(313) Satellite Records
Apologies if this topic has been covered. Anyone know what the deal is with satelliterecords.com lately?
Re: (313) Satellite Records
Well, all their retail stores were sold off, and then I stopped paying attention. On Jan 31, 2007, at 11:38, Thor Teague wrote: Apologies if this topic has been covered. Peeps Does anyone have experience with placing an international order with satellite records in nyc ? i am just wanting to find out if thet are a good company to deal with as far as ordering via credit card over the net etc. thanx. p
Re: (313) satellite
sattelite were one of the earliest in the states to sort out online orders. for years they had/have a lot of younger clients spread across the country and the suburbs and put effort into servicing that market by mail. in short, they are trustworthy and dependable. with the US dollar so low maybe i should see what they've got. maybe that salsoul re-release of the let no man put asunder remixes... james Philip [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313 313@hyperreal.org edu.au cc: (bcc: James Bucknell/ARD/AU/ReadersDigest) Subject: (313) satellite 07/01/04 01:34 AM Peeps Does anyone have experience with placing an international order with satellite records in nyc ? i am just wanting to find out if thet are a good company to deal with as far as ordering via credit card over the net etc. thanx. p

I haven't ordered from them since living abroad, but they hooked me up while in the states. Very good with correcting any errors in very large orders as well. Don't think I ever had any trouble with them. In my mind, they're the best US mail order store left after Groovetech, in terms of diversity and stock, except maybe my peepz @ the Record Collector in Iowa City http://www.recordcollectorinc.com (partial vote of course). While in D.C., I split my $ pretty evenly between Groovetech and Satellite. Tristan === http://www.phonopsia.co.uk [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] Satellite records - it's been asked I know
I used to place orders on occasion with Satellite, but it's been a while since I've done so... maybe 4 or 5 months since my last order with them. (It was shortly after they implemented their so-called real-time inventory online.) Speed of Shipment - I'll rate it poor. Most shops I order from can have my order within a week, most times less depending on their location. Satellite has never failed to take at least 3 weeks (ok, maybe 2 on one or two occasions) to ship my order to me, regardless of when I place my order (supposedly they process web orders on Sundays and then ship them the following Sunday). They were to have changed this procedure in order to expedite the process, but my last order still took well over 2 weeks to arrive. Taking a week to get around to reviewing your order sort of defeats the purpose of having a real-time catalog available online. Maybe this has changed since, but this was my last (and only) experience with them under the new system. Service - Other than the agonizing waits for my orders, I've never had a reason to deal with them over any problems. My bills have always been correct, and my records have always arrived in good shape. Accuracy of stock - this goes back to the first point I replied on. I would suppose if you attempt to order a record and it says out of stock, then it's likely out of stock. To say that you will get everything you order that is supposedly in stock is a falsehood. Either the online inventory is not 100% correct, or some of those items disappear from inventory between the time you order them and the time your order is processed. I think I got zero'ed on two pieces I ordered from my last shipment, and I only ordered like 5 or 6 items. Historically, in the couple of years I've ordered from them, I've had a roughly 80% success rate in getting everything I've ordered. Are they reputable? Yes. Do they have a great catalog to look through? Yes. (The Realaudio samples are great when they work.) Would I buy from them again? Yes, but only if I've exhausted some of my other options first. Re: [313] Satellite records - it's been asked I know
I agree with most of Matt's comments, except speed. Satellite is not the speedy juggernaut that Groovetech is, but I've not had to wait more than 4 or 5 days for the order to ship in three orders I placed this Summer. I assume they've improved this. Re: availability. I think they've improved, but still have issues. I ordered 10 records in June and they were all in stock - shipped in two days. In July I raided their massive sale. I ordered 31 records. They told me two were not in stock within 24 hours, so I had them ship the remainder and they shipped in the next day or two. When I received the order, I got one of the records I was told was not in stock, one I didn't order and two were missing (given the size of the sale and my order, I wasn't upset). The one missing and the one unexpected washed, but I was stuck with one record I didn't want and was still missing a 2x pack. I emailed to get a return authorization number which was authorized within a week of returning the record. They credit me the full (not sale price) cost of the missing record and authorized free shipping on the credit. I ordered 4 records. Two were not in stock so I asked for two replacements. The next day Mike called me to verify my replacement choices due to email problems at the store (they were calling everyone)! This service really impressed me, and Mike took the time to pull all the records while I was on the line to confirm it would all be taken care of. The records shipped the following Tuesday. I don't mind if they're a little slower, but the ease of use of their database could use some improvement, and the 'not in stock' issues are a tad annoying. However, I love to support a store with service this good. I tend to accumulate orders from different stores, then order when the quantitiy amasses. I think Groovetech is totally class too, although Berwick Street will likely get most of my business going forward. ;) One other note: I hear that they've received a bit of a techno infusion post-Temple, so look for good things ahead. [313] Satellite Sale and Some New Stuff I'm Diggin'
Hi all, Been experiencing email trouble for a while, so excuse the long, scattered post. Thought I'd pass along the good word about Satellite's huge record sale. Lately, I been a Groovetech man, but I made a killing @ satellite last week - 29 records for $185, mostly imports. Lots of great stuff 4 cheap that I didn't think I'd readily find, including: As One - 21st Century Soul - $13.99 Charles Webster - Ready 12 - $5.99 Deep Forces - One Only EP - $4.99 Jacek Sienkewicz - Real Link - $5.99 Killa Bite 1 - $3.99 Ladyvipb - $5.99 Surgeon - Midnight Club - $3.99 Titonton Fabrice Lig - Sensual - $3.99 These are just the oft-mentioned-on-[313] titles I found, but I really did well in the house section and catching myself up on the West London thing. Titles on BitaSweet, Laws of Motion, Neroli, OMOA, Visions, Ubiquity, People and others were all on sale. Never saw this mentioned here, but the Wyndell Long Love Is record on Fiji is a great return to his early sound from his first Peacefrog EP. Dense, textured and thumpin, but with a great house vibe. For my $, he's not as consistent with techno, even though when he's on, he's on. Not on sale, but I picked up the new Super Collider album. So far I'm only sold on a few of the tracks, but I suspect it will grow on me. A trully bizarre effort, somewhere in between soul, industrial and IDM. Even weirder than the first, but not as distant and crazy and Jamie Lidell's last full length. Other than that, and probably not that new, I'm really loving the Pepe Bradock remix of Iz Diz's 'Mouth' on Classic and Dan Curtin Morgan Geist's 'Shredded Melody'. I played catch-up on Russ Gabriel too, picking up his remix of Purveyors of Fine Funk and his 12 on Nepenta and his Wilkomen Ep, all are really pressing my buttons. The latest Alton Miller on Moods 'n Grooves is really lush. The latest Thomas Fehlmann on Kompakt is nice and dubby too. For the record, I have no affiliation with the store and they got a couple of items wrong, but at these prices I didn't care. They've also been prompt and courteous with the return. There's 4 pages of techno and 33 pages of house in the sale as of last week, to give you an idea of the stock you're looking at. You can find a lot of techno in the 'minimal house' and 'hard house' sections too. Hope everyone's Summer is less crazy than mine so far. New records are good! Re: [313] satellite rec. site
Check your bookmarks. www.satellite-records.com is still the old website with all the old releases, www.satelliterecords.com is the new one. You'd think they would link both to the same page.
