Re: (313) 10 years?
This is ironic. I was talking to someone the other day about how long I've been on the list. When did the time go? I believe I subbed in late 96 or early 97 at the advisement of steve lammers and a man named "Ish". They heard my cries of frustration from constantly lecturing MW-Raves to cease discussions of glow sticks, phat pants and rollin'.dude. Now, my lack of money, time, and accesibility to record stores keeps me out of the loop of most record discussions...but never too short of an honest opinion.;) enjoy the day. d --- Ian Malbon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Apr 22, 2004, at 3:34 PM, Marsel // > Nomorewords.net wrote: > > > when did this list 'officially' start? > > As a reminder, archives are here: > http://music.hyperreal.org/lists/313/archive.html > Sept. 1994? > > I think I subbed in '95. >I get this kind of anxiety running though me, like its my fault i didn't know about >something big when it was happening. LOL! I know *exactly* what you're talking about. There was once a time when you could go to one website and order all the records you could possibly want. I still recall when this website was running. I can't recall what I was listening to when I came across it and I don't recall why I never bought anything. Most likely since I didn't know what was what. I do recall liking UR stuff and thought their imagery was so much like Public Enemy's Wish I could find a "Breaking the Chains" t-shirt now I used to see them in my local shop too now that's something I'd love to see re-issued! the old merchandise - hell I'd pay a premium to be able to wear one of those shirts around get a basic b&w UR logo on a black trucker style hat MEK
Re: (313) 10 years?
just visited the old front of the website. its like seeing first hand what the world before I was born. Octave One's back catalog for $3.99 a piece, anyone? I get this kind of anxiety running though me, like its my fault i didn't know about something big when it was happening. No amount of conviction to Detroit techno or DJing can get you on the ground floor if you weren't there. But it does beat saying, "i knew about it and I fell off". Alas, 2003 was very good year for electronic music, and so is 2004. Cant be bogged down in the past with new a new moodymann album and 2 more kenny larkins ready to drop. livin' it always, as always -jason On Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 07:37 PM, David Gillies wrote: How about this for another trip back: http://web.archive.org/web/19961226231316/http://submerge.com/ Lots of fun checking out the links section as well.
