Ohhh, playa hater. Nas is great. People tend to judge him and Jay-Z by their singles, but there are some treasures on their albums. Anyways this has nothing to do with 313 but I have heard a rumour that Kenneth Branagh is hooking up with Baz Luhrmann and KRS to bring Shakespeare to the hip-hop generation and Nas is likely to get the role of Hamlet, if not Eminem (there's something Shady in the state of Denmark could work). It will be narrated by KRS as Shakespeare, aka 'Ill Will'. There's a script on the internet and it opens with something like 'Yo, yo, yo hip-hoppas, I be Ill Will, the bard/all y'all wack MCs I will discard/ here begins a tale most tragic, but we'll keep it real, ain't no magic/ enter young Hamlet, mad in his method, his method be mad/ yo, hip-hop's forever, ain't no fad... God let's not get into the morality of weight here, please. ;) Australia is the second I think. It may be cute for the fellas, but, God, for women this has become nothing short of a modern day Inquistion. It's sad to say but a woman's worth today is what she weighs on the scale. Re: (313) are they serious?
It is. If it were a purely health issue, fine, but it's taken on moralistic - and often sexist and classist - overtones which rile me no end. I think in Detroit people drive cars too much, they are too 'scared' to walk even short distances. The Dutch posse at the festival walked from Transmat to their hotels downtown and back every day - perhaps ill advisedly, I don't know - and didn't think a thing of it as that's the European lifestyle. Plus poverty means people eat more junk food than fresh veg and fruit which is costly. yeah, i've heard reports that australia is the second most obese nation. but as the 51 state of the union i don't know if we count as a seperate country. so has detriot surpassed new orleans for obesity? man, that's a real achievement - it's hard to beat a city that has beignes(sp?) for breakfast. mmm beigne. yippee, it's lunchtime! james www.jbucknell.com Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] il.com.au To 313 Detroit 313@hyperreal.org 21/10/04 02:46 AM cc Subject Re: (313) are they serious? actually the end was signified by Nas doing a soulless teleprompter rendition of a Tupac song and the Beasties doing a very bad and too long RUN DMC imitation on last weeks VH1 Hip Hop Honors show. How's this for 313-related connection: I had produced a few backing tracks for them that they didn't use, and I've recorded for Teknotika. AND I'm from Long Island originally, I grew up at the end of the Northern State Parkway, which is the street their named after. Of course I'm old enough to be their father, practically. Woo.
