crikey . classic example of how not to built community .
i am writing to you as a black african queer woman denise who has put a lot
into supporting and nurturing a lot of djs and artists .
and i continue to work hard to support communities within the global music
network young and old often from marginalized communities who do not get a
look in , in the current climate in electronic music but yeah carry on
being tone deaf .
my last word . thanks for everything to everyone else over the yrs .
keep supporting music not egos .
i am out of here .

 So this just happened: http://charivaridetroit.com/

If you are one of those people who remembers the first DEMF when it was
free, and the vibe of a more mixed crowd, well guess what?! THAT is what
Chari Vari is all about. Just an incredible day with heads and kids, old
and young, plenty of families. Almost no ravers as well.

Also, the event was on Belle Isle, and you wouldn't believe better things
are (compared to Hart Plaza / Movement) with all that extra space and
natural beauty. If you get tired of nonstop beats you can just wander off
and have a picnic by the river.

Tons of great Detroit music both days, if you are from out of town and
want to hear real Detroit music, I would highly recommend coming into town
for Chari Vari. Unlike Memorial Day weekend, You can probably even get a
 reasonably priced hotel room.

I think this could become Detroit's answer to the Chosen Few house music
picnic that happens every year in Chicago. I am excited to see what next
 year brings.

Re: (313) DJ Bone denied entry into UK

2009-08-18 Thread Lerato Khathi

it would have been him not having a work permit .
these days it's almost impossible to get in as a dj or musician without
a work permit even more so if you are black .
his booker should have informed the promoters of the festival that they
need to apply for a work permit for him .

lerato
Weird story, the post did not mention what the reason was for british
immigration to deny him access. I mean i don't think they randomly
deny people access just for fun. Anyone know what that reason was?
