Re: (313) 313 role call

2013-01-23 Thread Info
Hello Thomas,

Welcome to the 313 list. Did you move to Detroit or do you mean you've
been converted to Detroit techno via Shawn Rudiman? If you in
Pittsburgh, you might want to check out your local heroes, The
Pittsburg Track Authority. I don't think they have a website, but here
is a link where you can listen to their stuff. Not quite Detroit, but
definitely Detroit techno influenced.

One member of the group has a blog too. Lots of cool and interesting
DJ mixes and interviews.

techno really is. Looking forward to the conversations to come

2008-01-27 Thread info
I don't understand, I just being on holiday since a week, some vacation was
needed after the falming war of a psychostalker against me and hopefully this
will end these days for sure.

Well yeah, heard about the mobbing sedations against me called warnings as
well as the haters around, so there we must just resist.FXCK THAT SXXT.

and kent, if possible please communicate around things like that via private
mail messaging not over the list direct shown up for everyone.

at least, yeah, since ever many people get on hating when they stick into my
mixes.it's just my talent of djing and good music records .

regards.

I wont boot someone just for posting a mix, but Dan you need to
judge your audience. I keep hearing from people who seem to hate your
guts, so maybe you need to pipe down until you have something beyond
 self promo spam to contribute.

That website is a crock. A store that is as good as

online so they can advertise for their eBay auctions.

Submerge would like to sincerely thank everybody for yet
another year of underground music! Is vinyl dead?Is Detroit
dead? Well according to all of you guys...hell
f### naw!! We are like the energizer bunny while others fall
off and die we just keep going and going and going!! Speaking
of falling off it is becoming apparent that many large
distributors and retailers are falling off. And often this
worries people as to the life expentancy of vinyl. Do not
  fear!! Its simple...when you sell
bulls###.eventually people figure it out!! When
you buy according to the latest magazines and fads that feature
the latest $3000 a month publicist backed artists dont feel bad
when people dont buy the s### cause it doesnt work on the
dancefloor!! This music lives, breathes and dies on top of some
1200's and in the hearts of the people dancing to it. No amount
of publicity, hype or fashion can dress up a turd or purchase a
child of the underground. So people UR truly the spirit that
keeps all of this alive. We will continue to struggle with our
low fi, basement/bedroom productions, edited by crazy ass Floyd
on the 1/4 2 track, artwork by Haqq or Frankie on their
Mac's,mastered by grumpy ass Ron Murphy, plated by Desmond @
Mastercraft, pressed by Mike, Kenny or Andy at Archers on the
eastside, picked up by one of my just outta jail or addict
in recovery crew who i always have to give a job to or it just
wouldnt be me, packed and shipped by my sister Bridgette in a
recycled box thats probably been around the world 10 times and
pissed on by my dog Tank and then faithfully picked up by our
UPS man Matt everyday at 4pm and shipped to Everywhere, Planet
Earth zip code 33 1/3. When this much reality and soul touches
every record you buy from here it really makes a digital
download seem quite void and vunerable. Circles have no end!!

don't think this got mentioned before, but i just thought i'd check if
any more of last years sets had been added to the demf website, and
found that now all (?) of last years sets are available.

i think you can only listen through an embedded player, but i bet there
are some less-technically-disabled people than me on this list that
might be able to post links to the mp3(?)sources of these files.

Betreff: (313) administrative issues -- welcome to new users

There have been a rash of new subscribers in the past couple of weeks.
 Welcome!

 Some things:

 1. You have to send your messages in plain text format. If you don't
they bounce to me, and when i get around to it, I'll forward it back
to you to let you know why your message didn't go through.
Plain text means no boldface, italics, yellow-on-white text, images,
sound files etc. This is a list where the words matter and where a
few old crusties still use command line mail readers.

 2. You need to avoid the sort of words that get Americans (and their
corporate mail filters) upset. That would include fvck, sh1t,
c0cksvcker, cvnt, and such. See what I did there? If you must use
those words, you can obfuscate them to sneak past the filter. I don't
give a sh1t -- the whole idea is to let people use their work e-mail
accounts to read the 313 list.

