Re: (313) when in rome...
I think Claudio spoke at the Red Bull last year. God, I love Rome, I'm so jealous of anyone going there. Plus all the guys and girls are so beautiful. The driving is unbelievable - crossing a road is like being a gladiator, you gottta look into the eye of the driver and look determined, then cross. ;) They have good reflexes, the drivers though. when in rome, on THURSDAY night you should go to GOA for Ultrabeat night: resident dj is Claudio Coccoluto, and you'll catch guest like Steve Bug, Booka Shade, MANDY, Troy Pierce ecc ecc...don't miss it if you love some loop that goes on for 4 hours and hardly changes ;) http://www.houseinmotion.it/ (probably they'll do some party on NYE too) to eat, have fun in Trattoria da Augusto (also called Augustariello in Trastevere. sleeping is not so cheap ps: beware of craazy traffic :) bye, Emiliano - Original Message - From: jurren baars [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Monday, November 07, 2005 6:46 PM Subject: (313) when in rome... ... where to stay? ... what to do? i'm going to visit rome for the first time from december 30 to january 6. anyone know of good (not too expensive) hotels, nice restaurants, recordstores, etc.? i would also love to know of any events NYE worth visiting while i'm there. not necessarily techno, preferably more house/hiphop/soul as i'm going with my girl who prefers to hear different musical styles rather than some loop that goes on for 4 hours and hardly changes (her words). jurren

Well, if you speak about outright theft - Demarkus Lewis sent a CD copy of tracks (which were released on Moods and Grooves in 2001) to DJ Dagwood who then signs them to Subliminal Soul in 2003. If it was me and had my stuff stolen I'd be doing something other than moaning about it (put up the tracks on a website for free download for one, the money made is not worth chasing legally so why not test it all legally?). Anyway we're all bored of this now, aren't we? I'm not ;) Jamie Read had a moan when the Peacefrog LP was released, but his subsequent silence suggests he's got better things to do than keep going on about it. BTW, the track 'Piano' on the Peacefrog LP was previously released on the Elements of Jazz 2 compilation - and the artist credited was Jamie Read.

'Douglas McCarthy has confirmed last Friday the rumours that the band is to reunite for a few selected livedates. The final okay for the reunion tour was given by both Bon Harris and me when we met in Chicago earlier last week, Douglas said. There will only be a few selected dates and before you all start dreaming, the band has not yet started work on new material. Or no, not yet..., as McCarthy puts it. It is expected that the band will take the opportunity to record and film live material. Only one date is sure yet: the Wave Gotik Treffen 2006in May in Leipzig, Germany. The gigs are booked by Neuwerk, a new German booking agency that was started by former employees of Protain and that already has Fixmer/McCarthy under its wings'

