Despite the nice releases off late that are worth checking I am more
curious about what the good peeps of the 313list think of the Derrick May

2013-06-13 Thread Wibo Lammerts

taken the track, for example:

And that Digital Justice track also sound like it's been recorded from a
vinyl record.

Re: (313) New Transmat Comp.

2013-01-31 Thread Wibo Lammerts
Anyway.

Received my copy from Juno yesterday. And I can't say I am very impressed.
Collection of good, yet old, tunes, and some new ones. Maybe not new, but
new to me anyway. I fell for the hype once more. "Time:Space 2" is a far
better compilation, IMHO.

And what is it with "War Of the Worlds"? "Mastered from a vinyl source?"
What does that mean?

Stories like this one are very common, i think. Artists that do not get
paid, ripped off etc etc. The worst of them being Larry Sherman and Trax
Records.

But you never hear of the companies that actually do a good job. Last year
I had the pleasure of having a track included on the Fabric 60 Dave Clarke

this last week I got another royalty-statement from them in the mail. And I
must add that this was my first bit of experience with labels and royalties

Re: (313) some tunes

2012-04-19 Thread Wibo Lammerts
Cheers for that, downloading.

On that Burial/FourTet/Nova tip... Can someone please explain to me
why people find "Nova" to be such a great track? Personally, I am not
impressed by any of Burials material, and find that, in general,
dubstep/Burial is more about hype than it is about music. I have
listened about 3-4 to "Nova", and find it to be less than mediocre,
but apparently 600.000 people seem to think otherwise. So maybe I just
don't get it.

Have a look here: http://soundcloud.com/four-tet/burial-four-tet-nova
Apparently the track had 5 listenings the first 24 hours it was on
soundcloud? Ridiculous.

Anyway, just a couple of thoughts here...

(313) Spaced Out

2012-03-09 Thread Wibo Lammerts
Goodmorning,

This got probably covered many years ago on this list, but I could not
find it, so here goes.

The other day I was playing this:
http://www.discogs.com/Rhythim-Is-Rhythim-Derrick-May-Mayday-Innovator-Soundtrack-For-The-Tenth-Planet/release/12416,
and it occured to me that I have never seen a Transmat-release with
"Spaced Out" on it, except for the numerous Innovator compilations and
box-sets.

So, on which record did it first appear? I always thought it came from
this: http://www.discogs.com/Mayday-Wiggin/master/13915 but as it
turns out, Spaced Out is not on this record.

Any info is appreciated,

(313) Axis - another limited edition....

2009-04-20 Thread Wibo Lammerts
Hi all,

Last week I received the Axis newsletter. Apparently there is a new
art-exhibition in Los Angeles coming up, "Infinite Libraries", and
Jeff Mills made 14 exclusive tracks for it, a CD called "Galaxy".

The thing is, only 5 of these CD's exist and they cost $ 160 US each.

This makes me wonder... Axis has had quite a few in the past: the
7inch triple packs, the copper editions, The Ken Ishii and Ben Sims
remixes and even that Axis-009 back in the day. What's the use with
these limited editions any more, now with mp3's everywhere?

Weird, maybe in the US it's 313 day today, but here in europe it is
not 313-day until the end of the month: march 31st: 31-3 ;)

You, as a Berliner, should know that. After all, we live in the same timezone ;)