 3. There are certain standards of civility that must be maintained.
What are they? Completely arbitrary and up to myself and Matt Mcqueen
and other old school list worthies. I'm not going to ban someone
until and unless they ignore warnings to cool it.

 4. There are some rules that would come under rule #3 -- impersonating
others for self-aggrandizement or mischief, subscribing under more
than one e-mail and pretending to be more than one person, advocating
or participating in illegal or immoral acts with direct bearing on the
artists and business about which this list concerns itself. I have
gotten warnings about one recent subscriber from several people having
been a bad actor elsewhere on the internets, and while I'm not going
to ban that person in advance of any bad behavior, I do in fact read
every message that goes through the list, and won't hesitate to act.

 5. Given items 3 and 4, occasional strife and hurt feelings aren't
enough to earn a ban. I'll ask nicely for people who get salty to cool
it, if they start getting too personal. Especially if it has nothing
to do with Detroit Techno. But we're all grownups here, right?
Anyone who goes really negative and personal will just have to live
with the impression that leaves on other people. Anyone whose
feelings are hurt needs to consider whether they want to give 7-bit
ASCII strings that much power in their lives. I'll even help you
write a mail filter or killfile to get rid of e-mail from people who
 bother you.

 Dear Mr. Cortez:

12 inch mastering for both sides is $250. which includes shipping to a U.S.
pressing plant, shipping to others outside the U.S.A. would incur some
 additional charge.

any messages to be placed on the disc are done at no extra charge.

one groove loops are charged at the rate of $10. extra per each loop.

I will need at least 10 seconds of each loop at 133.3 BPM in order to make
sense, but can be placed anywhere on the lacquer.

(313) Work With UR Through Alter Ego!

2008-01-09 Thread info
It's that time of the year again! No, that OTHER time of the year! The time
when Alter Ego Management (of whom Underground Resistance is our biggest
client!) starts searching for interns! Tasks can and will range from booking,
to artist relations, to the not so exciting, mundane things like typing,
researching and cataloging. We will be interfacing with Submerge (of course!),
Indiana University, radio stations, and more. It's an unpaid internship, but
college credit CAN be arranged.

This is an internship for people interested in the BUSINESS of music, in
particular, artist and project management and artist relations. We do not have
any music production internships available. The internship is extremely
flexible in that the responsibilities and hours can vary from person to person.
For instance, if a candidate can write good copy, but cannot travel, then
perhaps that person would do only that. The time frame is for four months for
anyone looking to receive any sort of college credit as an independent study
from January to April. Anyone simply looking for experience can discuss with us
the parameters of what he or she is looking to accomplish with the internship
and how long that may be.

Given the nature of the work, there is a tendency to assume this is casual,
fun work, and it can be, but schedules and deadlines can be critical to the
functioning of the label and there will be some very unglamorous, boring work
that still needs to be done as well. There are going to be times when your own
creativity and innovation will be critical to getting the job done. This is not
a corporate job where you are in a box and expected to only perform a set group
of tasks.

While some of the tasks can be tailored to your strengths, the real development
comes from taking on challenges that you may be unfamiliar with so that you can
grow. The position involves being exposed to a number of problems, the
successful candidate will be a person who knows how to find solutions. Below is
a list of things that may be asked of you. It is not all inclusive and it may
include aspects that you will never experience in the course of the internship.
Experience is NOT a prerequisite, only a strong desire to work and learn.

Making followup or cold calls to venues
Reviewing demos
Picking up and/or dropping off artists at the airport
Collection of artist fees for performances
Selling merchandise
Arranging for the design and manufacture of merchandise
Writing and/or distributing press releases and promotional materials
Acting as an artist assistant
Arranging interviews, photo shoots
Tour management
Licensing music to other labels
Arranging remixes for artists
Assisting in show production and/or booking
Researching venues, festivals, labels, travel and more
Responding to fan questions and comments
Conflict resolution
Reading articles, books, blogs, and more
Reviewing basic contracts for performance, sales, etc.

