Re: (313) bunker jet lag

2009-07-15 Thread paul mouser
The Greg Wilson comment is fair but his radio 1 essentail mix was very good,

the sinclair spectrum 48k was a very popular computer for games in the
80s here in the UK (sorry crap joke, the red wine was talking)

If anyone has any good mix links they would greatly be appreciated?

(313) bunker jet lag

2009-07-13 Thread paul mouser
Listening to the claro intelecto bunker podcast, i don't know whether
its the jet lag and being glad to back in the UK after another souless
NJ buisness trip but i am loving this. Ideal line up if i was to
create my own imagination club with great speakers tonight

Greg Wilson (plus loads of birds and the odd yello edit)

Will Saul (still not seen him DJ but hopefully it will be good)

Claro Intelecto

& ?? dunno this forum seems a bit quiet these days, everyone
married or is it like the spectrum 48K?

take care and have good weeks

Re: (313) Kraftwerk - brief report, Ralf loses it shocker.

2009-07-13 Thread paul mouser
Nice review thanks, would love to have gone to that gig but i was away
when the tickets came out and then they were stupid money on ebay.
Still im glad i caught them at Brixton a few years back, not just for
the music, but for the great characters in the audience also! I'll
never forget a small guy in his 60s dancing completely out of rhythm
with a smile on his face. That gig seem to attaract every type of
fan. I would of liked to have gone to the brixton gig afterwards at
midnight just to see the difference in set and people. Did anyone go
to both, was there differences? Cheers

Just wondering if there is any sets by claro on the web to download?

(313) podcasts

Just wondering if anyone could recommend some decent podcasts, which
play quality deep electronic music. Don't really want it too hard,
pref a mixture of stuff. The RA podcasts are always good, but i'm
not really looking for mixes (unless there are any more andy stott
sounding mixes out there!)

Current fav is the riotcontrol podcast. Dam fine.

Another i have heard is the bodytonic (the spirit catcher one has some
nice stuff on it)

For English humour i enjoy the adam and joe podcast which is on bbc6.

Cheers, have good wkds,

Thats the problem with techno though the term itself is very

Hello, found a nice mix to download;

http://www.buoyancy.org.uk/mixes/credibles-best-of-2006-mix

first 30 mins are great, the ame mix is spot on. Anyone else got any
good mix downloads in the same vein? I expect there is a million on
myspace but i can't be arsed at present.

Thanks for the software advice

(313) mix software

2007-05-01 Thread paul mouser

Dear All,

Sorry if this has already been discussed but i was just wondering what
the best mix software was to mix and record mp3 music (user friendly
and pc based). Obviously i would prefer using my decks but i would
like to record a quick set for friends (at work!) instead of the usual
electronic comp using itunes or media player.

i have noticed this;

but there seems to be loads out there;

proper, diverse mix (incl. one of my rap faves, freestyle fellowship - parkbench people!), but i'm wondering why
the mispelled "cybertron" better known as cybotron and his legendary "clear" is on that mix,

did he live in L.A. at that time, or was/is fantasy a label from L.A.?

soul jazz records have loads of brilliant stuff, u can try starting
buying the 100%-600% dynamite cds which contain a mixture of stuff or
you can find your preffered sound and buy them

and I liked his single last year but outside of that I
really haven't heard much that I like.

Except for this Weatherall mix that seems to be good.
And the Scion and Tikiman live gig that I heard.

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Re: (313) Your favorite CD only compilations/mixes

2007-03-08 Thread paul mouser

i like Fear and Loathing Vol.2: Mixed By Luke Slater

cd1 is great ..good old fashioned walking to the shops music!

Looking for some listening pleasures today for work I pulled the Kevin
Saunderson Deep Space X-Mix, Derrick May's "The Mayday Mix", and Colin
Faver's "On the decks with..." mix

would love to get some more commercially available mixes that were either
CD only or better heard on CD (like the X-Mix series of which I have a few)
figured I could use a few more CD only compilations or releases

what are some of your top CD only releases (or those better heard on CD)?

(313) BERLIN - clubs vs bars

2007-03-07 Thread paul mouser

Hi just wondering if there is anything decent going on in berlin on
the 16/17th wkd in berlin. I see phonique is playing at the arena on
the sat (worth seeing?). I doubt i will be able convince my friends
(who all seem to be getting married!) to be able to go clubbing so if
someone can recommend a good bar with some decent djs that would be
great,

any good listing (whats going on in berlin) would also be great

have good weeks

Someone played me a track by Cobblestone Jazz that blew me away. I hate having
to compare music,

Germain, but it is
definitely doing it's own thing.

I was surprised to hear that Mathew Jonson is one of the producers. I was never
that impressed
with his minimal stuff on M_nus but I am glad to hear he has a more 'maximal'
side.

Has anyone got any recommendations on releases or similar material?

well jealous Fred! I caught him play with his band at the jazz cafe
in London and it was fantastic. He also played fabric but i missed
that (anyone go?). Hollie Smith sang at the jazz cafe, and she
sounded amazing. She has done an ep but haven't heard it?

http://www.amplifier.co.nz/release/14117/hollie_smith_ep.html

I just hope recloose puts another fine techno mix out like his one on
jigsaw. Or even DJ in England would be good.

I see rhythm and sound are playing fabric on the 3rd is this an
experience worth seeing anyone?

Had a chance to catch Recloose DJing at Sandwiches in Wellington
a week ago, and Matt's new project, the Recloose Live Band, at a
street fair in Petone just outside Welly last night. At the corner
of Jackson and Buick, would you believe.

The band is an eight-piece jazz/funk outfit playing mostly
originals and really is quite good, staying away from the cliches
that plague these kinds of efforts.

They have a brand-new CD out, Backwards and Sideways,
recorded live at the San Francisco Bath House club in Wellington
last November:

http://www.myspace.com/reclooseliveband

The CD doesn't have my favorite track, "Sanctuary," but you can
hear it on Matt's Myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/mattchicoine

I talked with Matt a little and I think he misses tha D a lot
(who doesn't of those who emigrate), and making a living doing
music is hard anywhere but harder when your main markets
are 10,000 miles away, but he's scraping through and doing it
grand. So, good on yer Matt. And will someone PLEASE book
this band for the Detroit music festival this year!

Peter i would head to 2 places;

notting hill, there is a shop called music and video exchange (there
is 3 of them one specialising in dance music), which is 2 floors of
dance vinyl and cds (mostly second hand or promos)

then head to soho, berwick street, there is quite a few shops on this
street (see link)

http://www.londonnet.co.uk/ln/out/music/record-shops.html

http://www.talkingcities.co.uk/london_pages/shopping_music.htm

Berwick is just off oxford street (the main shopping street in
London), i would leave the girlfriend on oxford street and have your
self some flicking time as you could spend half a day here!

Enjoy

Im after some hypnotic deep electronic tracks/mixes, similar vein to
alex smoke "don't see the point" or charles websters remix of deep
