(313) cc's new mix comp
hi all, i just bought carl craig's new mix compilation cd today called "onsumothasheeat." if i owned a record store i would put it in the electronic, spacey, jazzy, techno and sometimes drum and bass section. i am interested in hearing others opinions on it. i really enjoy listening to it for the first time. it definately has a different flavor than his last mix comp (djkicks). it seems very loungey. the only thing i want to know is how much additional production work did he do with his powerbook which is listed as equipment he used for the cd? -sam __ Do You Yahoo!? New Aztec Mystic???
On 430 West's site, under Rolando's Discography, they list "The Z Tracks" under his latest releases. The catalog numbers are URTZ-001, 002, 003. What is this all about? I loved it. :) Didn't hang around for HMC's set, as it was too much of a shock to the system. (V. hard techno, compared to the way Jeff ended his set.. ) cya, Kieran

Someone just told me that Juan was never paid for his track being used in the Focus commercial, he also said that it was being taken to court. Is this true? -Stacey

Just back from Austin. Merrick Brown, Kid 606, DGP and DJ Assault ripped it up last night, although attendance seemed a bit slim. Some of the DGP material was a new direction from what I heard @ DEMF, and I like it, particularly the last song (perharps Andy Toth can fill us in)? Merrick played a *really* diverse set in his typical style - always a personal fav. Kid 606 was all over the place. Very interesting material, all from 2 laptops. And this was my first time seeing DJ Assault. I hope my body will never convulse quite like that again. :) Thoroughly enjoyable. I was also blessed with the opportunity to see Lee Scratch Perry and the Mad Professor the night before and some great Japanese punkabilly the night before that. Austin's a great place and city goes nuts for the festival. Highly recommended for those who can make it next year. Unfortunately with 900 bands in 5 days, there's only so much you can see. So I missed some of the other great acts. Anyone else see anything less well-known of 313 relevance. Wish I saw the Ecstacy of St. Theresa, but they were playing opposite the Mad Professor. Jeff Mills : What am i gonna do gonna do.....
Jeff Mills played in Adelaide last friday night here's my thoughts i'd be interested to hear others from around oz when he plays. firstly big respect to the locals on the night only caught the last few mins of Dj Bundi but Dj Bold (vast recordings/Dirty House) who was playing live for the first time in adelaide was rockin slamming acid type techno and Cycloid (undefined records) were fantastic they really warmed the crowd up well a fair but harder than their recent releases but just what the crowd seemed to want. Now for Jeff Rockin' absolutely superb had all the new tunes i wanted to hear and more thrown in with a few of the expected and a few classics. What can i say? As soon as i heard Moodymann's I can't kick this feeling i knew i was in for something good this was followed in quick succession (and probably to get them out the way) by the bells and jaguar but what was impressive was the way he layered lil' louis 's french kiss over the track b4 the bells very tasty. my trainspotting sort of stopped from here i recognised some purpose maker tracks but that's about the limit of my knowledge on current techno as i've mainly been buying house. This definitely got me thinking about buying some techno again so my credit card is definitely going to be looking sorry for itself in the next few weeks. Missed the last hour due to sleep deprivation and a 3 hour car drive to get to adelaide but am guessing no electro was played this (i am guessing here) also meant me missing out on seeing him play with the 909 alone but unfortunately beer is no stimulant and the prospect of getting up early in the morning meant i had to miss out. After being slightly dissapointed the last time i saw him spin in melbourne (NYE 1999/2000) i was more than impressed this time.Mixing was up to his usual standard as was use of 909 during set. andrew just missed a few of the expats to make the night *waves to Tan and Royal* bring on Common Factor @ Cargo
