Hey 313ers, Does anyone have the link for the Saturday Black nation Records artists/claude young afterparty that popped up here a while ago? I haven't seen any thing else about it and I need it. The other afterparties are up on www.detroitluv.com just in case you didn't know... tom

From what I remember this was taken for the Detroit Techno Museum that was around a few years ago. Is the exhibit still up in parts? That is about right, it was a promotional picture for the opening of the Detroit Techno exhibition down at the Detroit Historical Museum. Is there anything in the Museum relating to techno at the moment? I was disappointed not to see anything when I was there a couple of years ago. So I guess that is new(ish) Kent? Can't be so sure any more... The exhibit opened in January 2003. Not sure when the photo was taken. Probably in the Spring? Certainly doesn't look like Detroit in January. The opening party was at the Rooster Tail. Mojo himself introduced Aux Men who then played live versions every Detroit classic you could think of. Twas a good night indeed. _ See what youre getting into before you go there http://newlivehotmail.com/?ocid=TXT_TAGHM_migration_HM_viral_preview_0507

so we've seen stuff like this one a number of times http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/?media - but what the heck here's another! I guess the thing with this one is it looks like it's further down the road of commercial availability?
RE: (313) interesting photo.
There was still nothing there when I was there last summer. Shame really considering how the exhibit was the most visited exhibit in the history of the museum. -Original Message- From: Nick Hardie [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 09 May 2007 14:53 To: list 313 Subject: Re: (313) interesting photo. Re: (313) interesting photo.
According to my sister who was just there with my nephews boy scout troop: Yes... there is a wall/hall of techno left up there. Nothing major, but a little something. You'll miss it if you don't look for it. The exhibit was supposed to go on tour around the US after it's year here in Detroit. Re: (313) another alternative synth interface - like the others!
I think the Bjork is using this one. Supposed to be pretty cool, though maybe rather big to be practical for normal touring. Personally, I think a touch screen would be a just fine for allowing more interactivity. Combine any modular synth that you program on the fly, an LCD touchscreen laptop, and a video out from the laptop to a projection screen, and you could give a more interactive performance, where people could actually see what you are doing in a similar way to Reactable. ~David On 5/9/07, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: so we've seen stuff like this one a number of times http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/?media - but what the heck here's another! Re: (313) another alternative synth interface - like the others!
That's true, but I was thinking of this more in the context of experimental/noise music, not dance music. Unfortunately though, a lot of people do have this visual-centric mindset where they can't get over the fact that plugging away on a laptop, for example, is 'boring' to watch, no matter how sick the beats are (ie. Surgeon's sets). ~David On 5/9/07, Martin Dust [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Don't know about you guys but I go out to dance not watch a DJ or Screen m On 9 May 2007, at 15:27, David Powers wrote: I think the Bjork is using this one. Sure I can understand it but Whitehouse are better as they are rather than twiddling with a load of ashtrays on a table top ;) Unfortunately though, a lot of people do have this visual-centric mindset where they can't get over the fact that plugging away on a laptop, for example, is 'boring' to watch, no matter how sick the beats are (ie. Re: (313) Somebody posted a Claude Young afterparty here a while back
I would have liked to go to this. But since I'm playing a Live PA at the Tronic Treatment party, that's probably not going to happen! I know that it might not be the kind of techno you all dig, but it should be a fun party (Deetron and Tony Rohr) - and it is in the old Music Institute space! So consider dropping by if you are in town for DEMF... Oh, and that night I will also be celebrating the release of a split vinyl ep, with Detroit's own Punisher, which should be out just in time for the festival. ~David On 5/9/07, Wojtek [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: this one?
