big snip That story about Kenny Larkin is salutory to me. Alas I feel it's only reflective of what things are really like in'the world' outside, this particular cocoon of futuristic music. Sometimes it's wise to remind yourself that as well as being entertainers, these artists are often men (usually, and the gender is important) with a message. And it pays to go that extra mile to try to realize what it is. Peace, k

Re: (313) MTV Last Night
The mpeg video looks really hashed up -- was the over-air signal that Nato 0.55 effed up? I love Aero Dynamik though. There are great tracks on Tour De France Soundtracks -- I understand people being disappointed with it, and why they think it's derivative, but if you take the album on its own terms, it's a brilliant continuous listening experience. I also like the pun on the cover -- The Eiffel Tour labeled 'tour de france' -- 'tour' being both tower and tour in French. What's it like? Do they actually have a chillout room of any description? The Egg is a pretty cool venue, but on most nights I hear its been a bit Hoxtonized - it was at the Haywire I attended anyway. The upstairs is cool. It's kind of like a chalet attic, with angled ceilings, and lots of seating. The main floor is kind of squareish, with really busy lights. That was a bit over-the-top for me, but nothing that couldn't be tamed in different hands. The best bit (meeting your chillout criteria) is the astroturfed patio area (which may be a bit cold if this weather continues into the crapness it seems to be heading into today) - but it's definitely a place you could head to have a break, a smoke - whatever. The review above probably highlights too many negatives without doing justice to the positives, but that night I went I was on the wagon and was really not in the mood for 140-150 bpm Weatherall electro and a lengthy series of night buses - should have stayed home. That said, Rick Hopkins played a wicked set to start the night. Also, I would much rather head to Lost @ The Egg than Heaven, or Hell (Canary Warf ;), especially at 2:30. (313) Theo and Rolando track-ids
Hello list! I've been away for a couple of months but now I've got two track-id questions: On Rolandos For Those Who Know II the track kicking in at 32.57 mins. Fat b-line and nice harmonies. And On Theo Parrish's Contemporhythms 1 the track appearing at around 30 mins. I think it's rather similar to Pepe Bradock's Burning -rising string-harmonies. Thanks! /Hansi