RE: (313) For the old-skoolers!
F242 at the Effenaar in Eindhoven, was HARD!! (as in volume), but to be honest they are bit over the hill for me with all of their classic tracks getting some 'moderntechnoreworkupdate' and to it doesn't do justice to their music...it makes it even sound 'outdated'. But there's hope, check this: Front 242 will play 2 nights in Brussels at the Ancienne Belgique on March 3 and 4 2006. The double night will celebrate Front 242's 25 years of existence. Included in these two days event will be 2 different Front 242 concerts with DJ- and band supports, late night shows in de AB-Club and special guests as well as an 'classic set' in the orginal 'warfare' setting . Also available will be an art installation and exhibition on the band's history and artwork. Since both nights will be very different one from the other, a combi-ticket will be available allowing the biggest fans to enjoy both nights. Tickets will be 24 euro per night or 40 euro for a combi ticket. -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: Klaas-Jan Jongsma [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Verzonden: woensdag 9 november 2005 19:17 Aan: Blaauw, Martijn de CC: 313@hyperreal.org Onderwerp: Re: (313) For the old-skoolers! (313) NYC: Andreas Tilliander Friday | John Tejada Saturday
Friday November 11 ***THE BUNKER*** Andreas Tilliander (Mille Plateaux, Audio.nl, Raster Noton | Stockholm) Prolific Swedish producer Andreas Tilliander revolutionised the click genre with his breakthrough albums 'Cliphop' (Raster.Noton) and 'Ljud' (Mille Plateux), and added to the genre's popularity perhaps more than any other artist. He has recorded several albums under just as many names (Lowfour, Mokira, Rechord and more), worked with some of Europe's most influential electronic music labels, and been awarded for a Swedish Grammy in 2005, after two consecutive nominations. A native of Hassleholm, Andreas now resides in Stockholm, where he runs Repeatle studios, creates his own music, and works as a mastering engineer for several record labels. Greg Smith Neil Wiernik http:///www.vagueterrain.net - curators/editors -- artist information tractile - sarnia / http://www.yearofthemachine.com/ / http://www.tractile.net If someone was asked what it would sound like if all of the most frightening, most exciting and sexiest scenes in cinema history were spliced together and merged with a robotic dance score, Tractile would surely be the reply. Adam Young (b. 1983) and Joel Boychuk (b. 1985), with several years of miscellaneous music experience behind them and a few years as great friends and partners-in-crime, decided to reinvent their sound and call themselves Tractile. Having been obsessed with the concept of controlling the uncontrollable and seducing recorded sound of any kind, the name was a suiting merge between the words track and tactile. Boychuk and Young played their first public live show in 2003 and have continued to shake dance-floors ever since, always impressing and exciting their audience far beyond expectation. Influenced by a strange combination of filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and George Lucas and the evolution of techno music and emergence of the minimal sound through artists like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Milligan, Tractile delivers barrages of demented but motivating tech grooves perfect for dance floors and at-home listeners alike... and with a swiftly-growing international fanbase, it's no wonder the name is on the toungue-tips of DJs and music fans everywhere. intercom - montreal / http://www.le-son666.com/intercom/ http://www.vagueterrain.net/content/archives/journal01/intercom.html Intercom's music is based on improvisations composed on keyboards, laptops (supporting homemade software), vocals, and various available instruments. In the tradition of German Krautrock bands such as Can and Neu!, Intercom then constructs tracks from these improvisations. In concert, Intercom gives a dynamic and explosive performance. A regular show runs the gamut from psychedelic jams to noise and back all keeping that monster beat. Audience members are sometimes known to plug their ears - but do it with asmile - due to the extreme noise and loud volume, while they dance along to the addictive pulsations of the Intercom sound. Intercom was founded by Jean-Michel Gadoua, Nicolas Dion and Pascal Gauthier in 2002. All three are self-taught musicians and hail from various electro-rock bands. Intercom was founding with the sole purpose of having fun and making spontaneous music with electronic devices and various available instruments. (313) New tooooooooooooooons!
Loads and loads and loads and loads of new tunes out at the moment: Bumper- Tuff Groove/Detroit (MDEX)great 80's synth-funk- vocoder stuff carried off with aplomb Audio Werner- Just Dar It (Trapez ltd)never managed to track down any of the other Audio Werner tracks yet- this 2 track EP is excellent deep quirky Techno/House stuff Tribute To John Surman- I:Cube, Tim Paris and Tekel2 Tracks of fairly driving, edgy, fx-laden Techno and one more down tempo piece with the odd Black Dog squiggle and chord change and deep, heavy percussion. Theo Parrish- Levels/Shifting Sands1st thing on Sound Signature I've liked in the last couple of years- B side is particularly good. Art Of Tones- Vol1+2(20/20 vision) Not sure who this is but half a dozen tracks of vaguely Pigna-esque dancefloor Techno with big strings and chords, driving rythyms and plenty of character. Sutekh remix on Mo's Ferry- can't find my copy at teh moment to get more info but if you can find this record I would highly recommend giving it a listen- I've never really taken to Sutekh before but this one (and his TWO albums of collected remixes which came out a couple of weeks ago) has really opened my eyes- it's incredibly well programmed material with stunning use of non musical noises over complicated ryhtyms, crazy edits AND it still bangs too! Also really liking: Dandy Jack on Perlon (not normally a label I buy much on either!) Neil Landstrum- Life of Grime (big Ableton mash up of loads of early 90's Bleep stuff put through the blender- Nightmares on Wax, Nude Photo, Forgemasters- all sorts of stuff- tuff but great fun with it) Mossa- Black Bananas (Tejada and Maxwell mixes and the orginal too) Acid Boy Chair- Gold Soundz (utterly unique mix of harsh electronics, accoustic guitars, Ableton trickery, Aphex/Ceephax Acid Crew madness- even people who have bought this record have asked what the hell is that? when we play it in the shop- it's so varied and off the wall you just can't quite remember all the tracks) and loads and loads and loads and loads more- wish I had more time to type!! cheeers Jason

No, not vinyl. I'm trying to break the record for the most online listeners at my station. The bar is currently set at 39 simultaneous listeners. I'm sure I can get more people than that though if only 1/8 of the people on 313 listen for a bit. Please go to www.wesufm.org and listen to my show tonight (11-09-05) at 9:30 eastern time. The feeds are high quality. That's just under 3 hours from when this message was sent. Tell a friend (or two or three...) WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU--- I've got an acid house set by James Cotton (Ghostly International) that I'll be playing tonight. I've been listening to the set for about 2 weeks now. It's AWESOME. No matter what you're into, you'll like it. Trust me! Thanks in advance! Anton Vault Radio, 88.1FM www.antonbanks.com live audio at www.wesufm.org
