So how come the last log entry by Jeri was made in 2003? I want to know what dribs had to say about hal varian and his devilish core. Were they ever able to reverse it? What did alex himself have to say after he settled down a bit? Or did jeri just get a job doing calculations for kraftwerk? Kamal K. Stoddard Turner Broadcasting Systems

They've been signed with Astralwerks in the U.S. for a while - Astralwerks is owned by EMI which has been releasing Kraftwerk records in the U.S. from the very beginning, afaik. EMI most likely moved them to Astralwerks becuase the label is closer to the electronic music community here. On that occasion I attended the gig you mention above (as it was a Glasshouse Transmissions night and not part of Triptych but a month earlier, when I was up there). Yes it was cracking. However I though they were on at The Henry Wood Hall this time?

This festival sounds excellent (& I've never even heard of it before) - if I didn't already have a party in Brighton on Saturday & Dan Bell on Sunday night i'd be up for my first visit to Scotland. Looks like it's gonna have to be next year. & now for a rare music tip from me ... Not very 313 but so good it's worth a mention : Beck 'Guero' - Excellent album. I have to stop myself from over-playing it! Stand out tracks are 'Que Onda Guero', 'Girl', 'Black Tambourine', 'Hell Yes' (check the scratching on this one - dope!) & 'Clap Hands' (bonus track.) Nice presentation on the deluxe box set as well. Re: (313) festivals (part 1)
I have talked about the Tryptich events on the list a few years running but there is never anyone from out of town (that im aware of) that has came along to any events - I normally bump into ex listmember Tom Churchill at a couple of the events every year but thats about it. Your right - they do get some good people to come and play and if anyone does fancy it let me know, would be happy to hook up and if possible offer some lodgings. BTW - the venue that R&S are playing in is the same as they played last year - its called The Peoples Palce and its effectively a big glass house in a park with plants etc inside. Very nice venue indeed and its the same people putting it on so I would imagine the same nice system will be there. Go on, you know you want to visit Scotland ;-) Cheers BT --- "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Rhythm & Sound 45 Session w/ Paul St. Hilaire > > > > 30.04. @ Tryptich Festival (Glasgow) > > Hmmm yes, being up in Scotland last week I saw > publicity for Triptych - as I > have each of the past 2 or 3 years when I've gone up > there at Easter and > seen the line up for the festival a month later and > thought "now I really > should come up for that" but not made it. > This year's line up seems like another cracker - how > come this festival > hasn't been mentioned (with the exception of the > above) on this list? > Are our Scottish brothers keeping this one to > themselves? Erm, just to qualify this, I do have some involvement with The Big Chill, but this booking is by no means a certainty - I think we should wait and see. Will advise as soon as I hear anything. Basically last year I kicked myself for not going to the Synch festival in Greece and was determined to go this - probably instead of going to The Big Chill festival here in England which has been tremendous the past 2 years but partly that's because it was blessed with fantastic weather both times and it seems greedy to hold out for a third year in a row on that front. For a while it looked like Synch might not be on but the site now has dates up (1 - 3 July, 2 months later than last year) but still no line up. When someone said on here a while back that UR might be playing that determined it, I've been persuading friends and I think we're going to book plane tickets in the next few days - however with no line up yet announced I guess we're taking a chance. Then the rumour surfaces on here that UR might be doing the Big Chill! What's the latest people on the inside track? Hit me back off list if you have to.

Maybe basic sample based house, but the way that somebody like Moodyman CAn (when the moment takes him) take a sample and re-work it until it hurts pisses all over someone who wants to take a "dance" beat and add a live bass/crap flute solo over it and call it "Live" or "song based". I'd rather take some basic Jack Trax stuff any day. > cheers Jason I couldn't agree more Jason. There's a point being missed by some who equate 'progress' or artistic development (admirable goals of course) call it what you will, with increasing conventional musicality. It's something like the fact that sampling and other methods which were originally based quite a bit on *lack* of conventional musical ability, should now be seen as valid art forms in themselves. They are something quite apart and sometimes more refined (imo) than the aesthetics of a live jazz band, for instance.

(313) festivals (part 1)
> Rhythm & Sound 45 Session w/ Paul St. Hilaire > > 30.04. @ Tryptich Festival (Glasgow) Hmmm yes, being up in Scotland last week I saw publicity for Triptych - as I have each of the past 2 or 3 years when I've gone up there at Easter and seen the line up for the festival a month later and thought "now I really should come up for that" but not made it. This year's line up seems like another cracker - how come this festival hasn't been mentioned (with the exception of the above) on this list? Are our Scottish brothers keeping this one to themselves? BT, Jason et al is this another act of Scottish nationalism? - laughing behind our backs as you present: Juan Atkins Stacey Pullen HERBIE HANCOCK LAURIE ANDERSON ESG Prince Buster CANDI STATON KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN fer goodness sake! and everyone else from Akufen to Bugz In The Attic, LCD Soundsystem etc. the truth must be told!