Given that the position may expose you to sensitive information regarding
artists on this label and others, a confidentiality agreement is required. Any
written documentation of the internship, including academic, is subject to
review before dissemination.

Are there perks? Of course! You get access to free music and concerts, meet
some of the biggest names in dance and electronic music and more. The
internship may very well open up opportunities to work in other fields or in
other countries. Or, in the course of the internship, you may be able to create
your own paid post internship position with UR, Alter Ego, or another
organization. Anything is possible.

For more information contact ALTER EGO MANAGEMENT. Please make certain to put
Internship in the subject line.

Thank you!

...I am so damn shameless that Ill add this:
(From The WIRE mag - Phillip Sherbourne)
London label Real Soon just keeps getting better.
From its origins in loosely Detroit- and Chicago-flavoured House music, it is
branching out into ever more esoteric records that can't be pinned to any
particular style, past or present. At a moment when by-the-numbers club bangers
are causing exhaustion even among dance music fans, each successive Real Soon
release stands as a gentle reminder that there are still more sounds, rhythms
and ? most importantly ?tempos worth exploring.
If you told me these two cuts dated from 1982 I'd believe you, though mercifully there's
nothing to date them as old or new, retro or futurist. While plenty of new disco has
dedicated itself to the sub-110bpm range, the likes of Lindstrom have never attempted
something as deliberately turgid as Blue Plates, which grinds out a heavily
reverbed rhythm forged of 808 toms, hypnotically swirling handclap patterns and an
Industrial strength snare. In the background, unctuous bass and noxious pads do their
best ?to drag down weirdly sprightly keys and blips.
On the B side, an up-and-down arpeggio and a lumbering shaker rhythm circle
each other like wary adversaries while walking bass and jazz keys set up a
lounge atmosphere for a world that's uneasy to the core.

Remixes' , (Third Ear ) remixing Delano Smith's 'Metropolis' . Having
played nights such as 'Lost' e.t.c. He used to be the friendly face at
Smallfish records too ! :)

Room 2 will be hosted by Süd residents Nick Craddock Marco Shuttle .
These guys have been more than impressive this year . Stealing the
thunder from guests on many occassions . They will be joined by a
special friend to Süd ; Stefano . The party is not a party without
Stefano , in fact he has hosted many a Süd afterparty :) Stefano has
such a vast knowledge of electronic music , not to mention a vast
collection , so his

Süd debut , should be magical then ! :)

Dial Records are renowned for the exceptional artwork on their records
too , with David Lieske's ( Carsten Jost ) , growing reputation in the
Contemporary circles in Germany . They will be working with our very
own Brittski , in bringing us some wonderful visual work on the night .

Not to be missed !

TO THE BONE: Welcome To The Errordome

After departing the previous venue due to an outbreak of spontaneously
combusting crack-whores, To The Bone returns to a dancefloor so spankingly
pristine, you could eat your breakfast off it.

To christen this virgin snow, TTB welcomes Der Wonkmeister himself, ERRORSMITH,
to the DJ cage. One half of Smith ‘N Hack (who recently remixed Herbert’s
‘Moving Like A Train’), he’ll be conducting a 3-hour Ableton jamboree
comprising dubstep, dancehall, disco and the kind of knock-kneed house music
that’ll have you dancing like a pigeon-toed gazelle with rickets.

In support are two of London’s biggest Boners, residents Charlie Blue and
littletony, who’ll be standing stiff and proud behind the decks, and whacking
off some third-rate mixes.

A few days ago, at a society dinner party, myself and the guests were
enjoying the subtle delights of Maurice Joshua's I've Got A Big Dick
over
hors d'ouevres. One of the gentlemen politely inquired as to what Maurice
Joshua, a man whose sensitivity was equalled only by his immense talent,
might be doing these days. None of us knew.

Then the next day, an advertisment appeared on television for a Destiny's
Child remix album. My ears perked up when I heard that it included remixes
from, among others, Maurice Joshua. I had to do a double-take to make sure
I
 wasn't hearing things.

