[313] Smyglyssna :: We Can Fix It (Vertical Form)
thought some 313 folks might like the following info.. Artist: Smyglyssna Title: We Can Fix It Tracklisting: 1. Might It Be¹s And If It Were¹s 2. Work Shall Be Abolished 3. Triangular Ears 4. The Duck People 5. We Can Fake It 6. Fractical Practal 7. Foaming Prairie 8. Elastic Egos 9. Tea With Angela W/P by: Henrik Johansson Catalogue No(s): VFORM015CD / VFORM015LP After the huge warming reception received over Smyglyssna¹s debut Vertical Form release U Don¹t Jump Like I Jump¹ and the release of his Departures¹ EP, Vertical Form are pleased to announce the release of We Can Fix It¹ Henrik Johansson¹s debut album proper. After months of production, tweaking and final adjustments the album finally see¹s the light of day, clocking in at 46 minutes in length, with 9 tracks in total, each cut individually incorporating Smyglyssna¹s signature sound whilst offering a new funkier and more diverse edge to his production approach. Through careful combination of sophisticated software use, along with more traditional analog production techniques, Smyglyssna creates a sound that looks to the past for reference whilst simultaneously defining a take on the future. Working with a variety of hip hop sensibilities along with a variety of differing electro and techno sound aesthetics, We Can Fix It¹ works on a variety of levels providing listeners with a body of work documentative of both a generation of music along with his own vast array of musical influences. Cut¹s such as Mights It Be¹s And If It Were¹s¹ look to early ninetees Detroit scraping through remnants of Carl Craig¹s 69 project and Stacey Pullen¹s Kosmik Messenger outputs whilst reinventing their take on the format of electronic funk by breathing new forms of synthesis into the construction of these types of groove. Triangular Ears¹ adopts a similarly fresh take on the format of experimental and avant hip hop by providing a backdrop of crisp, distorted drum beats alongside a more alternative selection of playful melodies and tight programming creating a groove at home in a variety of environments. Foaming Prairie¹ provides a beautifully crafted momentary breath of heart felt ambience to calm and console the listener whilst also providing a small insight into an alternative side of the smyglyssna sound. In all, an album of constant diversity, rhythmic essentials and heartfelt emotion packed with an obsession of sound and invention. -- || digital::nimbus | :: experimental electronic radio :: || || friday night mid-3am (pst) | www.digitalnimbus.com || || kuci 88.9 fm | p.o. box 443 | orange | california, 92856 || - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] Satellite Sale and Some New Stuff I'm Diggin'
Hi all, Been experiencing email trouble for a while, so excuse the long, scattered post. Thought I'd pass along the good word about Satellite's huge record sale. Lately, I been a Groovetech man, but I made a killing @ satellite last week - 29 records for $185, mostly imports. Lots of great stuff 4 cheap that I didn't think I'd readily find, including: As One - 21st Century Soul - $13.99 Charles Webster - Ready 12 - $5.99 Deep Forces - One Only EP - $4.99 Jacek Sienkewicz - Real Link - $5.99 Killa Bite 1 - $3.99 Ladyvipb - $5.99 Surgeon - Midnight Club - $3.99 Titonton Fabrice Lig - Sensual - $3.99 These are just the oft-mentioned-on-[313] titles I found, but I really did well in the house section and catching myself up on the West London thing. Titles on BitaSweet, Laws of Motion, Neroli, OMOA, Visions, Ubiquity, People and others were all on sale. Never saw this mentioned here, but the Wyndell Long Love Is record on Fiji is a great return to his early sound from his first Peacefrog EP. Dense, textured and thumpin, but with a great house vibe. For my $, he's not as consistent with techno, even though when he's on, he's on. Not on sale, but I picked up the new Super Collider album. So far I'm only sold on a few of the tracks, but I suspect it will grow on me. A trully bizarre effort, somewhere in between soul, industrial and IDM. Even weirder than the first, but not as distant and crazy and Jamie Lidell's last full length. Other than that, and probably not that new, I'm really loving the Pepe Bradock remix of Iz Diz's 'Mouth' on Classic and Dan Curtin Morgan Geist's 'Shredded Melody'. I played catch-up on Russ Gabriel too, picking up his remix of Purveyors of Fine Funk and his 12 on Nepenta and his Wilkomen Ep, all are really pressing my buttons. The latest Alton Miller on Moods 'n Grooves is really lush. The latest Thomas Fehlmann on Kompakt is nice and dubby too. For the record, I have no affiliation with the store and they got a couple of items wrong, but at these prices I didn't care. They've also been prompt and courteous with the return. There's 4 pages of techno and 33 pages of house in the sale as of last week, to give you an idea of the stock you're looking at. You can find a lot of techno in the 'minimal house' and 'hard house' sections too. Hope everyone's Summer is less crazy than mine so far. New records are good! This year the German festival will centre its attention on the most important creative focal points of music production of Spain and Latin America, and will present more than 135 performances on more than 60 stages situated in very attractive locations (churches, auditoriums, castles, country houses) spread around the local area. SONARSOUND´s music showcase in the Kampnagel theatre will be streamed into three areas: experimentation and the avant garde with live acts by Felix Kubin, Golan Levin, Super_Collider and Cristian Vogel, dance trends with The Nairobi Trio, Tito, Luomo and Sideral at the head; and the unclassifiable with Balago, AGF and 8 Doogymoto as its main banners.
