Re: (313) SONAR 2005

2005-03-31 Thread Johannes Gronvall
It's the greatest city in the world and there are some great club nights, so
you don't need to bother with the event itself (esp. the night one)

Yes, it is a nice city..

..but please note that it is getting popular in Barcelona to add some
fuk'n high season extra to accommodation prices in Barcelona during
Sonar festival. I would highly recommend to visit the city some other time..

But if you're going there you should book the accommodation *right now*!
Getting some decent and cheap rooms to sleep in is getting difficult..it may be
too
late already?

Get an apartment with friends or go to a hostel.
I stayed in a deluxe apartment with a roof terrace opposite Gaudi's Palau
Guell for only £100 for 7 nights

I've also stayed in an apartment with friends a few times and highly
recommend it. You get the equipped kitchen etc for less than a hotel room.

But last year they also switched to high season pricing with 20-30% extra
to regular prices. Check the google with some appropriate search words..it's
still a better deal than hotels.

Re: (313) synch festival

2005-03-09 Thread Johannes Gronvall
has anyone been to the synch festival in greece?

there's some talk of it here:

 http://www.littledetroit.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8677

You can view their own website and last years lineup at:

 http://www.synch.gr/site/program.php

which looks *very* intresting..but I didn't go to the festival so
I'd also like to hear how it was last year? Sonar is going worse every year
so I'm most likely travelling to Greece this summer! :)

Last year greed spanish people started to 'rob' foreign festival guest - several
apartmentshotels offered 20-30% increase in prices during the festival..

Re: (313) Record stores in Helsinki?

2003-07-25 Thread Johannes Gronvall
hei,

There's a good few Helsinki record shops listed in Hyperreal's Rotator
locator, most of them have websites so you can check out which ones are
313ish beforehand. Record shopping in Helsinki isn't the cheapest of
activitites unless it's Finish releases you are after.

 http://music.hyperreal.org/rotator/finland.htm

this list is out of date - most of the shops are out of business now
and some (like previously pretty good) spinefarm are clearing out
techno music stock - check spinefarm for some 6e CDs, located in the
corner of annankatu and eerikinkatu.

the only idm-related shop is http://www.disndatrecords.com/ but the prices
are relatively high - this is no doubt one of the most expensive countries
to visit to.

also there may be something interesting in http://www.lifesaver.net/
most famous, streetbeat, sells mostly house/trance-dance music.

most non-pop djs in finland prefer to order their music from abroad,
usually from germany/uk.
