Got this from a homie in New Orleans (the home of jambalaya - for those who
don't know), it's the bomb:

3 lbs shrimp, butterflied and halved
1 lbs sausage
1 tbs oil
1 tbs butter
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
2 bay leaves
1-16 oz can tomatoes
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 cup parsley
2 cups stock
1/2 green onion
1 tps thyme
1 tps basil
1/8 tps cayenne
1 tps salt
1/2 tps chili powder
1 1/2 cup long grain rice
1/8 tps cloves
1/8 tps all spice

Add oil and butter to stock pot. Add onion, pepper, garlic, and celery and
sweat til soft. Add shrimp and cook til white. About 5 min. Remove shrimp, add
sausage. Cook til sausage is ready (2 min). Add stock, tomatoes, bay leaves,
parsley, thyme, basil cayenne, salt, cloves, all spice, chili powder and rice.
Bring to boil, cover and cook under low heat for 20 mins. Add shrimp. Cook for
5 min and serve.

The prep is kinda pain. Once you get past that, it is just like cooking rice.
Enjoy with a glass of red wine and some Detroit techno. ;)

For a second I thought to myself "aw man what does today's acquittal
of the cops who shot Sean Bell have to do with the 313 list??" and
thought you were inciting riots or something. Then I realized you
must just be referring to king's famous line "can't we all just get
along?" and that the overtone was just a coincidence.

Some things about the recent thread:

1. The big bright line over which one should not cross on the 313 list
is this: No personal attacks, no threats of violence. I shouldn't think
that's controversial.

2. I make no pretensions of impartiality as a system administrator.
Impartiality you only get if you pay for it, and this is a volunteer
position. I am friends in real life with a lot of people here,
including Tom Cox. Anyone I know who gets obnoxious is likely going to
get the benefit of the doubt from me. Anyone I don't know probably
won't. I don't claim to be impartial, but I really try to be fair.

3. I don' t want to shut down or shape discussion on the list. That's
never been what the 313 list has been about. I don't want to ban people
from the list either -- that's only happened 3 or 4 times in the 14-odd
years of 313. But I don't think personal attacks should be a part of
the list, ever. If you can't make your point without insulting someone,
well, you're not really making your point are you? Be a little more
creative.

4. If I was to take a vote, judging by my e-mails, Tom Cox is not a
popular figure on the list. Maybe I do give him a free pass because
I've hung out with him, know his wife etc. But Tom at least cools his
sh*t when I ask him. If I ask someone to back off, and I get attitude,
it really gets up my nose.

5. If you disagree with someone, you should use that disagreement as a
means to refine your expression of your own opinion. If you're mad
because of something he says, channel it into wit, not vitriol. Your
anger means very little in this context; your ability to clearly write
what you think and feel is everything.

And everyone should remember: the Internet is forever. Everyone on this
list is going to be living with the stuff they write on it for the rest
of their lives. If someone makes you mad, your best revenge is to think
about the day he or she gets googled twenty years from now and they look
like a tool.

Wow, Kooky...

I know Tom was guilty on the first account, as I remember when that
threat happened, but on the other 3 guilty verdicts... where did you
base your supporting evidence and where was the jury to define guilt
or innocence?

I know here in America democracy is almost dead, but I thought we
still had a process where a guilty verdict is found through providing
evidence and having a group discussion determine guilt or innocence.

Forgive me for bringing up the Hitler name again, but I think in this
situation, it smells a lot like the Death of a Democracy. Kook, I
know you've got long-standing beef with Tom, but try to at least put
some sort of evidence like you did in the first guilty verdict. It'll
make your argument a bit more viable and a bit less dictatorial
a**hole.

Peace*

For more on the relationship between Music and mental illness I highly
recommend the following DVD's:

The Devil and Daniel Johnston
You're Gonna Miss Me (Rocky Ericsson)
Dig ! (Brian Jonestown Massacre vs. Dandy Warhols)

If I do get to attend the DEMF this year I'll be back @ the hotel with my 2
fans in their 2 Kooky girlie T's practicing what I like to call, my 3 favorite
words. Menage-a-trois.

And just to throw another log on the fire, it's a good thing Tom can't read
German.

Be a little more creative.
