Re: New 313-relevant stuff
Have always dug Strand’s stuff. I remember listening to their remix of Radiohead’s Reckoner repeatedly. It was part of a remix comp I think? Just found it again now on Soundcloud. https://m.soundcloud.com/harbonder/reckoner-radiohead-remix-2 Agree that the latest release great. Can’t get enough of Idiom. Re: Favorite Track
Yeah this is a VERY hard question. I think I’ll choose the one track that turned me onto this music, because if not for this, I may have totally missed out on a load of great music. It was - Intellitronic - Pixel. First heard it on radio in Adelaide, Australia on the China Syndrome show which was hosted by Offworld Records’ Jason Martin and Tim Jackiw at the time. I got my book quite a few months back. Pretty sure I only got it then as I’d commented on a post on Facebook asking when it was coming out as I saw Tresor were selling some, but I’d donated on the Indigogo thingy. Re: (313) handbags.
there's been talk of whether this came straight from KDJ or not, and yes, we should probably find out if it did before making anymore comment, but just remember this quote from the Silent Introduction sleeve notes: and to all you white suburban kids, sampling black music all the time, try some rock 'n roll for a change, you're making black music sound silly, weak and tired and most of all a stranger. make up your own mind. however, even tho i find it a tad racist, i'm still gonna and buy the record. peace nath - Original Message - From: Anya Stang [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 9:06 AM Subject: (313) handbags. Re: (313) [313] perhaps OT... track notation.
that's the way i do it too. like you said, time consuming, but does the trick. i then burn it using nero. In soundforge you can divide up the large wav. file. I often do this for my mixes. It is time consuming though. Its best to start from the end of the file as it works faster. Find the very start of the last tune (or wherever you want to index it) then highlight it from that point to the end of the file. Then cut and paste to a new window. Keep doing this until the entire mix is chopped up into separate windows. Then burn onto the CD in the proper order... voila. np - norma jean bell - late night show

Hi all I was listening to mix 499 Into The Future by Boo Williams on DeepHousePage http://www.deephousepage.com/boow.ram. The first track sounded like a remix of Octave One's Burujha. Well it obviously has more, but these are the only ones I can really hear properly :) cause where i, i come from, there aint no foolin' around. so you're time has come, what you saying now? i can be a player if it's games that you want. i can be your lover if it's love that you want. taking time to decide, opportunity. , insanity, takes a hold of your hand(or head?), leaving you standing around. take to long like we said. what's going down? But back to their EPs, my favorites: - 'Trans-Jazz EP' on 'Simplex Records' (1996): Features 'Lovelee Dae' and a great cover of 'Time Marches On'. - 'Directions Part 1' on 'Spiritual Life (1998). - 'The Blaze Tracks EP' on Nuphonic (1995) which features my favorite Blaze track ever: 'Moonwalk'. - 'Klubhead EP' on 'Smack Music' (199?). Yeah, I'll add to that, Home is Where the Heart Is, Feel the Music, Lovely One's. Also their remix of I Thank You by Stephanie Cooke, basically any of their remixes are always deep, groovy afairs. nath Cheers, Michel

What's that record?! You don't have to dance to recognise that it's a pretty similar achievement: everyone comes away saying, damn he/she banged it out - *that's* what I'm after. As to how you do it, do it any way you want to. I used to do tricks far more than I do now, I now never scratch beyond the odd second copy doubling up, and I pretty much conform to Cyclone's sleep house school of DJing. I certainly *wouldn't* say that the mix supercedes the records - quite the opposite - and in any case, it's just something that I have observed works better for the music I play. Some of the sleep house gang would say that mixing it up in the Mills style is mix over content, but they'd be equally wrong. It's horses for courses, and I suppose a good DJ will adapt accordingly. In my case, it's certainly not lack of skill - I'm relying on some charity here :) - nor is it some deeper than thou homage to the house canon, it just works for me. Not to say there aren't style over content DJs, but they're the *real* boring ones. All just IMHO.

Me: Nathan Goode - 24 Live in Adelaide, Australia. Been on 313 for about 4 years now. First lurking for a while and now occasionally posting, usually Track IDs! Work for a bank (boring!!) but about to start a radio announcing course and have done a bit of freelance writing. Like all music styles, especially techno, house, deep house, hip-hop, jazz, bossanova. Got into this music by watching the TV doco 'Dancing In The Streets' when i heard the wonderful 'It Is What It Is' by Derrick May. Ever since then my music tastes changed as I realised that this was the music I waited years to hear. Since that day been buying Detroit techno, house and other records. Bedroom dj producer (although I haven't done any music for ages!) Only a baby on the record front, compared to a lot of you guys, only have about 200, but ever increasing, as my pay packet decreases. cheerio nath np - Sterolab - Diagonals. ps - has anyone thought of having a web site for posting track IDs? could get out of hand really quickly I'd think? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] Track IDs - Mike Grant set
Hello oh wise peeps can anyone tell me the names of the following tracks from Mike Grant's set from the ABadMutha site. They go a little like this: There are people trying to ?, The extensions of ?, When the day is . ? Makes me feel so alive. Makes my life feel so alive x2. Thru the crowded streets where I have walked. Rushing past with only you. the other: Look in my eyes do you see me the way i see you. Look at me now, do you need me the way i need you. But it's not right for me to be there it's not right for me to care. Inside your soul do you desire to touch me. Inside your soul do you desire to caress me. Cause i do so deeply, want it so bad. Thanks a bunch! nath

