so M Bangalter says. It sounds like they had fun making it and there really isn't a bad track on there. One More Time starts the album and it sounds great in context. It's one of the most credible big name/major label dance albums I have heard. >Has anyone heard the new Daft Punk single "Aerodynamic"? It's such a funky >track! I'm just glad that it's not like "One More Time" - I was starting to >worry! : o > The album gets released in the U.K on Monday so I can safely say there's at >least one good reason to go out and buy it!
313 T-Shirts
I know there was a small discussion a few weeks ago about getting a 313 shirt done for DEMF. I'd be interested in making this happen if there was enough support from the list to get a good order together. We could obviously have an open competition to pick a design (entries could be posted on the net) This would have to happen somewhat soon though so as to avoid any rush charges tagged on by the printer. I'm in NYC and there are a lot of folks that could do the shirts for a good price. I'd like to find out though if this is something worth doing especially since we have a bit of time to work with before the end of May. Email me back privately and let me know so as not to swamp the list. I'll post again in a few days to let you know what the response has been. dave p (yes it's still snowing here!)

It could be the Masters at Work "Stop & Listen volume 5" compilation on BBE. That has "Thousand Finger Man" on it and a whole host of latin influenced etc. tracks - it is the MAW after all. Don't know what that track in particular might be on that, maybe "Rude Movements" by Sun Palace? Something to try, anyway. Jonny.
[313]jazz show
Hello list, My name is John Arnold. Some of you might know me from my fragile/transmat record. I would like to invite you to a show I am having this Friday, March 9th at the Magic Bag. My world music group (Blackman and Arnold) will be having it's record release party. The show will not be electronic, it will be live acoustic jazz. Also, Francisco Mora(the drummer from the Innerzone Orchestra) is opening the show for us with his jazz quartet. I think I am more excited to see Francisco, then I am to release my c.d. It would be cool to see some of you at the show. peace, ja _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Any of the Nord lead series is phat as hell. The first version should be pretty cheap by now. He may play another show in Melbourne this weekend, not sure. Check out his new Mardi Gras mix-CD too - it's good! Mardi Gras are taking it back to an ol' skool sound, ditching that NRG prog sound.
