It's raining here too. Alot. I got soaked on my way to work. Grr.

Although I dont think we have much to moan about.

Jari T tells me it's minus 11 and pitch black in his town!

On another note, Piccadilly has 2 new dj bone 10's I think (unless they're
the old ones).

and T-Funkshun got a nice preview in the Guardian last weekend:

Entry £5

For more details, or for paying guest list spaces, email me
offlist! Here's the blurb:

Following on from the huge success of our recent opening night featuring
Pittsburgh's Shawn Rudiman, Flashpoint is very pleased to announce the next
event, showcasing Glasgow's superb deep techno label, Iridite.

Conceived in the summer of 1999 by Jason Brunton and Rei Loci, Iridite has
swiftly become one of the most critically acclaimed of a new wave of labels
which have brought the focus in techno back to futurism, soul, depth and funk -
away from the generic loopiness of the late 90s. Created as a platform for
local talent both established and new, the label has followed a policy not of
genre but of quality, releasing compilation EPs with tracks ranging from dub
and experimental through electro to Detroit techno. These cuts instantly struck
a chord with the techno world, being played and supported by the likes of
Fabrice Lig, Laurent Garnier, DJ3000, Buzz Goree, Claude Young, Dan Curtin,
Steffan Robbers, Titonton Duvante, Shawn Rudiman, Dan Bell, Anthony Shakir,
Orlando Voorn, Arne Weinberg and many more!
Having released four EPs since inception, as well as one for fellow deep techno
specialists Down Low, they are now preparing for their imminent fifth release,
which also sees them as one of the first UK labels to be accepted under the
wing of the legendary Detroit techno distributors, Submerge.

Presenting the labels talent will be founder member Jason Brunton, who has also
appeared alongside Hutton Drive for Soma and 20:20 Vision and remixed on Laws
of Motion and Fenetik - but is most renowned for his work on Iridite, including
the stunning 'Track Title 2' on Iridite 002, which received huge acclaim from
DJs and music lovers worldwide, and was licensed to a Claude Young compilation
amongst others.

By his side will be Rei Loci (who also produces with Jason as Methodology),
performing his debut London live set. Famed for his quirky yet exceptional
funky releases both on Iridite and fellow Glasgow imprints Headspace and
Seventh Sign, we have been warned to expect something very special from him as
he returns from over a years hiatus to unleash a brand new live workout upon
us!

Jason and Rei will also be joined by Elijah aka Laurence Hughes, one of
Glasgow's finest DJs and a resident at Traxx alongside Tom Churchill
(Headspace) and Jamie Thomson (Nurture).
(For full artist profiles and more info, please visit www.iridite.com)

Once again these three will be backed up by the fine Flashpoint residents,
Brendan Nelson & Guy Thackeray (Non Stop DJs), and Matt Chester (11th Hour
Recordings).

When I had a look on Piccadilly I'd decided it was likely the '03 one,
mislabeled, probably b/c it's the
one that was sold at '04. This is the bit from the movement site:

http://www.movementfestival.com/gear_dvd.html

"Performances Include
Amp Fiddler, Buzz Goree, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson & Kenny Larkin, Stacey
Pullen

Interviews
Derrick May, Derrick Ortencio, Kenny Larkin, Paul Randolph & Amp Fiddler, D
Wynn, Matt Dear, Viktor
Duplaix, Delano Smith, Rick White, and more.

Extras
Interviews with legendary Detroit Artists, Marcus Belgrave, Allen Barnes, and
Francisco Mora.
Behind-the-scenes Movement panel discussion"

...which would appear to match up with this from Piccadilly:

"Directed by Marco Aluia, this documentry follows the organization of the
Detroit Electronic Music
Festival. Featuring live perfomances from Amp Fiddler, Juan Atkins, Kevin
Saunderson and Kenny Larkin,
interviews with Derrick May, Paul Randolph, Amp Fiddler, Viktor Duplaix and
Rick Whilite, plus a wealth of
extras from behind the scenes at the Movement festival."

THE GANG OF FOUR are to reform for a UK tour.

The legendary British post-punk agitators have enjoyed a critical
revival
in recent years with new bands like Futureheads, Bloc Party and Franz
Ferdinand citing them as a massive influence.

Now, the original line-up of Jon King, Andy Gill, Dave Allen and Hugo
Burnham have succumbed to public demand and will reunite for the first
time
since 1981 for a string of British dates in January 2005.

The dates are:

(313) ~scape with Deadbeat, Bus, Crackhaus in NYC Friday

2004-11-17 Thread Bryan Kasenic
Friday November 19

***THE BUNKER***

DOWNSTAIRS: ~scape 5 Year Anniversary Tour

Deadbeat (~scape | Montreal) - live pa
Bus (~scape | Berlin) - live pa
Crackhaus (Musique Risquée, Mutek | Montreal) - live pa
DJ Meteo (Bus, ~scape | Berlin)
Secret Frequency Crew (Schematic | NYC)

We are proud to present the NYC stop of the ~scape 5 year
anniversary tour. ~scape is Stefan Betke's (aka Pole)
record label. There is a $5 cover tonight and we suggest
showing up early as capacity is limited and we are
expecting a large crowd.

Both Deadbeat full lengths on ~scape have been spun many
times in the early evening at the Bunker, and they usually
bring the trainspotters running up to find out what the
hell it is. Scott Monteith (aka Deadbeat) makes impossibly
deep digital dub that somehow avoids all of the dub cliches
and puts a fresh spin on the decades-old genre. As amazing
as the albums are, you really have to see the live set to
fully appreciate the sound.

Also appearing will be Crackhaus, which is Scott's other
project with fellow Canadian Stephen Beaupre. Their sound
will definitely appeal to fans of micro-house superstars
like Akufen and the Perlon crew, but they put their own
humorous spin on the genre.

Bus is Daniel Meteo and Tom Theil. They have released and
album and 2 EP's on ~scape, along with some other material
for Meteo's own Meteosound label. They are known for
bringing a hip-hop sound to dub, or maybe it's the other
way around.

Daniel Meteo of Bus is also a very fine DJ, and he will be
filling in the gaps along with Eggfooyoung of the Secret
Frequency Crew throughout the evening.

Re: (313) Movement DVD

2004-11-17 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If there really is a 313 party in Detroit, I really hope there is a way I can
participate.

I have some laptop madness of my own to share. ;)

Live in Chicago now, but lived in Kalamazoo and Detroit (well Ferndale) so I
have at least a little 313 connection.

I'm going to get one - Can't wait for 2005, we are so there - so who's going
to sort the 313 party then, should we bring our laptops and show you some of
our Sheffield sh[/i]t :)