Likewise, I would also like a copy of the series. Email me privately if anyone can help cheers nath Jonny McIntosh wrote: It was a great bit of TV - hopefully the rest of the series will be as good. They also played the accapella with bells and bongos of Candi Staton's You Got The Love that Tristan is after and which several of us here have been puzzling over. Anyone know where it is from? I tried to look at the label but alas! Can't remember who it was, either, that was in that bit of footage (demonstrating what you can do with an accapella and a beat). They also bizarrely played Love Break followed immediately by Word Is Love, two records I have just ordered from one guy. And Time to Jack, which was on my turntable. Or maybe I'm just house as f**k. What I particularly liked was that all the talking heads used (Marshall Jefferson, Chip E, Derrick May, Larry Sherman, Earl Smith, various clubgoers etc) were people who were actually there and part of it, not just pundits and commentators. The narrative was a bit overblown occasionally, though. I think the last quarter, which as I remember followed the section about house's transition to vinyl via Jesse Saunders' 'On And On', was basically about Phuture discovering acid and Marshall Jefferson releasing 'Move Your Body'. The argument was that House was now poised to - dum dum der! - take over the world! On the whole, they stuck to the main players/clubs: Disco, Paradise Garage/NYC, Warehouse/Knuckles, Muzic Box/Ron Hardy (I never knew Muzic Box was spelled with a Z), Trax, Jesse Saunders/Vince Lawrence, Marshall J etc. My favourite bit was when Saunders and Lawrence told how they went down to a record shop with a thousand copies of 'On And On' and offered them to the buyer. They expected to sell the guy a few copies and to have to haggle over the price; instead he took them all at the price they named. He wrote out a cheque for $4000 on the spot. We went back outside, got in the car and screamed! I'll be watching next week. By the way, I'll be getting all the music channels on cable soon - what, if any, shows cater to the underground/electronic/dance fan? [313] track id's pleeeease
hi all got a few tracks that i'm dying to know what they are and who did them: first off, from the Boo Williams mix on Deep House page the first track. with the vocals: Praise, Praise, Praise, Praise. i remember the days, when i thought i was alone, life was always a maze sometimes i felt disowned. but you were always there you have always cared. no matter how far i scream, you'd already be there. now when i look back, i can see the things you've done. and i hope to thank you, for my saviour and your son. from the mike clark/norm talley set on freqdetroit a track with the vocals: whatever it takes, whatever it is i'll be there for you. it's all i have to give now baby. to you my baby. take me baby, and take your time right now baby. cos i want to love you all nite long baby. i want to take you, wrap you in my arms. wanna love you all nite baby. wanna show you what love really is. i wanna be there for you now baby, baby, baby... (and so on). and lastly, (i promise!!) from a glenn underground set on betalounge a track with the vocals: the first - i can barely remember, the flavour of you kiss on the tip of my tongue. but i can still feel the moment. your spirit rushed thru me like a river wild. your spirit rushed thru me like a river wild. it wet me like an ocean crashing on the sands of the sahara. now many moons have passed since we rode that wave, and many miles i've tred on my journey home. lying on distant shores, a shred of hope flickers as i try to forget. a once in a lifetime, never come your way again, wish upon a star. love? is on my mind. thank you nath - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Downloading the .ram file (metafile) does no good, as this file simply tells the web browser to launch your realmedia player and then points the player to the actual location of the .ra file itself. You can download the .ram file (right click as save as) and then open it with Notepad, that will tell you the location of the .ra file itself. As far as burning it to CD, you'd have to convert the .ra file to .wav format... either the old fashioned analog way (speaker output to cassette deck or mini-disc or whatever, then back to the computer's hard drive via line input) or use a program like ra2wav that will do it digitally for you. Ordering Records On-Line
Hi peeps Can someone give me some advice for buying records online, ie - which stores should i but from? i've bought from submerge before, but was wondering about other stores like groovetech, recordtime, sonic groove. i've seen listened to plenty of records from the groovetech site that i want to buy. how long does it take to receive the records once ordering how are they with postage? are there any other sites i should try? any help will be greatly appreciated. cheers nath
no more demf! + record id
hi all for many of us unfortunate enough not to be going to the demf, i think there should be no more mention of the DEMF on 313 and all sites referring to DEMF should be pulled down. the sheer mention of it, brings me to a depresing state, so then i put on some records to 'lift me up', but then on realising they'll probably be played at the DEMF, the depression starts again. it's a vicious cirle :) but seriously, i've been seeing people complaining about who is, or who is not playing, but just count your lucky stars you're going to be there. hope you all have a great time!!! alos, can anyone please help me i have a record by someone called 'jackson' and i believe it's called 'dracula's on a good thing' can't it read it all. the both sides of the label are black, so don't know any track names. any help would be appreciated. peace nath
