(313) Don't forget to Perlon!
What's up? I'll tell ya whats up! The Narcotic Syntax on Perlon! It's nothing short of amazing! Please take my word for it and pick it up on sight. Its a really unique combination music and poetry and story. Get this, all the poetry in the music has been printed on the inside paper sleeve to read along as you listen. Here is a little snippet of narcotic poetry which explains their work- its on the sleeve too: " All notes of this daring construction are formed out of the remnants of a music culture from the last white spot on the jungle map. Every single sound has been placed into the composition by laborious, time-consuming manual operation. The arrangement is not from this world. The groove orbits around your own passion. The rhythm wins the fight of love for detail. " If you don't already want to run out and listen, don't let rely on on-line samples or a quick stop at the record store to make your decision for you. Take it home and read the poetic stories as you listen. My pick of the friggin' year so far, and what an amazing 5 months it has already been! Its a really good time to like electronic music, folks. -jason

(313) Techno Boulevard
Be sure to check out the Techno Boulevard stage as well. I was just talking with Lucas Rodenbush. He will be doing a live PA on Sat @ 9:30. He has lot of new material. I got to hear some of it, and it promises to be an amazing performance. Other artists slated for Techno Boulevard include John Arnold and Mike Clark. Here's a quote from the Movement site: "In an effort to promote and nurture emerging talent, the Movement Festival has designated an area of Hart Plaza specifically for the use of independent music vendors. Dubbed Techno Boulevard , the walkway parallel to Jefferson Ave will become the site where local, national and international labels and musicians will have the opportunity to interface with one another and their listening audience. In addition, a special DJ performance area will be included in the Boulevard as a showcase of independent talent."

Re: (313) We have a schedule
Hold on, Joe Clausell plays twice for a total of over 5 hours, closing two different stages??? Must be a mistake. I imagine there'll be some tweeking though. Saturday night from about 6:00 onwards is totally gutting. So much of the stuff I most want to see is on then. :( Oh well... it's bound to happen at some point, right? But Jebus, having to chose between TP and Traxx is just a horrible choice to have to make... Easilly two of my five favorite DJs. Long sets this year though! That will be really cool. Really nice thread on the Deep space NYC board with this entry from Daniel Wang about the meaning of international travel in dance music.. http://www.deepspacenyc.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1009 I'd really love to actually talk to this guy sometime. here's the 313 relevant part: There are some places where we might not feel comfortable playing --like Tel Aviv, or Moscow. But you know? It's also a chance for us, as musicians, to widen our own views. Many DJs (especially a certain few from Detroit, dare I say) see it merely as "bringing our sound to the locals" and earning a handsome fee along the way. (Is this not also a sort of Ugly American syndrome, even if one is a black American DJ, and not a white American tourist?) Earn your money -- but there's something else to bring back home besides the shampoo from the five-star hotel specified on your contract. Simply, you are there to make common ground with people of another culture, so rather than preach behind a curtain, get out there and SHARE.

I can only thank the laws of physics for that. What's with mother nature and all her stupid laws anyway. My opinion is that I really like single-piece LPs, and they are a rare thing these days. Re: (313) burial mix reply
First of all- for all those interested in the Burial label and are considering investing in the Artist's / Version LPs - I headed to the record store the other day where I listened to a short sample of the first two tracks on the artist's LP. I could tell that the sound was very clear, but it lacked the overall power of monster deep compressed bass being pumped through the speakers. Within 20 seconds I was totally convinced that the LP just gave up too much of what I loved in the burial sound. If you just want the songs (I like most them! ) on vinyl for a cheap rate and/or you aren't up for searching out the individual 10"s, get the LPs. But it just kills me to pay a shade under $40 for two 12" vinyl's of second generation Burial material with the crust already cut off. I'd rather keep looking for those 10" records with the magical pressings, rather than a crowded LP with a weaker press. Going into the record store with this on my mind, I wasn't expecting the LP pressing to be exactly the same as the 10", but how close would it get? This isn't a small time, nickel and dime record label (bless them !), or some crazy rouge bootleg squadron. Moritz and his mysterious entourage have proven themselves as a combination of successful business people, gifted artists, and technological innovators. God, I'm full of uselessness today... straight outta my "bag of terror" An Evening With Elliot Eastwick Talk & Film screening Wednesday 9 June, 6.30pm £5/ £3.50 concessions Urbis, Manchester Morrissey, Marr and Motown; Iggy Pop's early performances in Manchester and their influence on Ian Curtis; Mike Pickering exploding the myth that London led the way in House music with deft ease and humour. Elliot Eastwick's film is 45 minutes of celluloid (well, the digital equivalent of?) that no music fan should miss. Urbis is giving you a unique opportunity to view "The Sounds of Two Cities" in the company of director and internationally acclaimed DJ Elliot Eastwick, with a chance to thrash out the many issues the film throws up. What's the connection between the Smiths and Motown? In "The Sounds of Two Cities" Johnny Marr tells us that the drums in "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" are stolen directly from a track by the Elgins. Marr also confirms the legend of the first time he met Morrissey is, in fact, completely true. Drawing on the lines of comparison between the two cities of Manchester and Detroit, Eastwick will examine the impact of a transatlantic re-absorption of music styles which has taken place between the two cities. Elliot Eastwick was the last DJ to play a record at the Hacienda. This is your chance to discuss the impact of Detroit music on Manchester and vice versa with one of the major players in today's scene. Places are very limited and booking is essential. Call our Box Office on 0161 907 9099 to reserve your place. Click here to read the BBC Arts article about Elliot Eastwick's "The Sounds of Two Cities". RE: (313) Another 69 repress hits the streets...
'Don't sleep' is one suggestion. These are most of the other tracks from the 'Sound of Music' cd, following the re-release of the last 69 track. Excepting of course 'Desire' ... I want that on 10g single-side pressing at 45 rpm! ;-) k >-Original Message- >From: Tom Churchill [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2004 9:20 PM >To: 313 >Subject: (313) Another 69 repress hits the streets... > > > From Juno's stop press list - note its inclusion in the Hard House >category! > >> -- >> Hard house >> -- >> >> Singles >> CRAIG, Carl (69): Sound On Sound (Planet E US) >> 12": "Rushed" / "Sub Seducer" / "Sound On Sound" / "Poi Et Pas" / >> "Filter King" / "No Highs" / "Finale" (PE 69170) [8.99] > > >

Re: (313) Strings [was: "Lost" or unreleased]
Is that version of strings not the one on buzz records 3 track ep oh it was released on buzz too? i stand corrected. I believe there's also the same mix of this titled "Strings of the Strings of Life" on the Innovator CD that Transmat licenced to Sony Japan put out... I agree that's an astounding mix of the track, a more ambient ...so to speak. Alright see some of you in Detroit at the festival ! peace -- Matt MacQueen http://SonicSunset.com
(313) Inner City green vinyl
So yesterday I was in the 2nd hand store and picked up a copy of 'Paradise' by Inner City, on Virgin/10 records. The vinyl is green! I can't find a listing on Discogs for this - is it rare? Does anyone else have a copy?
