Re: [313] Rock To The Beat[313] TECHNO 2: The Next Generation
I do have the vinyl pressing for this release, which was on Wing Records/Polygram. For curiosity's sake, I've enclosed a tracklsiting below. To my knowledge, there was a 2nd volume with the same title as well, although I couldn't tell you what is on it... a search of cddb.com might be able to reveal that, for whomever is interested. [313] Rock To The Beat[313] TECHNO 2: The Next Generation
This Is New Beat was also available on Vinyl. I bought it used at recordtime out of curiosity about 18 months ago. Nothing particularly interesting, except for the fact the Renaat of R&S fame was actually behind that comp in a pre-R&S guise. I cannot tell you the label, as I got rid of the record in one of my "goodbye 1990's" record purges awhile back. The record really has no value outside of trivia. mt 101's "Rock to the Beat" was on "This is the New Beat" (can't remember the label - the tape is long-since lost), and I think it was just a cassette/CD release??? This very well may have been the Subway records release. I haven't seen my copy in at least 10 year though, so my details may be off a bit. [313] Rock to the Beat!
Definately Kevin Saunderson...you can get it on the Faces and Phases CD and on the Rock to the Beat record that was just repressed by KMS. I just managed to pick one up a couple of weeks ago. jeff > -Original Message- > From: Brendan Nelson [EMAIL PROTECTED] [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Friday, November 23, 2001 6:25 AM > To: 'Scotto'; 313 > Subject: RE: [313] Speaking of Jeff van dyke... > > | -Original Message- > | From: Scotto [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > | Sent: Friday, November 23, 2001 3:09 PM > | > | oh yea he played tons of great track including sharivari and > | an old acid > | house tune which says "rock to the beat" (who does that track?). > > It might be Reece (Kevin Saunderson), on KMS from 1987, unless it was > another acid track with a similar sample... > > Brendan > > - > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Saunderson remixed NO's "Round & Round" to great effect. I believe triangle of love is actually a techno cover of New order's Bizzarre love triangle. And yes it's damn fine. Funny this would come up today because I had it in my head when I left home this morning. Can't wait to get back and submit to it's insidious charms. peace, _joe
RE: (313)Rock to the Beat / Triangle of Love
I've always wondered if the vocal "Rock to the Beat" is a sample or not. I've always thought it sounds like Kim Gordon (!) I'll also throw in some praise for Triangle of Love, that vocal is so raw its beautiful. Someone mentioned New Order and that's what I thought the first time I heard Triangle. So I doubt this is just a coincidence, how much influence did New Order have in the D? Technique remains as one of my favourite albums of all time. Is this a "go read Techno Rebels" question? Re: (313)Rock to the Beat mix?
Lisa M did a cover of this on BMG back in the late 80s and there were also a number of newbeat covers. Perhaps it is one of those. Though the Lisa M version has a female vocal throughout, so that would be noticeable. (313)Rock to the Beat mix?
I have a weird mix of Rock to the Beat--it has a tweaked out 303 riff, samples of someone saying 'acd' and 'ecstasy.' on the flip is 'saigon nightmare'. there is no artist info crediting kevin saunderson, which makes me suspect it's a bootleg. is this a bootleg, any one know who did it, and when? it say it's made in belgium.' james
