[313] $tinkworx / macho cat garage

2002-09-15 Thread senslo
Hi

Does anyone know anything about $tinkworx and Macho
Cat Garage, who have both put out some really
excellent releases recently (on Delsin, Down Low and
Viewlexx)? I think I read somewhere that $tinkworx was
American. And Macho Cat Garage? They both have
something for Dutch labels, anyway.

And on the topic of hard to identify artists, I don't
think I heard confirmation of whether (the sadly
missed) James Stinson was responsible for the Other
People Places album on Warp last year. One of the best
releases of 2001 I think.

Cheers

Chris

to add to the confusement:
i've read somewhere that the artists behind macho cat garage are rusty and
randy from french guyana, and that legowelt only acted as the producers.
the downlow website [http://www.downlowrecords.org] refers to french guyana
as well...
as for $tinkworx? i'm positive that she/he/they're neither from belgium nor
texas; an honorary dutchman?

2002-09-17 Thread Elliot Taub
$tinkworx is J.T Stewart. I thought he was from from Austin, Texas, but this
is what it says on www.delsin.org

$tinkworx
.. is originally from New York, and now stuck in North Carolina. In a short
time he has been releasing through several respected labels as his co-owned
Down Low label, Rushhour and Bunker, all filled with his smooth glitchy
italodisco-styled techno grooves. His release on Delsin showed the more
smooth side of $tinkworx, where all tracks go deeply funky. The twiddling
synths sounds glide in smoothly with the soft sexy styled strings, ending up
somewhere in between of Japanese Telecom and Metro Area & Daniel Wang. More
from $tinkworx to come in 2003!

Stinkworx is definitely from North Carolina! 100% sure!
And it should stay an enigma who it exactly is. hehehehe
Stinkworx is also on the list, so he/she will lift the secret if he/she wants

Forget all that. I just want to say that $tinkworx is fantastic whoever it
may be.
Always made me thinkof Metro Area, but wearing a Groucho Marx fake nose and
