Looks like I'll have to find a copy of that one especially with a
description from Tristan as some of the synths remind me a bit of
Skinny Puppy sounding. I'll be playing a Halloween event, complete with
a haunted house setup in one room and dj's in the other - I need more
scary records! :)

Cheers!

My investments in electronic music's future, trying not to repeat those

Analog Fingerprints : Age of Hypocrisy (New Marco Passirani on
Submerge-affiliated label, churning out classic Detroit and full-on rave
sounds. All four track = detonation)

Kirk Degiorgio : EP3 - (Four tracks of kinda-slow Detroitiotechno)

Duplex 100 : Extrapoliert (MJ goes UR)

Horror Inc. : I Plead Guilty (Akufen goes deep dark piano)

Karizma : Strings Emotional EP (Interesting 'deep burnt'-style strings
with
a kinda UR synth taking over the second half. A bit tracky, but good)

Sebo K : Changes EP (Drum 'n bass producer doing acid and old school
Chicago
stuffs)

Ultradyne : The Privilege Of Sacrifice (Sinister stuff Alex! I totally
scared a hungover friend with it Sunday morning. Some of the synths
remind
me a bit of Skinny Puppy, which is a big compliment in my book)

DJ Rels : Theme For A Broken Soul (Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf go
broken
beat, and end up sounding something like Theo Parrish were he to do the
same. A few gems on here, solid throughout)

Umod : Enter The Umod (Differently broken beats from Domu. 'For Funk's
Sake'
and 'What Melody' are sick, particularly the latter, which has as much
attention to detail as any track I've hear. Domu's stil on a roll. The
12
of 'Tromboline' is also worth getting for the flip)

Various Artists : Del Alma Sampler Vol.1 (New on Amalgama, featuring a
tasty
Titonton stuff that may be atyically broken enough to not scare away
those
who don't usually feel broken beat stuff)

808 State : Prebuild (Ancient rarities unearthed on Rephlex.
Particularly
enjoying 'The Ride', 'Sex Mechanic' and 'Automatic')

Population One : Earth 2976 (Old Terrence Dixon reissue on Metroplex.
All
three tracks nice. Crappy recording or pressing but still playable)

Mike L Lanoiraude : Mystic River EP (Sounds like a Charles Webster
Remix.
It is a Charles Webster remix!)

Bjork : Medulla (Mostly acapella album featuring Icelandic choruses and
Razell, formerly of The Roots. A must for fans)

Ame : Mifune / Shiro (Two excellent new tracks on Sonar Kollektiv, the
first
reminding me a bit of Attend 1 without being unoriginal)

Ethnic Heritage Ensemble : Running In The Streets (Another Charles
Webster
Remix. A slow builder. Really tasty if that's your thing)

This has fck-all to do with Detroit (erm ... I took cEvin Key to go
see and meet Richie Hawtin - Canadian muso summit alert! - at Johnny
Depp's Viper Room club once ... does that count?), but given that
Gerald and Tristan mentioned 'em, I just wanted to put in a BSP for
my Skinny Puppy homeboys. They just went out on the road yesterday
and are hitting a lot of spots back East and in Canada (they're
at the State Theater in Detroit on Nov. 12th, and in Toronto 2 days
before at Kool Haus) over the next month and a half. Even if (like me)
Industrial is no longer your thang, if you've ever been a fan you'll
find something to like in their current roadshow. (One thing about
Puppy live is that they've always been an incredibly well-oiled
machine on stage, and this tour is no different in that regard.)

P.S. Re: WOMB/Liquid Room/Tokyo et al. - I went to both on my last
trip to Japan. Amazing (albeit expensive) clubs, both of 'em.

Tokyo can be an incredibly alienating place, especially alone.
One of the fascinating things you discover is how much we all
depend on pattern-matching - for example, the subway maps were
all in Japanese, so I had to pattern-match the characters to find
my station stop. Luckily two of my best friends live there - one
in and one outside (in Chiba-ken) the city, so most of the time I'm
pretty set (the one that lives in the city speaks fluent Japanese).
You should've said you were going there Cyclone, I could've hooked
you up! (I wonder whatever happened to Nancy Mitchell - she used
to be on 313, and she was over there doing Artist Management and
Promotion, for WOMB et al. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)

This has fck-all to do with Detroit

ahh, yes, but it's interesting!

and this is what the FAQ says (I read it recently):

Thanks for inquiring about 313. This list was set up by myself to be a
forum for the discussion of Detroit techno artists or artists directly
influenced by Detroit techno artists. That said, it would be no great
coincidence if the list followed the same progression as techno music has.
That is, just as the works of the original Detroiters has provided the
framework on which much of techno music has been built upon so too should
the stated purpose of the list serve as the basis for broader discussion.

so there.

and, where's my post about kirk, I never saw it : ( did it get thru?

seriously. i had to get out of buying broken beat records a while
back, mainly due to the future rage 12. we've been hearing that
tune around here because of mikebee and titonton being here
frequently since like early 2003 or something, maybe even earlier.
it took it over a YEAR to come out. i just wont support that. it
was funny, people i know where like did you hear that new dkd
record? and i was like you mean the one we've heard on CD-r for

Duplex 100 : Extrapoliert (MJ goes UR)

Horror Inc. : I Plead Guilty (Akufen goes deep dark piano)

Karizma : Strings Emotional EP (Interesting 'deep burnt'-style strings with
a kinda UR synth taking over the second half. A bit tracky, but good)

Sebo K : Changes EP (Drum 'n bass producer doing acid and old school Chicago
stuffs)

Ultradyne : The Privilege Of Sacrifice (Sinister stuff Alex! I totally
scared a hungover friend with it Sunday morning. Some of the synths remind
me a bit of Skinny Puppy, which is a big compliment in my book)

DJ Rels : Theme For A Broken Soul (Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf go broken
beat, and end up sounding something like Theo Parrish were he to do the
same. A few gems on here, solid throughout)

Umod : Enter The Umod (Differently broken beats from Domu. 'For Funk's Sake'
and 'What Melody' are sick, particularly the latter, which has as much
attention to detail as any track I've hear. Domu's stil on a roll. The 12
of 'Tromboline' is also worth getting for the flip)

Various Artists : Del Alma Sampler Vol.1 (New on Amalgama, featuring a tasty
Titonton stuff that may be atyically broken enough to not scare away those
who don't usually feel broken beat stuff)

808 State : Prebuild (Ancient rarities unearthed on Rephlex. Particularly
enjoying 'The Ride', 'Sex Mechanic' and 'Automatic')

Population One : Earth 2976 (Old Terrence Dixon reissue on Metroplex. All
three tracks nice. Crappy recording or pressing but still playable)

Mike L Lanoiraude : Mystic River EP (Sounds like a Charles Webster Remix.
It is a Charles Webster remix!)

Bjork : Medulla (Mostly acapella album featuring Icelandic choruses and
Razell, formerly of The Roots. A must for fans)

Ame : Mifune / Shiro (Two excellent new tracks on Sonar Kollektiv, the first
reminding me a bit of Attend 1 without being unoriginal)

Ethnic Heritage Ensemble : Running In The Streets (Another Charles Webster
Remix. A slow builder. Really tasty if that's your thing)
