[313] Larry Heard
The only thing I know by Larry Heard is the CD Dance 2000 Part 2. It's interesting work. Are the other CD's like that? I've heard Ice Castles described as stark'. What's it like?Major retailers don't seem to carry his work. thanks mediadrome - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sherman, it's time for the Way-Back machine... Your best bet might be to find his Les Parrains de la House compilation on a French label. May still be in print. Larry's output as Mr. Fingers and Fingers Inc. was instrumental in the heady days of Chicago acid house, in the late 80s. [313] German House
I am doing a sidebar on German house - warm stuff like Ian Pooley with a Chicago/Detroit feel - for, er, a cover story on Ian Pooley. Any cool names I should research? I have had no sleep with deadlines and need all the pointers I can get! Incidentally, Pooley is starting sessions for his next album - he is actually working with some local jazz musicians in Sydney, and plans to work with some Brazilian musicians too. Next album could have a nice Brazilian flavour to it - carrying on from Since Then. He also wants to do more Quiet Daze stuff on Transmat, so let's hope that happens. The re-recorded version of his single Les Balmes with Candian singer Esthero (who has recorded with everyone from A:xus/Abacus to the Black Eyed Peas and Lisa Left Eye Lopes) is nice, if you can get it. There is some interesting stuff in the article with 313 stuff, so I will endeavour to post it on an Australian dance site (www.inthemix.com.au) when it comes out in a regular mag later this week. Cheers Cyclone

[313] mitch walcott
anyone got any further info on this one? (tracklisting?) WALCOTT, MITCH: Europa CD (AXIS/TOMORROW). . During the month of November and December, I wanted to take the tracks that I liked best from DEMF and put them all together on a CD. The dilemma was naming the project about a planet or moon and have it all make sense. Europa was the perfect candidate. After doing a lot of research, I found that someday we might actually send a spacecraft that will penetrate the ice to hopefully discover a subsurface ocean. The possibility that there may be life on Europa fit very well with my last track on the disc, which was to move the listener from a very dismal place, to a place of beauty. I did not want to specifically name the spacecraft going to Europa. There are many different teams out there right now, each with their own project name and idea of functionality. So, I decided to be somewhat vague so that the listener could use his/her imagination. My goal is for people to listen to this project and come away with interesting imagery in their minds. -- Mitch Walcott thanks jason - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Memo from Alex Bond of PricewaterhouseCoopers Start of message text Can anyone tell me anything about a DEMF happening this year? I've not heard anything and haven't been keeping my eyes open. Hopefully I'll be getting over there if there is one going on, there's a cheap flight offer on at the moment, so I could do with finding out. Thanks. Re: [313] loft classics
tracks on it are: delirium, standing in the rain, how much are they. The strange thing is that there is no info of any producers or artists. So does anyone know who produced these songs? Hello All the Loft Classics are superb records, I think we are up to release 14 now. To buy some of the original tracks (if you could find them) would cost you a small fortune, so these compilations are little gems. They are all worth buying. Standing in the rain was by Don Ray / Cerrone, can't remember about Delirium, but I will find out for you. Cheers Mark __ Do You Yahoo!? [313] Farben Byte of Losing Control
Heard a cool Farben track last night that bytes the Hawtin remix of Losing Control. IMHO it's as good as the original (remix that is). ;) Thought this might be a viable option for those hunting down a copy. Re: [313] mitch walcott
I was one of maybe 10-15 people listening to him at the Underground stage bright and early one of those rainy mornings at DEMF. It's pure ambience (ie, no percussion or discernable tempo at all). I might even call it space music, if that means anything to you. I enjoy this kind of stuff, but I don't find a lot of commonality in it with other Detroit material. This is even less pronounced than Mills' ambient material, so I'd definitely recommend giving a listen before purchasing if possible. I think this would be great music to work/sleep to. I doubt that would be taken as an insult. When he performed, it was all coming from a laptop, controlled through an airbass controller that shapes the sound based on the proximity of your hand to the surface of the airbass. In that sense, this was all created live, as the shaping more-or-less *is* the song. I'm assuming he recorded the DEMF performance and is releasing that, rather than re-recording it anew. I imagine each time he performs this material it would take a different shape. RE: [313] Baxter mix?
it's ... ok. i'm actually a pretty big blake baxter fan, and this disc is not high on my rotation. certainly not up to the par of the later globus mixes (bell, herbert). --brian -Original Message- From: Wes [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2002 10:46 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: [313] Baxter mix? Any opinions on the Blake Baxter Globus mix that came out on Tresor a number of years ago with tracks by Basic Bastard etc. on it? I'm not a huge fan, but have a definite soft spot for Visions of You that wicked old track on the Made in Detroit comp. Has this mix stood the test of time?