So what's Maurice Joshua up to? Is he making sleazy acid remixes of songs
like Survivor and Emotions these days? Or what? It's all pretty
intriguing - kind of like Luke making a record with Alanis Morrisette...

Carl Cox has been named the greatest DJ in the world. Under most

[Eevoinfo] Terminal!

2000-08-21 Thread Info Eevo Lute (E-mail)
A little off topic.but I think this might interest some people on this
list...

Terminal is about death and the question if and how we really experience and
live our lives to the full. Death poses many questions, most of which remain
unanswered.
Still, dealing with death can be valuable.

Realisation and acceptance of the radical ending of our life can lead to an
enormous realisation of freedom. The more we are capable of facing our death,
the bigger our inner freedom will be.

A person prepared to die is a true free spirit..

Terminal

With Terminal Het Witte Vuur brings theatre as a real-life video.
A hallucinating range of theatre, film, and text will be brought in conjunction
with a concert of Acid Junkies' leading man Stefan Robbers.
With Terminal Het Witte Vuur wants to present the audience with a complete
experience, stimulating all senses and presenting interaction between music,
text, and images live.
A new form of theatre which aims at a pop-, techno- and theatre audience.

In Terminal five passengers on route to Toronto are followed. In the middle of
the night their plane makes an unexpected stop, forcing them to stay in an
airport terminal.
During the play it becomes clear that the passengers, without realising it, are
victims of a plane-crash in which everybody got killed.
In the twilight between life and death they see their realities fall apart in a
surreal way.

In Terminal the audience as well as the players are at an airport terminal.
In this total environment the audience will be surrounded by air hostesses,
luggage carts, and monitors showing flight-data. With light and surround-sound
this total experience will be strengthened even further.
For Terminal Stefan Robbers (Acid Junkies) will compose new music.
Every concert-performance will end in a sparkling techno-party.

Terminal is partly realised by funding from het Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten
(Fund for Staged Arts) and het LIRA fonds (LIRA Fund).

Background

With Eye Popper Party and Moving Networks Het Witte Vuur has been pioneering
the last two years by flinging itself in the sparkling energy of dance-parties,
thus realising daring and unconventional projects.

During the making of Moving Networks it was necessary to let go of the most
imperative theatrical convention - the law of keeping the full attention of the
audience.
Moving Networks is a four hour zap-feast, where party and art come together
without any problems - a total package of dance, party, going out and theatre,
dance and film.

In our view of theatre-making, we are significantly inspired by the actual
developments in the pop- and dance-music.
Dance-music has been renewing for years - not only in musically, but also in
its search for connections with other appealing cultural utterances such as
video-art, dance, fashion, life-style, and performance. Dance as cultural
phenomenon is fed considerably by the need of the young audience itself and has
therefore a tangent plane with society: constantly it is able to reach out to a
large, young audience in a natural way.

Thinking along these lines makes that the accepted ideas about the
'centre-point' of theatre-experience are being discussed. When watching MTV it
takes a long time before you realise what is more important: the music, the
artist's looks, or the video.
The 'package' is just as important or maybe even more so than what you have to
offer, without affecting the artistic quality.
In the case of Moving Networks the dance-party is the well-known 'package' for
the youth in which we want to seek their attention for modern theatre.

From experience, we have found the idea to visit a new audience on their own
territory very successful.
Moving Networks is very well received by theatre-programmers, press, and the
audience, and is very successful with a young audience, having an average of
800 visitors.
All in all, one could say that the path Het Witte Vuur has chosen has proven to
be very successful. Both artistically and organisationally we can now reap what
we have sown for many years.

Stefan Robbers

Stefan Robbers is a giant in the international dance-world with his Acid
Junkies. He stands out because of the versatility in his music. This varies
from hard acid/techno to intelligent and quietening ambient.
Acid Junkies are renowned worldwide for their energetic live-act. With their
renewing acid they enjoy a big and young audience.
Robbers is also producer and owner of the innovative Eevo Lute-dance-label.
