[313] (spam) radio show tonight
If anybody's interested, I'll be playing a live set on WNUR tonight (Jan 7th) from 11PM to 12:30AM... If you're in Chicago, it's 89.3 FM, otherwise you can listen to it at http://www.wnur.org/live.ram It'll probably start out with an hour of techno and then move into hard jungle and weirder stuff. -- :: atomly :: [ [EMAIL PROTECTED] : www.atomly.com ... that neroli sampler volume one is the only 12" i can find around here...as the main record store that sells the majority of stuff distributed by goya didn't pick up the releases. i'm going to have to head over to groove and pick up some of the other ones i suppose. but hats off to enrico and co. for the tasteful releases. -Original Message- From: marsel [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, January 07, 2002 1:58 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [313] domu+archive+neroli yes yes domu is the man!! i've read far too less about his gorgeous album and his tune on neroli is one of my faves of last year cheers - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] Detroit club & drug culture in UK press
As soon as I read the "my adventures of buying E" yarn, I stopped reading. Z. Really, really tired. I am so sick of people who are into the drugs and not the music, despite what they say, and it's worse when they write books. They obviously think getting off their faces is very fascinating, it's so not. All she is doing is supporting all the vacuous stereotypes of people into electronic music and giving the authorities ample legal reasons to shut it all down. Really intelligent that. -- >From: "Tom Robbins/Tom Magic Feet" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "313 mailing list" <313@hyperreal.org> >Subject: [313] Detroit club & drug culture in UK press >Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2002 8:35 PM > >http://www.guardian.co.uk/drugs/Story/0,2763,628867,00.html > > >- >To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] Tresor
I went to the above about 3 wks ago for the 1st time. Lived up to it's rep: Loud, sinister, good mix of people ... Also (so called 'housier') Globus (upstairs) is a great place to leave anyone with less tolerance for the darker Tresor proper. It's still attracting some interesting acts - saw Tanaka there myself, the week after my departure was to feature Surgeon & De Void. Alas one big proviso: It's on Potzdamer Platz former East Germany administered - therefore awaits redevelopment. If you think Detroit's got some rough edges ... Adjacent to Tresor (literally) is a large (easily 10m sq) stagnant pool. It seems, looks, smells like sewage. This can't be healthy. Bacteria is transported in many ways we know and many we don't. I'd say enquire before you visit. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] Detroit club & drug culture in UK press
I think it's always interesting to see an outsider's view of familiar places and cities. I thought the way they described the club advertisements and the threat of "one dj in one room for six hours" was pretty funny. I wonder what night they were at motor and what time they were there. d --- Toby Frith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > "Motor Lounge resembled nothing so much as a > Christian youth-club disco." > > > ?? > > > > - Original Message - > From: Tom Robbins/Tom Magic Feet > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: 313 mailing list <313@hyperreal.org> > Sent: Monday, January 07, 2002 9:35 AM > Subject: [313] Detroit club & drug culture in UK > press > > > > > http://www.guardian.co.uk/drugs/Story/0,2763,628867,00.html > > > > > > > - > > To unsubscribe, e-mail: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > For additional commands, e-mail: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > - > To unsubscribe, e-mail: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For additional commands, e-mail: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > __ Do You Yahoo!? I wonder how much of that story actually came from first-hand experience? My experiences in Detroit have been 100% dissimilair... On a related note, did anyone else catch that Urb rated Motor the best club in the nation, unseating Buzz in DC from its two-year reign? I was really surprised to see this - and happy. I don't think I saw this mentioned here before so I thought I'd forward this from a few weeks back. > FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: > > > > Monday 12.17.01 > > > MOTOR-DETROIT NAMED "BEST CLUB IN AMERICA" by URB > MAGAZINE > > > Motor-Detroit nightclub has been named the "Best > Club in America" by the country's biggest electronic > music magazine, Urb. Re: [313] Detroit club & drug culture in UK press
I'm actually hoping to see the entire book, since it covers the two places I know the best as a technotourist -- SF and Detroit. The description of the Motor was pretty funny. I guess the Brits haven't ever heard of circle dancing! As for shopping for Es at Haight and Masonic, well, that only shows they weren't smart enough to ask twice. That area (the "upper Haight") has been putrified for years. I hardly ever go there now that Ameba (the old clothing/record store, not the giant Amoeba record store in the converted Haight St. Bowl) is gone. Anyway, the good small record shops are in the lower Haight -- Tweekin, Zebra, Open Mind -- and the cool bars like the Top, Niki's and Mad Dog in the Fog, where the expatriates from the UK and Ireland watch soccer (er, "football") via satellite on the telly. It ought to go without saying, of course, that anyone who buys drugs on the street -- esPECially in the Upper Haight -- is asking for disappointment, or worse. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
