Thanks for the suggestions!

2AM/FM: I picked up the first release and was very impressed.
Everything that Mullinix puts out under various names has been just
great. Dabrye/Cotton/etc. I love putting some of those records on
when I'm playing at a house party, although I usually find the more
crazy ones a bit harder to mix out of, you know? :) That jack-house
stuff is quite fun, though, and I'm glad people are still pushing it
here and there.

Anyway I'll look up those suggestions, thanks again.

No, I'm sure he's doing quite well of his Audion work (which is all
worth a listen). I would feel the same way about the remixes, but
they're not nearly as bad as I'd feared.

I'm also a fan of Kate Simko, 2AM/FM, Osborne, Par Grundvik, etc.. I'd
say give all the recent Spectral stuff a listen, there are some gems in
there.

Detroit, May 28, 2004 As part of the 2004 Movement Festival, Ann Arbor¹s
Ghostly International and Diesel-U-Music presents The Three Fates, a party
in the beautiful Crystal Ballroom of the Masonic Temple featuring the US
debut of Germany¹s Alter Ego, Geoff White/Aeroc (live), Matthew Dear (live
PA performance), Midwest Product, and DJs Osborne and Ryan Elliott.

Headlining are German stalwarts Alter Ego, who, despite recording since the
early Œ90s, will be making their US debut at The Three Fates. Having
recorded for such labels as Klang and Sven Vath¹s Harthouse and remixed
artists ranging from Primal Scream to Chicks on Speed, Alter Ego hold an
important role in the German movement from hard dancefloor techno to more
experimental realms.

Also on the bill are: Geoff White, a recent signee to Ghostly whose
guitar-based, experimental debut as Aeroc, Viscous Solid, is released in
July; Matthew Dear, performing a full live set of material from his
acclaimed Leave Luck to Heaven and upcoming releases; Midwest Product, who
will take time away from recording their new album for a rare live
appearance this summer; and DJs Osborne, who has spent much of the summer
touring as Soundmurderer as part of the Rephlex Records tour, and Ryan
Elliott, one of Detroit¹s up-and-coming DJs who performing in the festival
this year.

Located within Detroit¹s historic Masonic Temple, the Crystal Ballroom is a
unique and elegant venue built in 1928 with Italian-style décor and two
giant crystal electroliers. The moderate-sized room will help insure that
the Three Fates is one of the more memorable events during Memorial Day
weekend.

The Three Fates takes place on Friday, May 28th, from 10pm-4am, tickets
costing $15. The Crystal Ballroom is located within the Masonic Temple at

I want to host an event but KNOW that's WAY too much at once for the locals to
handle, but it is nice to dream.
If you like to have fun, hear great dance music, bad ass mixing, and to hang
out with some of Detroit and New York's nicest people
just stay home
there is NO WAY they will be at Sullivan's on this Monday night. I think it's
like 5$ too.
Please, there are so many better things you could spend the 5 on
like a pack of cig's or a case of pop rocks.
Has anyone seen and heard their merchandie? How can they get away with that?!
Then to sell it at the most crowded event of the festival, where do you put
records, shirts, stickers, buttons, posters when your dancing?
untitled for real freaks for real

Diana sorry I didn't speak but I only saw you in massive crowds, but it's good
to see you HEART NYC
Someone ask Viktor Christian where they were during the festival, I never saw
them.

(313) Ghostly International Idol Tryouts V 1

2003-03-31 Thread Kent williams
Got the Idol Tryouts Volume 1 to review, and it really raises the question:
Tadd Mullinix: Is there nothing he can't do?

Also have been loving the Dykehouse track that sounds like Husker Du backing
up Brian Eno.

Every frickin track on this comp has something that is missing from even some
music I really like: pure stupid almost-pop grooviness. It's like a big
box of candy bars. Dangerously close to being commercial, not because of
pandering impulses, but because it's inviting, involving, even accessible
music.

Big up the GI crew. This CD should turn heads!

hahahahahah that's funny. that's actually an old Wire track. i remember hearing

idol tryouts is most excellent. and i can say these things now that i'm ghostly

Agreed, it's an excellent comp and the Dykehouse Wire cover is a standout
amongst many (I think Sam V told me it would be coming out on a 12, too).
Well worth checking anyway.

Every frickin track on this comp has something that is missing from even
some
music I really like: pure stupid almost-pop grooviness. It's like a big
box of candy bars. Dangerously close to being commercial, not because of
pandering impulses, but because it's inviting, involving, even accessible
 music.

Big up the GI crew. This CD should turn heads!

Agreed, it's an excellent comp and the Dykehouse Wire cover
 is a standout
amongst many (I think Sam V told me it would be coming out on
 a 12, too).
 Well worth checking anyway.

Got the Idol Tryouts Volume 1 to review, and it really raises the
 question:
Tadd Mullinix: Is there nothing he can't do?

Also have been loving the Dykehouse track that sounds like Husker Du
 backing
  up Brian Eno.
