RE: [313] Exos - my home is sonic
SND = a duo, afaik. Tender Love is a tad more beat-oriented & less cerebrally chilled than previous releases. Less obvious Detroit influences than the Exos album (which is stunningly good), but they're there if you listen. Reminds me of Derrick May locked in an elevator with Autechre in places. [313] Reese Project "Direct Me"
Wibo: you can double it up nicely with that Edition 2: "STation of the groove" is on this one as well, yeah, wicked track that one! it's a Vice remix on the 12" you mention. as is a vocal (Morales???) mix of "the groove that won't stop??" (don't know this for sure so don't shoot me!) i don't have the record to hand, but i think it's a Morales (Defmix, with keys by Eric Kupper?) mix of "Just Another Chance". On this record is a mix of "Direct me" that works pretty good with that Marty Hardy mix on edition 1 the a-side of the edition 2 12" is the Joey Negro mix of "Direct Me". quite an "up" remix, if you know what i mean. always reminds me of that Take That track Dave Lee produced, "Relight My Fire"... but maybe that's just me. rob _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Japanese indeed. They also released a version of The Knights Who Say Dot with some different tracks and a different title which I can't recall. The Deep Space thing might be Kevin's X-Mix (which, imo, is the gem of the series. Ishii's is nice, too). Often these releases have different and extra tracks. [313] Inspirations/ Los Hermannos test pressing
For anyone who would like a sneak preview, Rub-A-Dub (Glasgow, UK) have just got in 3 test pressings of the new UR tracks, ask them nicely and they might just let you hear them, heres a review from my mate: Went to Rub-a-Dub today (to pick up Every Dog 3) and Barry had just taken delivery of 3 Submerge Test Pressings - the Mad Mike one (Inspirations) is amazing.Total quality. The Rolando one (Los Hermannos) I'm not too sure about - sounds great to begin with but the more I listened to it the more I think he's ripped off Mike Banks (very like World to World/Journey of the Dragons/Nation to Nation) and the other side sounds like it has bits of "Jaguar" through it.I'll still buy it when it comes out though.. And just for the record, Rub A Dub are selling Every Dog 3 for £22, so looks like Inner City are the cheapest in the UK! Re: [313] Maurice Fulton again
Um, well, sure I know there was drama - you hear that on the records as Maurice is a confessional artiste - but in a very public forum such as this I usually respect people's private lives - unless they're Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in which case they are getting ridiculous amounts of money to compensate for speculation. I wouldn't want my affairs detailed on 313, you know what I'm sayin'? :) They were both cool people. I wish them the very best, it was not easy for either of them. The main reason Maurice left was immigration - work visa - issues. -- >From: "Odeluga, Ken" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: Cyclone Wehner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "[EMAIL PROTECTED] Org" <313@hyperreal.org> >Subject: RE: [313] Maurice Fulton again >Date: Tue, 12 Mar 2002 7:55 PM > > What was all that about with the Australian immigration then? Re: [313] Detroit techno thesis
Ack, I think I missed the boat on this before it was removed. Sounds like it was a very well put together piece of work. In a distantly related matter, after procrastinating far too much, I finally picked up a copy of Dan Sicko's book, "Techno Rebels" at my local Barnes and Noble store last week. Thanks to my work schedule (and the advent of the Internet) I rarely have time to actually sit down and read through an actual book, but it only took a couple of pages of browsing to decide to purchase this and MAKE time to read. I hope to have it completed before Memorial Day weekend and perhaps find myself a bit more educated on matters relating to Techno, electronic music, and its fascinating history. ;) Matt E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Site: http://www.magicmattkelly.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [313] UR on Kiss FM
> > From: "Odeluga, Ken" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Does > > anyone's local station have anything vaguely techy on, regularly? Yep. Perth community radio station RTRFM broadcasts a lot of underground dance music. They stream it as well, point your browser to http://www.rtrfm.com.au and check it out. The shows (+8 GMT): * Auditory Spiral: Friday nights, 11pm to 1am Saturday. Deep techno, electro, heavily detroit influenced. The host (Seamus) has been a listmember at more than one point. * Looney Choons: Saturday Morning, 1am to 6am. Techno, electro. I play on this show now and then as one of the regular guests. These are the prime techno shows. There are lots of other shows: * Full Frequency: Every weekday (mon to fri) from 3pm to 5pm. Monday is house music, Tuesday is hiphop, Wednesday is different flavoured House/NuJazz, Thursday is house and hiphop, and friday is miscellaneous. * Saturday Night Underground: Sat. Night from 9pm to 12pm. Going for about 8 years now, run by Ben Stinga. Highly regarded, very experimental nowadays. If you like reggae/dancehall/etc, tune in three hours before that for Jamdown Version, a show which is also highly regarded around the world. The guy who presents the reggae show (General Justice) has been in the biz for a very long time. * Ambient Zone: Sunday night from 11pm to 1am. All sorts of mellow music. So you can see that there's a lot of good radio support here. I think radio is really important for helping good music be heard, and getting people interested in new music. RTRFM services many different styles of music and does a great job at it. -Dave --- David Gillies <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Yeah. Mixed Up In the Hague 2 was supposed to be out in February. I e-mailed Ferenc to get a press copy. He said no problem, but I think its been delayed... again. Doh!!! I'm sure many of you already know this, but www.viewlexx.com has over a dozen full-length MP3 DJ mixes for download. My personal favorite is #10 (CAN YOU FEEL THE BASS!!!) Those kids! The crew is tight and funky, some effects and mixers, some gear but anyone who saw them live years ago, they used to have trunks and trunks of gear to travel with... Anyway the music was no less thick, interesting and some deeper stuff, trademark dark electronic funk style. Some improvisation from Danny Wang on the live Theramin (set up on the other side of the stage) on a couple tracks that was impromptu and interesting. It's clear unlike most people who goof around with Theramins, Danny actually knows what he's doing and can do just about whatever melodies and notes he wants, which was certainly impressive to me anyway. Danny leaves the stage and Ectomorph hits a few more cuts solo, trademark rife-shot tight snares and wobbly deep 808 kicks. They end with remake/remix/cover/tribute of Shari Vari with robotic vocals out of the glowing red megaphone vocoder and overall a nice tight funky set. Cheers all round. > >Danny Wang took to the decks, said a few words about Ghostly, fiddled with a uncooperative mixer for a pregnant pause and finally and dropped for an opener "I Believe In Music" (who was this, The Carpenters? Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell sisters!? ha ha). This gets my vote for most creative way to start a DJ set, though not necessarily most effective? Ha! He was mixing crazy stuff including Depeche mode's loving refrain 'this ain't no disco' (oh how true for the Empty Bottle) and having a good time, if a little rough here and there. Dropped Metro Area 3 and an assortment of what sounded like plenty of quality old electronic disco gems. A little rough on technique overall, but as someone who tries to beatmatch old disco and italo records myself (before tight sequencing and studio quantizing became the norm on late disco productions) it's definitely challenging to pull off seamlessly every time. I applaud the effort to play older cuts with newer!! Be on the lookout for his epic remix of Block 16's big cut "Elektrocution", I believe coming out on Nuphonic. > >Turnout could have been better for this caliber of talent at Empty Bottle, which is historically a bar for live indie and irony rockers, recently starting to book more "electro" (god forbid they call it techno or house) and a crowd somewhat notorious for bowling shoes and no capacity (or skill?) to actually DANCE... but it was a Thursday and there was in fact a decent gathering of legit groovers getting down near the stage. Overall a nice night of electronics and bourbon worthy of a Friday work hangover, hats off to the artists and thanks to Ghostly for a Chicago presence. > >Cheers, >Matt MacQueen > > > > > > - >To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > - jenn without the -ifer -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] / [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- diyska.org / detroitska.com aim -- dubstylist - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
